Michael & Son

They did a great job. They are a bit pricey.

I called Michael & Son to schedule inspection of my doorbell and outdoor electrical outlet. Service was scheduled for 10/08/2015 between 0900 and 1200. Brent J., the technician, called at 0925 to say that he was on his way. When he arrived I told him that sometimes when it rained the GFI in the garage would "trip" and the doorbell would stop working until I would reset the GFI. Brent inspected the doorbell, the GFI in the garage and the front and rear electrical outlets. I observed him while he did the inspection of the outlet in the rear of the house off the patio. When he removed the outer plastic cover and the inner cover over the outlet, a small trickle of water came out. He showed me where parts of the outlet had rusted. He said that the outlets had not been properly sealed and allowed water to come into both the front and rear receptacles. I agreed to the replacement of both receptacles. Brent installed new weather- resistant outlets with weatherproof covers. He did not have to replace the doorbell. He said that the water inside the receptacles caused an electrical “short” on the line. This tripped the GFI and caused the doorbell not to work. He cleaned up his work then showed me that the doorbell and each receptacle were in working order. He left at 1050.

We wanted to have 2 electrical outlets installed in an area in our LR. Since Michael & Son had a Big Deal offer of $129 for $200 of Licensed Professional Electrical Work, and they provided service to a couple of my neighbors, I called them. After some changes, we finally agreed on service scheduled for 09/15/2015 between 1000 and 1400. John O., the electrical technician, arrived at 1100. I was impressed with his politeness and professional manner. He set a mat outside my front door with Michael &Son. Also, he wore boot covers while in my house. I was really glad of that since we have light carpet, wood floors, and my family does not wear shoes in the house. John inspected the areas of the room that did have electrical outlets and/or switches and the area where I wanted them outlets installed. Also, he inspected the electrical panel in the garage. Then he discussed with me he plan for running electrical power to the desired area. I agreed and he began to work. At 1312 (1:12 pm) he said that the work required a special circuit breaker (fault breaker) as required by code and he need to leave to purchase it. He returned about 1400 with the fault breaker and installed it. There seemed to be a problem that he was trying to resolve that caused the breaker to “trip”. He finally seemed to find the problem and resolved it. He apologized for taking so much time, but said he had to make sure everything was OK and within code since I planned to have the new installation inspected by per city code. He said I could call Jennifer at Michael & Son and she would schedule city inspection. John cleaned up his work, then showed me what he had done and demonstrated how well the newly installed outlets worked. He left at 1720. Needless to say, I was very concerned about how much time this took and the cost. I was told that, in order to avoid a possible electrical fire and to have the electrical work pass code inspection, it required the installation of the fault breaker and the proper wiring of the lines and outlets. The outlets, electrical work, and breakers, passed inspection on 09/29/2015.

Very good work on water heater. Bathtub faucet was misdiagnosed and didn't need to be replaced after all. It was a water pressure issue. The water pressure had been set by Michael and Sons a year ago when they replaced the water pressure valve. It was too high for that particular faucet, which malfunctioned. When the faucet turned out not to be the problem, I asked for a refund of the cost of the new one, which was granted.

Great service! ---the technician was friendly, helpful, professional, quick and he explained what had to be done. He worked alone almost all day to replace the hotwater heater in our small crawl space. Michael and Son will be our plumber for future needs!

On time professional knowledgeable no mess, not cheap but got what I paid for.

The pump was carefully checked and both technicians explained how it operated, etc. We were impressed by the quality and professionalism in answering all our concerns.

Kevin was very good. He was efficient and explained exactly what happened.

Awesome job. Gave several options for additional work when asked but didn't push. Came on time, cleaned up and even accommodated a special request for no additional fee. Definitely would hire again.

Its more expensive than you think it should be.

They were very thorough, and they are knowledgeable. They had to replace all the circuits, and the problem we were having with dimming lights reoccurring. They solved the whole problem. I don't know, it seems high to me, but its high everywhere.

I have been happy with them. They come out late winter and check out my air condition. they also come out in late fall to check out the heating so they take care of that. They do and annual on the plumbing and annual on the electric so that's all good.Of course they always try to Upsell me on sh*t i don't need which they all try to do. But generally they come out and make there appointment they call you and they have you schedule on a call back so they know when they suppose to call you to schedule the inspection and stuff like that. They have a good program there they know what they are doing. As far as comfortable rates can't get anyone else to come out they was the only ones that responded. I think they are good guys I mean they all the Hvac the Electrical and the plumber there Independent Contractors that fall up underneath there and they drive there vans and they do really good. They come out and take pride in there work there good guys I mean they try to Upsell you cause they wanna make a lil more money I mean like i said that's just part of business. I think it was one guy that could't come out and they called and rescheduled they knew what was going on with there schedule so they didn't wait until the last minute to try calling me they called me that morning and said look man some things changed they were appropriate. I have used them for 2 years.

