Not good..in the beginning the floor was not laid straight, wrong color flooring, dark brown boards laid within the honey boards and now all boards are squeaking. We received rude customer service from the owners.

Response from Lee's Hardwood Floors Inc
Hello Horans. Glad to see you are doing well and still at it! First off this is the wrong catagory we do hardwood floors not carpet cleaning ;). I would definitely get with the builder on the squeaky subfloor. Hardwood floors don’t squeak the subfloor does. As I recall we did this insurance job for a builder not you, the builder signed off on all work done including the floor grade and color. Wood is a natural product of nature and is variable. I have not seen one picture in any of your many posts on the multitude of places you have posted your “opinion” over the last 4 years to show the “horrible” job we did. Please note that you have never contracted with our company to do any work of any kind and have never paid our company one penny. The work was approved and paid for 100% by the builder as a job well done. Your expectations after your home flooded were set with the builder and he approved our work. We did our best to discuss your unreasonable expectations and even let you and your wife sit in our showroom full of customers and show yourself like a 2 year old pitching a fit. You have harassed us and we have let it go. You are welcome to continue, that can be your right. But know that most people see right through your posts. We are still in business and even doing work in your neighborhood. Have a truly great day. Stay in touch!! :)

I just had Lee's Hardwood Floors replace the carpet in our master bedroom with hardwood floors to match the hardwoods in the rest of our downstairs. They did a wonderful job. In order to best match the other rooms, the floors needed oil based poly vs water based. Their team of workers is very professional, shows up to work as expected and is meticulous in their work. I was very pleased with the process, from my original appointment with Daniel to discuss the project, to the scheduling with their office, to the installation with their work crews. They seem to have a very effective team to meet the needs of their customers. I appreciate how easy they made the process and I would certainly hire them again for future work.

I had originally picked another company to work with but that fell through. I wanted brazilian walnut flooring which is expensive. I googled brazilian walnut and found Lee's flooring then checked them out on Angie's List and found good reviews. I had a good feeling about the rep that came to do the estimate. As it turned out they had an estimate that fit my budget so I went with them. There guys arrived when they said they would and they did a great job. I was very happy with Lee's and would use them again.

I had received 3 quotes for a medium size project and choose Lees Hardwood Floors.. I made my choice based on the professionalism of the visit, the expertise offered to make sure the job was done well and for the extra advise to help the make the floors as nice as possible. The cost was slightly more but it was worth it in the long run! The job went very well with just a few minor problems. As soon as I expressed concern there was a plan in place with dates and times to correct the issues. I did not have to worry about the result or if dealing with any staff was difficult. Its' a solid company that does what they say they will do! Unusual for today's service industry.

This was the third job they did for us. I think we got the "b" team this time. We had two issues with this project. First, I had discussed with their project manager, Jeremy, how we wanted to handle two thresholds between adjoining rooms. That was not translated to the installers, who did it differently. When I confronted the installers the next day, I was told they could try to revise it, but they could not guarantee how it would come out. I told them I wanted to talk to Jeremy ASAP. That never happened. Second, after the finish coat, you can now see all the overlap marks from the staining process. The floor does not look uniform, and this did not happen with either of the previous jobs. Not their best work, and the only solution would be to re-sand the entire floor, etc. Very disruptive.

This company (and Jeremy, in particular) was a pleasure to work with. We had them install roughly 1200 square feet of pre-finished, engineered hardwood floor on a slab foundation. From initial contact, to sales, to installation, to completing the final punch list, they made quality a top priority and ensured that the work was done in a timely manner. Would definitely recommend them to friends and family and would certainly hire them again in the future.

Job was completed on time as promised and overall we are VERY happy with the results. We did find a little "chip" in the newly installed hardwood and we spoke to the crew and then the office to inquire about how to fix this. The next day they showed up and repaired the chip and it looks flawless . There were also some minor nicks to the wall which they spackled (but not painted as per their waiver which we signed) and I totally understand this minor damage happening since they were working in a narrow stairwell.

I was not happy with them. They got stain on all of my baseboards on the first floor and I had to paint them. That was not acceptable. I would not use them again. The price was fair and good. They were very professional but the work wasn't good. They should have protected my baseboards and told me ahead of time. I expected a little bit of stain on some baseboards, but I had to paint all of them in the basement. They got it on the door frame as well. I had to pay someone to do that. They were fast, they did it while we were on vacation. That was nice.

