The work was done. INCREDIBLY OVERPRICED. It would have been more expensive but they waived a diagnostic fee after seeing how displeased I was with the cost. I felt obligated to accept their services since I had already paid $129 for $200 worth of work. I also had a military discount which helped me out some, but god bless any other random citizen who didn't have a coupon or discount of any kind. I will never use their services again. And for the price of all the work, I would've thought that I wouldn't have to clean after the electrician. My home is on the market and had already been deep cleaned, but after he left I had to go around picking up pieces of wiring left on the floor and bathroom countertops.

John, the electrician from Michael & Son arrived right at the time he said he would be here and went over pricing and options before any work was approved. I agreed on the scope to be done and he got right to it. In pretty quick order all was fixed and he was on his way. Very professional and knowledgeable about code. I thought the prices were a bit high but I could see they used only high quality materials and I did get the Angie's List special. I would recommend them and use them again.

Good for the small repairs. Way too expensive for the larger repair (toilet seal). Ended up using a different contractor who did the same job for half the price. Employee was very nice and no drama when I did not want the repair done due to the cost.

Install went well. They were able to install the same week. However, the follow up customer service was awful. I had to call to schedule the inspection and 2 subsequent re-inspections. I also had to call to confirm the inspection was complete and the system passed inspection. No one called me to follow-up on how the HVAC system was operating. Again, the system install went well and the system is operating normally but overall, very poor follow-up customer service. I'm interested to see if someone will call me to schedule the service this winter.

Michael & Son (specifically, Chad) did an amazing job. Their customer service is outstanding...from start to finish. From the first phone call to set up my appointment, to my reminder calls the day of service, to Chad calling me letting me know he was on his way to the house, they were all true professionals. And, we are absolutely pleased with Chad's work. I highly recommend Michael & Son.

They advised me not to do it because my house is on a slab. Don't understand how everyone else got it done. Will find out who my neighbors used. Now I am stuck with a prepaid plumbing bill that I cannot use. Don't know if this is a good idea or not paying ahead of the service.

The Tech was there 5 minutes before my wife, and called both of us and threatened to reschedule the appointment if we weren't at the home (after I told him she has a 35 minute drive from the office back to the house and he only gave 30 minutes heads up); he looked at the box, and said because it is older that he wouldn't be able to complete the simple repair since they wouldn't be able to warranty the box, so it would have to be replaced, which would be upwards of $3K. Then he had to wait for a snake to no longer be visible (over 20 feet away from breaker box, and non-poisons) before he would put the breaker box back the way he found it. To look at the GFCI outlet it would be another $150. That is on top of the $40 just to have someone come out to the house. If you have an older home DO NOT USE MICHAEL & SON!!! The appointment was easy to make, and the call center reps are very nice...but once they get to the house, it all goes downhill.

I purchased a Deal from Angie's list, $119 for 200 in labor. I figured this job was about an hour of work and that should cover the labor. When I purchased the deal, I sent a message telling the provider what I needed and how to contact me. I waited two days with no response from the provider. So I called on the third day, telling them I purchased the deal and the work I needed done. I ended the phone call by confirming the Angie's deal, and asking if there were any other charges (other than parts) that I could anticipate. The woman assured my no other charges. Well, two days later the plumber calls my wife and says he's running early, of course she is still at work. So she quickly gets out of there to meet the plumber at the house. He looks at the job and quotes her more than $600.00! This was to replace/upgrade two outdoor hose faucets. Access under the house is easy and clean, and there is enough room to comfortably sit up in both locations. There is already cut-off valves in each line. I see in reviews their price is generally high, but this is outrageous. When I called their office to speak with someone about it, I was told no one was available. They sent me to a voice mail. Left a message and didn't hear back.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY! The Good: Scheduling the appointment went well. The electrician arrived on time and was pleasant and professional. He had completed his work in one hour and twenty minutes. The Bad: Within four hours of run time the under cabinet lights were no longer working. This necessitated a second visit. Apparently the wrong ballast was installed on the initial visit. The Ugly: The original visit was 629.00 Parts and labor(entry to exit time 80 minutes) The electrician did return early the next business morning to install the correct ballast. All seems well now.