Excellent communication and service. All charges were explained up front and all my repair options were explained in detail. Brian G. was excellent and through his professionalism definitely convinced me to recommend Michael and Son to others.

It went very well, all questions were answered to our satisfaction.

Received a quote for removing a water filtration system for $595 and another quote to remove a booster pump for $495. I didn't tell the comany that I was a general contractor and this quote was a complete rip-off. I got both jobs done from another A rater contractor for $150. That's a savings of nearly $1000. My advice is to avoid this company and always shop around. I dI'd allow this company to remove a bad in-sink hot water dispenser since he was alreaDr here. It was well done, but also way overpriced at $395...

John came out and diagnosed a defective float switch. He replaced the float switch and tested to our satisfaction. John was very professional and friendly.

Fixed problem. Would call again if in a pinch.

Great! We have used this company on two occasions and both times we have been pleased. The techs are on time, friendly, and do great work at a reasonable price. We will continue to use them for future needs.

This is a scam . I had an appt. made and the woman told me that there was a diagnostic fee of $69.50. No where in the add does it state this which is false advertising. . So essentially you are paying $119.00 but out of that is $69.50 deducted. Day of appt. the plumber gives you an estimate. I wanted 4 bathroom faucets with pop ups installed. I had the faucets and the supply lines. Told me supply lines were too short. His estimate to do all 4 was over $800.00. But since I already paid the $119.00 for $200.00 worth of service - it would be minus the $200.00 but still about $600.00 +. Seems a lot of $ for this. So I declined and now just threw away $119.00.

Was prompt and got the job done in good time. The outlets work but one seems to not close when in use as good as the other one.

They did solve the problem (it was actually a Duke Energy problem) and used the coupon from Angie's list but thy will not give me an invoice despite repeated attempts to get them to do so. I have no idea how my coupon from Angie's list was used or what services it paid for.

Our technician, Glen Cosentino was very skilled and professional. The parts that he installed or upgrades from the originals. What I was additionally impressive was his integrity. We had an issue with our kitchen sink where the fixtures were making noises and leaking when operated. Glenn inspected them but I didn't if I did they were Delta faucets that I have lifetime warranties on them. He did not try to sell us new faucets- instead advising us to contact Delta since we are the original owners. I would otherwise have not been aware of that and would have paid him for installing new faucets that day. Glen represented Michael & Sons very well and we will use them again if repairs are needed in the future.

They advertise 24 hour service. Called answering service at midnight when we noticed water shooting up and the sod in the yard was mounded. Phone rang at least 30 times before someone answered...explained issue and gave them the contact information. After 45 min with no return call, I called again - and again, the phone rang and rang before someone answered it...then the person stated they had called the service tech and hadn't heard from the tech and would call the on-call tech again. At 2am we called someone else, who responded immediately. At 2:20am the tech from Michael & Son called us back and stated he just received the message. I thanked him and declined service.

Solstice team showed up on time as promised, were friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. This team of guys did a great job, worked efficiently to get all the work completed as quoted. Made recommendations to correct some safety issues in our horse barn to help keep our boys safe. Cleaned up after themselves when done. Did a walk through a couple days later to ensure that the work was done to our satisfaction and any punch list items were handled. I highly recommended Solstice Electric; we will use them going forward for all our electrical needs.

Needed some help in getting an utility sink with under cabinet installed. Got a couple of estimates from licensed plumbers for around $200/$250. Came across Michael & Son in Angies list and contacted them. They responded fast and scheduled an appointment. Asked them if they needed any pictures of the sink or rough-ins in the laundry room, but did not receive any response. Technician showed up on time, opened the sink from the box (I cannot even return the sink as it was left open lying on the floor), read the manual and said it would cost $700 to install it. The plumbing rough-ins are already installed by the builder and the other two plumbers gave me the estimate for $200/$250. So, I do NOT understand why the cost would be $700. I was charged $69 for the visit, though. I guess, I will go with the other licensed plumber who can do the installation and will stay away from Michael & Son as they seem to be prohibitively expensive.
