Michael & Son

These folks were a pleasure to do business with from start to finish. Estimate and service were exactly as we discussed and done on time and at agreed upon price. I will have additional work in the future and will most likely use them again.

The old shutoff valve was not working. Provider had to cut an access hole in the drywall in order to perform the work. It was quicker than I thought it would be and the service tech was very efficient. It was a very professional job with no shortcuts. My water system was thoroughly checked for performance and leaks. I couldn't be more pleased with the work that was done. I think I just found my plumbing company for any future work that I might need.

The service provider was on time. The technician explained everything he was doing and cleaned up after everything was done.

My experience was great. "Pete the plumber"called before arriving to let me know he was near and asked where he should park. Upon meeting him he asked what my concerns were and re-affirmed what I wanted done and checked. Since I was new to Michael & Sons he explained how the company works and other services they can provide but not in a pushy way at all just answering questions I had. They (he had a trainee with him) put a mat down at my front door to wipe their feet and covered their shoes when inside the house. He inspected the things I wanted inspected and went about preparing the estimates for work I wanted done. After coming up with an estimate for the spigot he double checked with me the exact placement and explained the exact breakdown of price. I authorized them to do the work that day and they had it done amazingly fast. We inspected the work after and he answered all questions I had. The work looked great and the placement was exactly where I wanted it. He gave me useful tips for making sure it functions great through freezes in the winter. I had questions about going to a tankless water heater and he answered all those questions. Just super friendly and great service. If you need plumbing work I would 100% recommend asking if they can send out "Pete the plumber". Just top notch service, no pushy sales, fair prices.

Company is professional and responsive, but be prepared for sticker shock!

The 2 men showed up on time and were very professional. They wore disposable boots over their shoes so as not to track dirt through out house. They were very knowledgeable and their work was A+. Quick, efficient and left everything clean. Their inspection of our plumbing was extensive and they provided recommendations for preventative purposes but with no pressure to buy something. Will certainly call on them again when needed.

I bought The Deal from Michael and Son for $129.00 for $200.00 worth of work to install a ceiling fan. It takes a screwdriver and an hour of time. You'd think it would cost less than $200.00 to install a ceiling fan. Guess what? It didn't. I had to pay an extra $18.85 charged to my credit card on top of the The Deal that I had already bought. Rip Off. I will NEVER do business with Michael and Son again. Shame on you Angies List and Michael and Son.

I purchased their $129 for $200 worth of work deal. I read the other reviews raving of how great of a job they did, even doing extra without charging more and they weren't the cheapest but they were worth it, so I bought. Maybe I got the wrong company sent to us because that was not our experience. Electrician calls me letting me know he will be at my home in about 15 minutes. It was 10 in the morning and we scheduled an afternoon appt. not a big deal though, as my wife and I both work from home so one of is is always here. I wasn't home as I was out on an appt for work but my wife knew what needed to be done. There were 3 items we wanted fixed or quoted. The first was a 3 way switch which I tried to put 2 motion sensors on and neither switch worked consistently. This was the only piece of work that fit into the $200 range I purchased according the the electrician. The 2nd was a chandelier light we have hanging from a 20' ceiling where a few of the bulbs seem to burn out much faster than the others. He told my wife that to trouble shoot it he would need to take it down and wanted around $500 to do it. Granted it wouldn't be an easy job to do. so my wife asked him if he can change the bulbs (I requested they bring a ladder to get to a 20' ceiling while making the appt). He wanted to charge us $140 to put up a ladder and change 2 small halogen bulbs. Seriously? $140 to put up a ladder? Its pretty ridiculous The 3rd an outdoor motion light with existing wiring which I wanted to move about a foot from the over hang to the wall and installed. He wanted $180 to do that. My wife called me and we agreed to just have him fix the 3 way switch as I needed that done the most. I had to come home to grab some items and head to another appt. My office is in the basement where he was working. As I was trying to get stuff done so I wouldn't be late to my work appt, he started asking me questions and told me the motion sensors would not work with both of them being on the same switch. I was in a hurry and didn't have much patience to walk him through how to do his job. I told him to send me the part #'s of the switch I need and I left. After I get back home I find out he put both the motion sensors back on even though the correct switch I needed was in plain site (the switch I took out to put in the motion sensor) and to top it off he complained to my wife that I was in a bad mood. I called Lutron (the company I purchased the motion sensors from) and they walked me through how to get it all working for free and it took me 10 minutes on the phone. Total waste of $129 and I obviously would not recommend them as they just seem to want to gouge you for more money. UPDATE: After writing this review I was contacted by their GM and he was quick to try to rectify the situation. We agreed that they would send a diffferent tech out to install an outdoor motion sensor light that I wanted moved. This experience was great and I adjusted my overall grade accordingly.

I have used Michael and Son Services at least four times now for different problems and have had the absolute best customer service around. First the HVAC guy that came out was friendly and efficient and did the job correctly the first time. The electrical guys were amazing!! I cannot say enough good things about the two gentlemen that came out Robert is the best request him is you have any issues with your electrical. Very knowledgeable and trustworthy. The plumbing work we had done was completely on point as well, Adam was very quick and knowledgable as well. I would trust them to do everything in my house if they fixed everything. Absolutely would hire them over and over again. I never write reviews but felt my service was so good it definately deserved a A++ review. Great job overall!

