Michael & Son

I felt the estimate for Michael & Son was outrageous for the work in need done for $500. I called my home warranty service provider and they came out and fixed the leaking sink and a running toilet for $125 which only took them 20 minuets. Michael & Son tried to up sell me items and services that i did not need.

Jason W provided excellent service as an electrician. He did everything we asked for, made suggestions, and explored options with us. He was easy to talk to, which is important for a good salesman - he told us about available service plan options, but wasn't pushing to make sales. He explained things as he worked, so that we understood the code requirements. I had researched whole house surge protectors at Home Depot, so I was very comfortable with $388 for the model he recommended. I asked about a backup generator, and he explained the benefits and prices of transfer switches, making notes for future purchases. I will definitely ask for him, when we need electrical services again.

Michael & Son plumbers had already replaced my garbage disposal, but soon after, the garbage disposal would not turn on when we flipped the switch. I called back to set up a follow-up visit with the plumber. However, Neal, who had installed the disposal, saw my request and determined that he would be wasting my time with another plumbing visit when it sounded like I needed an electrician. So, an electrician was dispatched to my house. It is important to note that they did not charge me the usual dispatch fee since they considered this to still be a part of the original job they performed for me even though my issue was no longer a plumbing issue. Nice that one company could take care of everything. Chad called ahead and arrived exactly when he said he would. He quickly diagnosed the problem and did the work to replace it. I appreciated that Chad took the time to educate me about the issue that caused the switch to go bad in a way that I could easily understand. He advised that this was likely a problem with other switches and outlets in my house (and even checked a couple of other switches). He informed me of other services offered by Michael & Son, but at no time did he make me feel any pressure or worry that I needed to purchase any other services. Chad was very pleasant, professional and polite and I was very satisfied with the work he did in my home.

Everything about the experience and quality of work was phenomenal. Customer service Excellent. But it cost an arm and a leg. $500 is a heavy cost for the service but it was flawless work.

I was extremely pleased with my experience with this company from the time they made contact with me to set up the appointment through to the end when I got the bill. Jacob called me about 30 minutes before he expected to arrive on the day appointed and within the time frame that I scheduled. He was friendly, professional, and went right to work. He installed my lights and went out of his way to make sure that the proper silicone was used on the outside light. When it came to doing the light in the 1/2 bath, after removing the existing light he found he had to install a new box which involved doing some drywall sawing. Which made the job take a little longer than anticipated. But he left everything spic and span (vacuumed and cleaned up) and it was almost like he had never been there - except the lights looked ever so much better! I thought the price was reasonable for the amount of work that was done and would highly recommend this company based on my experience.

Technician showed up and perform a complete house inspection to look for leaks in a new home we purchased. Everything went as expected. Thanks,

Plumber's name was Everett and he was very kind and professional. He worked hard and replaced a leak in the tub - he was able to recommend cost saving coupons which was very helpful. He did not find one leak, but when I called back - he arrived the very next day which was Christmas Eve. Very good service.