We were very pleased with the work Michael & Son did to find our septic tank and make it easy to clean in the future. We have lived in our house for over 34 years and never had the septic tank pumped. Several families had lived in the house for 6 years prior to us. We had many people out over the years to locate it. Before we built a deck, we got the septic plan from Wake county, and had the man who signed it out. He said the plan bore no resemblance to reality, and that it could not be where the plan showed. After we retired, and were home all the time, we decided that we needed to find it. We had about 4 people out, some highly recommended on Angie's list. They would come out, hem and haw, and then not show up for the next appointment. This went on for about six months. We had one guy with ground penetrating radar, but unfortunately it cannot see very deep in our NC clay. Finally we called Michael & Son, and Rob came out. Rob listened to our story and was convinced he could find it. He narrowed it down to the area where we already knew it had to be, somewhere out from the lowest toilet downstairs. He removed the toilet and tried sending a camera through the opening. But this led to a convoluted piping setup that only reached to the edge of the house. By this time he had been here about 6 hours, and we were all tired. So, he came up with a plan for the next step. They would bring in their heavy digging equipment, and they would follow the pipe where it left the house. They could not arrange this until several weeks in the future. Sure enough, they showed up on schedule and started digging. Within a few hours they had found the edge of the tank, about 5 feet down, and a little farther out than we expected. They did break the pipe, but were actually okay with that, since it showed we did not have any backup. They repaired the pipe quickly, and also took care to not break some pvc drainage pipe we had in the yard. At this point we had a big hole in our yard, and we entered into a final plan to install risers to bring the opening up to the surface. We were finally ready to have the tank cleaned. At that time Michael & Son did not have equipment to clean. The person they found did not show up. Finally, Rob came out and sat at the house until he showed. Rob then worked with the man to be sure it got very clean. Rob wanted to install a riser with an extra large diameter, which required a special order. We waited over 3 weeks. They were in contact, but nothing was happening. Finally we called the manager. He thought the special riser had been shipped, but as he dug deeper it appeared they were no longer available. We all agreed the regular riser would be fine. We scheduled the riser install, which would include inspecting the dbox. If it was okay, our septic system was working properly. The dbox inspection went well, and we could finally rest easy with a completely functional system. In summary, Michael &Son was the type of company we needed, with their digging equipment and plumbing knowledge. The cost was expensive. Rob was good to work with, and all the workers were polite and competent.

I contacted Michael & Son due to a leak from hall bath shower. The plumber, Brooks determined that the shower diverter needed to be replaced. He seemed professional and friendly. The diverter would need to be ordered and a date set for completing the job. I had purchased the coupon from Angie's list for $120 for up to $200 of work by Michael & Son. Brooks suggested I save that for the return visit and I paid $150 for the first visit. I was given an estimate of $326 for cost of diverter and installing. I was told that the diverter was expensive and cost $160 and that they normally double the cost of a piece to determine install price. That seemed like an excessive charge for the piece and the install. I called the manufacturer of our shower trim piece and asked them about the cost of the diverter. I was told that charge was "absurd" and indeed the piece would be either be free to order or very inexpensive. (In fact our whole shower trim kit cost less than the quote for the small piece) The story goes on with calls and emails to Michael & Son. It includes being told different prices, wrong part ordered and changes in what was included in service call. We had Michael & Son complete the job only because they took our diverter with them so it made it difficult to order on our own and because we had already purchased the coupon from Angie's. We would NOT have them back out for future jobs. Unfortunately we can not recommend Michael & Son. I do think they are knowledgable and would be able to complete a repair job, If you do use them I suggest getting an email proving what they tell you over the phone regarding estimates and fees being applied to cost of work. (BTW- Danze, inc the manufacturer was quite helpful and sent us a free diverter. Below is a screen shot of the charge from Michael & Son. )

It went well! Allen was awesome! He called before he arrived, then when he arrived he automatically put booties on. He came in via an emergency call, investigated the situation and agreed that the smoke detector was very old and malfunctioning. He was patient with me and ensured I understood each task he was doing. Even though only one smoke detector was malfunctioning he replaced both as a precaution. He also let me use Angie's List coupons for the work.