I have not used another vendor for hardwood installation, so I have nothing to compare it to from an overall quality perspective. Overall we are happy with the job and the ultimate outcome - but there were some bumps in the road. Kudos to Todd, Romeo and his partner (I wish I could remember his name - I think it was Richard) for showing pride and quality in their work and attention to detail. Todd installed our new treads on our stairs and his woodworking skills were top notch. Romeo and his partner saved us from what could have been a horrible stain matching experience as well as going above and beyond to repair some of the mistakes made by previous crews with the pre-finished installation. I would give them "A" ratings on all accounts, but since I have to rate everyone on an average scale, I gave the entire project a B rating. Outside of these star performers, I do feel that this company could have done a better job from a services perspective. They provide very little communication regarding their process. My job took a full week but not once did anyone make a pro-active call to inform me when workers would arrive, what would be happening that day (outside of a punch list sheet I received at contract signing) or to confirm I was satisfied with the quality of the work. On a daily basis I had to email or call their offices with my questions and concerns. Some days crews would come early, then later in the day, etc..... I was home waiting and had no idea when to expect people. The other issue is that they sent different people almost every day. I'm happy that at least all of the issues we reported were promptly addressed without conflict. If I could offer one suggestion to this company is that they should have a single job leader that sticks with the project from start to finish, reviews the work of others and communicates daily with the homeowner regarding what is happening and what to expect. If they would add this small change to their structure, I think they would have a lot more success with less customer issue. Another reviewer noted their extremely wordy protection waiver that you must sign. I too agree this is also off-putting as a customer. It almost gives the crew free reign to damage whatever they want and know they won't be responsible. While we knew that Lee's did not do the painting work for the risers and shoe molding - we didn't realize how much painting we'd have to do after they left because of all the knicks and scratches done to our walls during the installation process. We also found stains on our stair rails (which are not being replaced) where they dripped the stair tread stain which was a different color. Again, some employees were more careful then others about cleaning up after themselves and not dripping stain, etc... while others seemed to not be as careful. There were times when tape or a drop cloth should have been used and they were not. Overall the job came out well and all issues found along the way were fixed, the price was higher than we would have liked, but we did appreciate the quality work done by some of their crew members to ensure we ultimately were happy with the final result.

I received 3 quotes, and Lee's was the highest by far. But our interior designer said that Lee's was the ONLY group that she would recommend, and their reviews were great overall. I wanted it done right by a professional group, and that's exactly what we got. They were extremely professional and did an outstanding job. The cut no corners and made sure that we were entirely satisfied with their work. We would recommend them highly.

After Lee's Hardwoods charged my credit card for my $1,500 deposit, I was advised I had to sign paperwork releasing them from any and all damage they may do to my home while re-sanding and finishing my floors. I did not sign the paperwork and they cancelled the job saying they will refund my money with a "check in the mail". Examples given to me by Tina Lee: If a guy puts a handprint on wall that won't wipe off, they will not be responsible for repainting the wall. WHAT? Yep, that's right. I would have to pay for their damage to my walls when they're coming to restore floors? In this case, I would have to pay to paint the entire downstairs and stairway because they can't keep their hands off the walls or "30 years", as she says, of other sloppiness. At no time during the sales process, and certainly not before they took my $1,500 deposit, did anyone mention that small little detail. She repeatedly stated after 30 years of construction they had learned a thing or two, it is construction, blah blah blah. Silly me, I thought construction was to improve your house and not damage it.

Mr. Lee was very courteous and helpful. He came to the house, looked at my issues, and then told me how to fix them myself. He told me that he'd be happy to do the job, but he thought I should know that these were things I probably didn't need to spend money on by hiring a professional. I was stunned at his honesty. He basically cost himself money by walking me through step-by-step how to fix the problem. I took his advice and fixed the problems myself (cost me $20 instead of $450). I have never met a contractor who was as honest as Mr. Lee. I would highly recommend him.

Lee's Hardwood Floors did an EXCEPTIONAL job!!! Daniel Lee was on time and professional when he came to the house to take measurements and bid the job. He was very knowledgeable on the type of wood floors we had in the home to be refinished. He also measured and bid new hardwood floors for the kitchen area. The process was smooth and effortless on setting up a date to install the floors. When Lee's crew showed up they were on time and left absolutely no mess at all. They took every piece of trash off of the job site. The Hardwood floors were completed on time and looked amazing. I would Highly recommend Lee's Hardwood Floors to any and all of my friends, family, and neighbors. Home renovations are stressful and costly, and Lee's hardwood floors made this exciting time in our lives wonderful!!!