Nothing but good things to say about this company and my first experience with them. I had an old garbage disposal that stopped working and I was pretty sure it needed to be replaced. So, before I even called a plumber, I did a little research about garbage disposals so I would have a good idea of the kind I wanted to buy and what the cost should be. I called Michael & Son because of the good reviews I read on Angie's List. I also liked that they offered coupons with specific discounts for garbage disposal service on their website. The people I spoke to when calling to make appointments were very friendly and easy to talk to. I wanted an early morning appointment, but I needed them to come after 8:45 because I'm busy taking my kids to school. They scheduled me for the 8 am time frame, but I figured I would not hear from them until later in the morning since I couldn't be available right at 8. This was not the case, though! I was still first on their list and they planned their arrival based on when I would be back home! So nice. They call when they are on their way and you know exactly when to expect them. Chad was the first person to come to my home and check my disposal. He did a thorough inspection and determined that it did indeed need to be replaced. He showed me where it had rusted and he did a good job of making sure I felt certain that it needed to be replaced as well. He had garbage disposals on his truck that could be installed that day, but since I had already done the research about disposals and knew that I could save some money by purchasing the disposal myself, I asked if I could buy the disposal on my own and then have him come back and install it. Without hesitation, he told me that was absolutely ok and he even looked at the model I wanted to purchase online with me to make sure I was buying the right thing. I should mention that they did stock good disposals on their trucks that were priced similar to the retail prices I had seen online at smaller stores. However, I found some great prices at the warehouses that can afford to deeply discount these disposals because that is all they stock and sell so I could get a better price that way. The point is, Michael & Son did not have a problem with that and Chad did not pressure me in any way to buy what they stock on their trucks. I appreciated that very much! I really expected a little bit of pressure to do the job that day and Chad made the whole experience way more pleasant than I expected it to be. I made an appointment to have the disposal installed a few days later. Neal did the installation and he did a great job. He was very professional and did the job much quicker than I expected. He also took the time to show me things I needed to know about my new disposal. He took away the old disposal and any other trash and boxes so that I didn't have any sort of mess to deal with after he left. Neal had a lot of nice things to say about his company and I liked that because it's good to know that the person you are trusting to take care of repair work in your home really likes his job and the people he works for! Both Neal and Chad were very pleasant, polite, knowledgeable and took great care not to make a mess in my house. It was such a positive experience and I will not hesitate to call on Michael & Son again. They have earned my trust!

The work was fine. He was timely and cleaned up after himself. Used drop cloths to protect the carpet. He knew his work but , the cost even with a military discount and the 40% off coupon was extraordinarily high. Would look for a less expensive alternative next time.

They sent a worker within a couple hours to assess the situation. Besides the meter panel, the worker also wanted to replace the circuit breaker panel, stating that it was wore out. He also said there were 4 circuit breakers that would need to be replaced with the new arc protector breakers, at $200. a pop, in order to pass inspection. His original estimate was well over $5000. I declined replacing the circuit breaker panel and said I could buy the new breakers for less than $45, each at Lowes. He agreed to replace the breakers at $40. a piece and quoted me the $2600 estimate. Since I didn't have time to shop around, I agreed to the terms. The worker was back the next day, replaced the meter panel and got the job inspected. I will say that the completed work was acceptable. He mentioned it cost $400 to have Duke turn off electricity to the house and $600 for the inspection. I was later told that those prices were exaggerated and that it wasn't necessary to replace the breakers. I dinged Professionalism and will not use them again because I don't trust their estimates.

Jason Woodward was the electrician that Michael & Son sent out. Hey was punctual, took great precautions to keep our floors kitchen area clean while he worked, and was very knowledgeable. In no time he had the new 220V outlet installed. During our casual conversation I mentioned a problem we have had with several counter top wall sockets for 25 years. We had a problem with certain wall sockets working only intermittently. We have had numerous electricians try to troubleshoot and repair them across the years. Jason said he knew exactly what was wrong with the defective sockets and pulled one off to show us the problem I was shocked all the others had missed the problem. I readily agreed to him replacing the multiple defective sockets with a better quality socket and was so happy that now all our wall sockets work as intended. Jason is an excellent electrician and I highly recommend him to any one looking for a small job or a big job. He can handle them all. In fact we were so impressed with Jason that we will request him to install a new lighting system in our kitchen remodel later in the year. We also requested him to come back and install a new range hood we ordered which he did at a future date. Once again we are very pleased with everything he has done and will special request him in the future for all our electrical needs. Thanks Jason for all your hard work.

I contacted Michael & Son for pricing to replace 4 shut off valves in the master bathroom. The person taking my call was very polite but said they were unable to provide pricing over the phone. A team would need to come onsite and provide the quote. They scheduled the appointment for the same day. When they arrived they were both very polite throughout the visit. However, from the start, their priority was to sign me up for an annual maintenance agreement. The looked at the job and told me that it would cost $672 to replaced 4 shut off valves and the job would take an hour. After listening to all the benefits of the annual agreement, I chose not to get any service done as the price was way more than I expected. It was then that they advised I was responsible for a $29 trip charge, which was the first time I had heard about that. To their credit, since no one mentioned that to me, they did waive that charge. The next day I contacted another plumber and had the work done for $161.

The plumber showed up on time and the work was done without incident and as specified. The plumber was friendly and took the time to explain what he was doing. Would recommend Michael and Sons to anyone.