It didn't -- I left the message for the firm through Angie's around 10 am July 24. By the end of July 25, still had not heard a word, despite Angie's message that I should be hearing from it "soon." I asked to be scheduled between July 24 and 26. Realize plumbers are especially busy this time of year. What I don't accept is that no one called me back in two days. I have asked Angie's to resolve this, so I'm not charged.

We requested electrical service to fix in my rental property, the electrician who visited to take care of it, did the daignosis and recommended three level of fixes (ranging from fixing the one electrical point that had issues , 2nd option being to fix the switches/outlets for the entire room, finally fixing all the switches and the outlets for the entire house costing anywhere from 150$ to 2300$ approx) and also he had conversation with my tenant and mentioned that the whole house needs to be fixed otherwise there could be a fire hazard and that naturally put lot of stress on both me and my tenants on what option (out of the three) needs to be selected, as per the NC standard code of fix for the residential property I selected to fix the one point that had issue, this was initially acceptable to our tenants, I had to go back and forth for weeks to make my tenant understand the option that I was selecting is just sufficient to fix the issue. The electrician who visited my property and the company denied having conversation, but I have all the proof about the claim my tenant made in writing and my property manager was there too as another witness on what happened, this company is using scare tactic to get business out of unsuspecting customers and charge them to make profit for the company, after all this company sent an email to ask how our experience was, and I responded strongly and since then they didn't even contacted me as they may not know how to defend themselves, in total I realized what a big mistake it was to hire this company to fix the issue and as a family we regretted that decision and I do not intent to use their service in the future and I do not recommend. There are many short stories to this epic and I have chosen to state only the summary of what happened. In total it was very poor execution of service from the company and there is no such thing called supervision by the management and total lack of professionalism from the electrician on how to conduct themselves at a client location. Bad Experience.

Terrible! They would not give me a price over the phone but told me the service tech would price it on-site. When the tech arrived he told me it would cost $629 for 1-1.5 hours of labor (over $400/hr) + $29 for the service call. I balked at this and he explained they price by the job. I told him that I had asked for an estimate when making the app't and if they priced by the job, they should have given me the estimate then. He told me they didn't work that way, but I still owed him for the service call.

Went very well. Our water heater sprung a leak after 18 years on a Saturday. They said they would come that day and assess the situation. I got a call from Everett to let me know his schedule. I appreciated that. After he got to our house and looked at it he was very professional and gave us all options. Great communication. We decided to have them replace the water heater and Everett started working. He answered all of our questions and was very professional. The work was pro! He explained everything he did. Employees like Everett with his professionalism, customer service mentality and knowledge are what would make us choose this company again.

Workmanship exceeded our carefully researched expectations every step of the way. Michael & Son educated us on the value of a variable speed condenser in preventing AC short-cycling; and of avoiding use of a 90+ efficiency furnace in the attic which can cause short-cycling. They did a very clean install, plus they included an updated-type micro-air filter element and housing on the blower input plenum with an oversized input air duct. They also cheerfully moved the vapor trap for the condensation water drain from our crawlspace to the attic for better serviceability, and installed it with screw joints so it can be removed and cleaned out without cutting or gluing pipes - all at no extra charge even though moving the trap wasn't in our contract. We found their pricing to be fair and reasonable based on the unofficial system pricing we found online. The two workmen spent a long day in 90 degree heat and an afternoon downpour to finish the job in one day; they even hauled away the refuse of the shrub that they had to remove to make room for the AC condenser. We've already hired Michael & Son for another project - bathroom fan installation.