We first placed a call for service around 2:30 pm on 4/1. They stated that they had time for one more emergency service that day so we scheduled it. By 7:30 pm no one had called or checked in with us so we called to move the appointment to the next day, as our kids would be going to bed and at that point we decided it was not worth the additional after hours charges. Around 8:15 the tech that was scheduled to come called and we let him know that we had rescheduled for the following day, apparently the service center did not notify him of the change. The service was rescheduled for 12-4 the following day. The tech called at 3:45 to let us know he was on his way and arrived closer to 4:30. The plumber was very nice and professional and had the job completed in an hour. For that hour worth of work and well under $50 worth of plumbing parts the cost was over $550. I realize that plumbers are not inexpensive but Michael and Son charges a flat rate for service instead of an hourly rate so clients do not realize that they are paying $500 an hour for a plumber. Their techs appear to be over scheduled based on the fact that on the second day we still had to wait until after our designated appointment time for someone to show up. Again, the plumber who arrived was very courteous and did the job well, however if we had known what the cost would be we never would have used this provider. Unfortunately with two kids and no water for over 24 hours we could not wait for another provider to come.

Everything went very smoothly. Robert was courteous and cooperative, left no mess or work behind for us, and did what appears to be a perfect job.

Hot water pressure suddenly slowed to a trickle, created by a block in the pipe leading from hot water heater. Tech removed pipes, cleaned it all out, and water pressure returned to normal. Very punctual, extremely friendly.

He took the time to explain the entire situation so I could understand the benefits and costs. He was very patient and suggested the work but did not push. He was very polite and efficient. When I came home from work it was all done and the electricity was back in business.

They got rid of the old tank and put in a tankless water heater. It’s working very well! They also installed a hot water pipe that circles the house so that the other end of the house gets hot water almost immediately. We are saving about $30 a month between the electric and gas bill. The pricing for the service was average and fair.

Scheduling was prompt, and although the window of time in which the technician was expected was given as large (4 hours), the company called 30 minutes prior to the technician's arrival, and the visit was punctual after that. Technician was knowledgeable, friendly, uncondescending, and thorough. Very satisfied with service. Price given reflects Angie's List deal discount. I believe the usual price for this service is $89.

I purchased a deal ($29 for Full Home Plumbing Inspection & Water Quality Test!). The rep showed up on time. We had a leak in our jetted bathtub installed in our master bath. We asked the rep to confirm and locate the source of the leak instead of doing whole house plumbing inspection and water quality test. He obliged and located the leak source. Unfortunately Michael & Son do not repair leaks with jetted whirlpools even though they are a plumbing service which was disappointing. Our engagement with this provided ended after identification of the leak source and location.

I signed up for an Angie's List deal with Michael & Son. They were supposed to call me within two days but didn't; I ended up calling them in the following week. The deal called for $200 worth of plumbing work; when I asked what that entailed, the phone person said they charged by the problem rather than by the hour so she couldn't actually answer my question. They scheduled a 4-hour window for a visit and missed the window. We rescheduled, again a 4-hour window, again missed the window. We rescheduled again, and finally the plumber showed up. When I described the symptoms, he felt the problem was most likely a leaking wax ring or flange, and he showed me a range of prices, depending on what the problem actually was. They were all very high, but since he was (finally) there, I said to go ahead. When he removed the toilet, he could show me that the problem was (as predicted) a bad wax ring on top of a broken flange. He did a good job of the repairs, all in all taking a little over an hour of his time doing the work, plus more time for him to return to his truck to confer with his office. His first bill was for over $700, which I thought was outrageous. I think it was partly based on not understanding his own pricing structure. After conferring with his office again, he came back with a price of $200, what I had already paid for. So ... the result was correct for the problem and the work seems properly done; no problems since. But the office response in terms of calling me and setting up appointments was poor, and their ability to meet promised service windows was poor, and their pricing is crazy. I will not use them again.

They replaced a hot water heater and 2 toilets. They were very professional. They came in and got it done in a timely manner.

I was a pleasure meeting Pete the Plumber! He was prompt, polite and extremely professional. He let me know exactly what was wrong with toilet and gave me some option on how to fix it. I will admit that the price seemed a little steep, but the customer service that Michael and Sons and Pete provided made it well worth it.

Great. We have used Michael and Sons for plumbing and electrical and HVAC. initially we call them in for plumbing issues - sink disposal. Really appreciated their help and the fact that they didn't try to oversell. Fixed the problem and showed me how to deal with it if it happened again -simple fix. Then we called them for help with electrical. Our new house had hanging ceiling lights that were so high off the ground that no home-owner ladder would safely reach it. They did a beautiful job making things look good and accessible. No point in calling in an electrician to change a lightbulb :-) last year purchased the HAVC maintenance plan. So far all is good. I will say that the 1st visit the tech did try to oversell several add-one / "improvements" to our ac units. But all in all the work is done well and they are very professional. Hopefully will continue using them for years.

They have a coupon on Angie's List, but then they always try to jack up the price on the service to accomodate for the price of the coupon.

The plumber from M&Sons arrived on time and was pleasant enough, but his $1800 quote was a shocker. He said we also needed to bond the gas line in case of an lightning strike because of a new code in Raleigh. All tolled for 35 feet of gas line and the bonding the cost was going to be $1800. I knew he was trying to railroad me and so I told him to beat it. I then called another plumber and electrician and they arrived the next day and both did the work that M&Sons had quoted. The difference is that their combined quote was $725. Don't use M&Sons unless you have NO OTHER CHOICE(And OF COURSE you have another choice!)

Installed another outlet to support my treadmill in our bedroom. He did excellent work - very prompt - cleaned up after himself and everything works great now! Would definitely use them again for our electrical needs. Might be a little on the pricey side, but we are very satisfied with the work!
