Leon Home Repairs

For starters, I cannot remember the exact total for the services [we ended up adding additional services]. However, the prices were reasonable. To get the process started, someone came to our home to give us an estimate for the services. Then, the owner called directly to give us information regarding the cost and the estimated length of time it would take. The crew was prompt, friendly and professional. After returning home from work, everything was in order. The leaning tree [that was leading towards our home], stumps, and other trees we had asked to be removed were completely gone. There wasn't any trash left in the yard. They did a superb job!!! We plan on using them in the future [should we need additional trees removed].

Horrible. These men were "contractors" and did not know how to measure and cut boards. The boards were new and I had them painted and ready to put up. Any experienced carpenter could have put the boards up quickly. They made a mess, left small nails on my floor and it still stnads unfinished with items protecting the floor so my small puppy doesn't eat the tiny nails and die. They made deep pencil lines on the boards that cannot be erased and the cuts are uneven and I have tried to calk them. They completely made a mess of my beautiful wall and now want more money to finish the job. I never want anyone from this company back in my home again,

I paid for the full day handyman. Communication and their responsiveness was horrible. I explained that I worked from home and needed to set up a time in advance so that I could adjust my work schedule. We agreed on the date to do the work. Someone came out and looked at what I needed done. He confirmed the date that we had already agreed on. The morning of the date they were supposed to come, I got an email saying that they were not coming. He had sent it after 9:00 the night before. We set up another date. I confirmed this time with him the night before he was to show up. Again, I changed my work schedule, 20 mins. before he was to show up I got a text message saying that they had car trouble and could not make it. I would like to believe this was true, but he complained to me a few times that it took him a long time to get to my home. I live close to downtown Durham. We set up another date, now three and a half weeks after paying for the service. This time someone showed up. I explained my priority with what I needed done. For whatever reason, he decided to not do the work in the priority of what I wanted done. About 1:30 pm, I told him that I really needed him to focus on getting the floor and the vanity installed, he had still not done it. When his eight hours was done, he had not finished. I need to hire someone else to finish the job. I will not hire them back. I would like to give them an F , but they did show up and work.

It took nearly 3 weeks for the provider to come out and they were non-responsive on many occasions. They didn't read the notes I provided or answer questions I asked about parts ot buy, etc. Once they came out and performed, they did okay though they only sent one workman so it took him the full four+ hours to complete the work. I'd say the quality of the work was okay but the communication gaps was really frustrating. At least they finally showed up and did the work so I increased the overall grade from an F to a C. I suggested to them that they dedicate someone to answer their emails and phone calls more promptly.

I have used Leon Home Repairs three times for various projects around the house and all I can say is wow what great service!!! Edison is the worker they sent out and he is absolute perfection, professional and knowledgable. I would 100% use them for any project around my house. He helped me save money by not replacing my entire deck but fixing the broken boards and staining it. They finished everything in a timely manner and barely took a break for themselves (and they worked in 100 degree weather all day). I was very impressed by the skill level and work that was completed. Thank you!!

Overall pleasure to work with Chris Leon (owner) and his brother Edison, who was there for the entire job with a helper each day. Edison was professional, patient, and fast. The entire job was completed in 9 working days, mostly by Edison himself with no additional subcontractors parading through the house. We originally asked for quotes from six vendors, and Chris was the first to respond with a home visit and with a quote. The final price came within 10% of the original estimate, and included unforeseen work in my 35 year old house - floors that needed leveling, plumbing that had to be moved to accommodate a vanity I purchased, and a variety of small extra tasks that added up in total labor time spent on the job. The estimate given by Chris was straightforward - a quote for labor only, with an estimate for materials used in construction (plumbing valves and fittings, concrete board, drywall, shower waterproofing materials, etc.) There was no additional markup for owner purchases, and no separate charges for demo, cleanup, etc. In addition to the final invoice that I paid, I spent about $10,000 for owner purchases - toilets, vanities, vanity tops, flooring, tile, and a separate bill from a recommended contractor (Martin) for installation of a frameless shower door in the master bath. Note that Leon Home Repairs is not a design consultant. They do the work you request, and it's up to you to find the best brand or color of materials. Some other shops may offer turnkey service where you come into their showroom and just pick out what you want. If that's for you, fine, but you'll pay a lot more for the entire job. I was comfortable doing my own research and picking out quality, functional items at good prices, much of which came from the Home Depot (online, where there's a new world of choices beyond what they sell in the store). The biggest luxury purchase was tile, where I spent about $2000 (included in the $10,000) for quality imported porcelain tile for the small master shower and floors. In fact, waiting for the tile to arrive from Italy held up the job midstream from my end, but Chris was accommodating in moving his schedule around to time the arrival of the tile. Overall, I was very pleased with all aspects of the work. After admiring my master bath tile now for about six weeks, I still can't find any tiles out of place, crooked, or mismatched. A superb tiling job by Edison and a great experience all around.