I had originally paid for them to come out to do an inspection as I thought we had a leak somewhere since our water bill had gone increasingly higher. Since I wasn't sure where the leak was, but had a suspicion, I wanted an inspection. My adult daughter, however, told them as soon as they got there that she thought the problem was in her bathroom and with the toilet. That turned out to be true. They were very professional and helpful as well as quick. I also wanted whoever came out to install a new faucet in the other bathroom. They not only installed the new faucet, but cleaned out the pipe that connected to the bathroom sink faucet. I would use this company again as I received quick and professional service.

It went very well. The plumber was very professional and friendly. He explained what he needed to do as well as explained what he was doing while making the repairs. I put my name on the waiting list (pretty much knew I wouldn't see a plumber that day) but to my surprise not only were they able to send out a plumber, he came on time and worked past 8pm until the job was done......without complaint. M&S may not be the cheapest but I would use them again in a heartbeat as well as recommend them to anyone looking for an honest plumber.

I guess everything was fine. They were really expensive even with the coupon so I might consider looking elsewhere next time but they did a good job. They are very timely and they do good work but they are a bit pricey.

Service was great! The technician was knowledgeable, friendly and explained things in great detail. We will use them again in the future.

Got a quick call to confirm scheduling. Got notification driver on way. Driver reviewed work, generated a quote, but I thought the quote was way to high. I asked for confirmation based on the disconnect being a $20 part, and it being less than an hour of work, but they confirmed the pricing is pre defined per-task and non-negotiable, so I declined the work and will return the "deal" voucher I have. Their quote: HVAC service disconnect replace - $385 Single light switch replace - $178 I called a local electrician, sent picture of the disconnect, he quoted $140 for parts/labor for the disconnect, and came out the next business day and his team took care of it quickly and were very professional as well.

Joe Lomax did a wonderful job in replacing the garbage disposal. He thoroughly cleaned up after the install, explained how the new disposal worked, took the old disposal with him and was overall professional and courteous! Many thanks to Joe! The overall price was reasonable after using the Angie's list coupon.

The technician came on time. He had to take the faucet apart and run a piece of wire thru the opening in the base of the faucet. That took care of the problem.

Michael and Son's sent Greg, an electrician, to help me get a new receptacle installed in my garage. Greg was professional, timely and did fantastic work including making great suggestions on how best to resolve the electrical problems I had. He fixed things up making my garage safer and getting me the receptacle I needed. Based on this visit I would recommend Greg and Michael and Son's for electrical work anytime. -Todd Pratt

It was fair enough. Responsiveness was fine.

Big Deal purchase to have whole house plumbing and water quality inspection and to quote various other needed jobs. Plumber called said he was running early and would like to come before scheduled time. No problem - left work early to head to the property. 45 minutes after new scheduled arrival time I called to see where he was. Apparently last job took longer and he was now running even later than the originally scheduled time. Frustrated I left work early and was now waiting around when he *just* called and said he'd be early. Plumber came and made the rounds - pointing out a few things here and there worth addressing. This alone made the Big Deal worth it. I had him quote a couple of the suggested changes as well as some other bigger jobs I needed done. His quotes were "by the book" and literally two to three times higher than multiple other quotes already received from licensed plumbers. Needless to say, I didn't have any additional work done. Plumber was professional and friendly. No complaints there. Apologized that his hands were tied on the pricing. The Big Deal was to include a water quality inspection which was never performed. Even without that done, I feel I got more than my money's worth by the general inspection. However, given the outrageously higher quotes for various jobs I won't be calling this company again.

Service was on time, very professional support. Two technicians came and performed both jobs. They took time to explain what they were going to do and provided feedback once complete. I am extremely pleased.

From the phone call to schedule the service to the completion of the job, everyone was very professional. Information about the appointment was conveyed clearly. Neal was very friendly and very thorough. One of the faucets continued to leak and he did extensive trouble shooting. He needed to return at a later date after we purchased a new faucet. Turns out the old one had corroded internally. He returned and finished the job without problem. He was extremely professional and answered all of my questions fully. I would recommend Michael and Sons to friends and will use them in the future if necessary.