These guys advertised a 399 dollar all day handyman service. I needed new drywall for my dining room and kitchen area...they said yes, then showed up and said "there are electrical outlets and switches in the room???" we cannot put new drywall in there, we can't relocate the switches....W**, how can you say "handyman sevices" on your add...you are not rewiring an electrical system for the room, it's EXISTING hardware...of course there are electrical outlets and switches in the room....ridiculous...

The contractor arrived on time and started work immediately. He had to trim some shrubbery back from the deck to begin his actual assignment (did an okay job at this, the plants will recover). He removed the old lattice without damaging the framing it was attached to and replaced it with new that was neatly cut, matched and installed securely. He devised a unique, hidden gate system to allow access to beneath the deck at two places. Very pleased with the work and the price.

Chris and his crew are a great group of workers. Very honest and hard-working. Their first job was to repair wood rot. The came in initially, took pictures and measured to create an estimate. When they came in to do the work, they found SEVERAL more areas of rot and consulted with me before working. They also lay flooring in my kitchen. They installed vinyl with grout and the floor looks great. I couldn't be happier with their service, professionalism and quality.

The team was dressed and behaved professionally and communicated well with us. We knew exactly what time they would arrive each day and they informed us when they were taking a lunch break. They actually found more water damage than we had noticed ourselves. The match of the paint was exact and you cannot tell repairs have been made. The roof of the screened in porch looks brand new after the repair and refinishing of the bead board. We are very happy with the results and would definitely use this contractor again.

We had a great experience with this purchase- can't recommend them more highly! On time and very professional.

At first I had trouble reaching the provider by phone and eventually was able to get a hold of them via email. After going over the work I needed done the provider told me that the deal wouldn't cover the time needed for the job and then came out to provide an estimate for the total cost of the job, but I have yet to receive anything back on that estimate and need to have the work done. So I have decided to cancel the deal and go elsewhere for this service.

The gentleman that performed the services worked a full day, and was very courteous and kept the mess to a minimum. More work was accomplished than we had expected (in fact the guest bathroom remodel was almost completely done at the end of the day). The quality was excellent, and we'd definitely contact them again for more jobs and recommend them to others.

The work looks professional, however, I informed the repairman that bugs get in thru the windows in the summer and they continue to get in despite being informed that the windows were repaired to correct that issue.

The first time it went okay. The guy was fast and got a lot of stuff done. The second time, Leon sent a different guy. He was slow and only completed one job. He started to work on another job and left it unfinished. He took an hour to get supplies he was 45 minutes late and he starting packing up half an hour early. I wrote an email to Leon about the poor service we received the second time and Leon's response was we try to make every happy....Leon said nothing about sending someone to finish and making things right. Leon is awful!!

I am only providing a 2nd review because the contractor, once he received my email about the high cost, said he would revisit the estimate and get back to me. I have still not heard from him. Nice person to deal with, but the cost was extremely high.

It was a very big project and investment and important to us to select a contractor that we felt we trusted. We were very pleased with Chris Leon and his team. We were struggling with winter and cold weather, but Chris worked diligently to schedule his team in between the inclement weather. He was very responsive to our requests/calls and offered good solutions. He came out to assess progress on the house frequently (there were times we asked him to come by daily and he did). He was very professional and did several walks with us to be sure we were satisfied. Whenever we pointed out a few things we would like touched up, he immediately had them done. We were very happy with the quality of work done and would hire Leon Home Repairs again in a heartbeat!

Leon Home repair is not reliable. They showed up when they wanted to and not at the scheduled time. Shelving they installed is loose already.

The demolition of the existing sliding door and installation of the new door went more smoothly than I thought possible. Leon's crew told me exactly what they needed before they started the work and did exactly what they said they would do. They worked on the blinds while they were waiting for me to get back with extra materials. I've never had an experience with a contractor as smooth as this — and I used to be a contractor.

Chris & his team were great. They were on time, very professional, friendly, organized and provided timely updates & estimates for additional repairs. Final price was exactly in line with estimates. Only positive things to say about Leon Home Repairs.

I've called Leon Home Services 3 times to schedule an estimate appointment and nobody calls me back. I have tried calling both numbers listed. I am now moving on to another company.

He argued about what should be done and how it should be done. He said he should use a paint remover not sand. As far as I know he did not have the paint remover--he would have had to travel miles to get one and waste time. At any rate I have a bird and nixed the idea re fumes. His sander was very small and maybe old, it took him hours when a good sander would have taken a half hr. He never got to the painting--I did it. He tried to disassemble the elliptical and only got a few parts off. He did not move it. The sanding itself was decent.

I have tried several times to reach him and was never able to connect or schedule to have this service completed. I have contacted Angie?s List for my full refund.

What a wonderful experience! Dimas the worker that come to help today was very professional and absolutely outstanding on his services. I would 100% hire them again. It is so hard to find good help and he fixed numerous items in my house in a timely manner very impressed by this company and staff. Ask for Dimas if you use this service!