Here's the note I sent after I received this invoice with Lee Hardwood Floors Inc hoping "I was happy with the job"... Based on the number of issues we had, and the lack of schedule commitment, I want to speak to Mr. Lee in person, at my home, before I agree to pay anything more. Let me outline a number of things that I'm dissatisfied about.... 1) I called Heather at 3:50, Thursday, July 3rd, to check on the status (the schedule called for job completion on July 2nd ). I expected to hear that the job was complete; what I got was, " I haven't heard of any delays".... This was a day after it was supposed to be done per YOUR SCHEDULE... 2) I got no further calls regarding the status, so I expected to arrive home to a "turn key" situation and a completed job. 3) Upon arrival home, I open the garage to find, not only the pantry and powder room doors, but 7 vents sitting there on some newspaper and my stove.... 4) There was never a mention or call that I was coming home to an incomplete job.. 5) When I went inside, the first thing I looked at was the Powder Room.... THERE WAS NO VENT! The work order clearly stated that there were 8 vents, and you only had 7 in MY GARAGE. I come to find out, that when the vent sub-contractor came to install, your guys not only totally covered the opening in the Powder Room, but the gentleman asked about the 8th vent and if it was in the Powder Room, and Lee Flooring said "NO". 6) I went upstairs to the Master Bath, it appeared that there was no polyurethane applied since it was dull and the floor was gritty, but Heather claims it was due to the wood being dry and it was absorbed... you're the experts. 7) The Master Bath had no quarter round molding installed. How could you not contact me and advise that this job was not complete, or at least advise up front that this was going to be the case? Who was going to re-install the doors? Install the vents? Carry the stove back in? How could you dare allow this to happen where it's TOTALLY OPEN ENDED? 8) I had to take Monday off, call you people and, to my shock, Heather sounded like she was totally surprised I was upset. Because of you, I had to re-schedule the completion of the Master Bath, re-schedule the painters (to clean up the mess of the molding and other things!), and have my plumbers only be able to do 1/2 of the job. You also made me make arrangements to have the stove brought back in, WHEN YOU TOOK IT OUT!.... 9) Heather advised that there would be guys at my house the next morning. I asked Heather to "PLEASE CALL ME BEFORE THE END OF THE DAY TO CONFIRM"... Guess what? 4:55pm I had to call YOU to confirm. 10) Next morning, (Tuesday of this nightmare), I have to CALL YOU AT 9:35.... Are they coming or not? "They loaded the wrong wood, had to come back to get the right stuff to deliver to some other unfortunate "customer", they'll be there within the hour... Like 10:30?" It was then that I requested to speak to Mr. Lee who, according to Heather, was "unavailable for the week". How convenient! It was after this excuse that Heather assured me that she was doing her best. Really?? It was also obvious there was no Project Manager ever on site for this job! Another lost day of work. 11) The guys finally show and put 3 coats of polyurethane on the Master Bath floor. This is good. My painters are in the Powder Room with drop cloths all over, working in a small area, dust from drywall flying...... YOUR GUY INSTALLS THE VENT THAT WAS MISSING, TOTALLY WET! WET from a fresh coat of poly!! Ready to be stepped on, or have paint dripped on it, or have dust stuck to it... He took it out to the garage, I carried it upstairs to a safe place. REALLY? 12) I asked that they bring in the doors that were put in the garage for the pantry and powder room.... Filthy and marked from leaning against hanging bicycles. Here's a picture of the quality work you've done.... 13) Think I got a follow-up call Tuesday afternoon? NOPE.... 14) Now, guys gone and I guess we have to deal with pulling up painters tape around the fireplace, staircase spindles, etc.... We should not have had to spend one second on this, but you guys just walked away, leave me to clean up this mess, and send me this final invoice!? 15) I contracted with Lee Hardwoods expecting that you would be the last ones I had to worry about and YOU WERE MY BIGGEST NIGHTMARE! 16) Now, I have another plumbing bill to install the toilet that was supposed to be able to be re-installed Monday, 7/7...... You're getting it! 17) My painter has to come back and clean up the molding in the Master Bath and bill me again, You're getting the bill! I was told by Heather that Lee Hardwoods does not paint the damaged molding, but will fill any area that was damaged.... NOT THIS JOB! Again, I had to pay my painters to do what you "said" you would do. I hope this outlines a bit of my total DIS-SATISFACTION with Lee Hardwoods, and like I said, I want to see Mr. Lee in person at my house. This will make great reviews for Angie's List, CitySearch, YELP, and any other site, maybe even the BBB... How do you have the nerve to hope I'm happy?
Description of Work: Let me start with the first e-mail I had to send to Lee Hardwood Floors Inc when I returned home to a job that was supposed to be completed a week earlier. The job was supposed to be completed on 7/2/14. I called from out of town 7/3/14, to be told by the Customer Service Manager, "as far as I know everything is on schedule"... We're already a day late, but no mention of that. Come home to find 7 of what was supposed to be 8 floor vents sitting on the floor of my garage. The 8th vent wasn't there since they, Lee Hardwood Floors Inc, covered up the Powder Room opening and told the vent installer, "there's not one in here". I also inspect the Master Bath which was also to be done, no polyurethane or molding installed! They admitttedly according to the Operations Mgr, "FORGOT TO DO THE MASTER BATH"! The nightmare goes on since the owner, Daniel Lee refused to meet with me on the issues. The Ops Mgr did come, and in his words, "we did a DECENT job on the floors". I didn't hire for decent.

We had a wonderful experience using Lee's Hardwood floors. After shopping around and getting several quotes we decided to look at Lee's showroom in order to get a better idea of what we wanted. Carrie at Lee's was very helpful in explaining the different types of wood and finishes that were in our price range. We selected a pre-finished 3/4" white oak hardwood in a saddle finish only to find out that it was being discontinued. Carrie spoke with the warehouse and found out that they had enough left in stock (we needed 52 cases and the warehouse had 60) and we received an additional discount for purchasing the remaining inventory. We asked for the rate to install and found that Lee's was very competitive ($3.50/sq ft). We asked to have someone come on to measure and quote us a price for the install. Lee's came up with a square footage number that was less that what the other companies had quoted us (1178 sq ft. versus 1275 sq. ft.). We scheduled the install to occur while we were on vacation and performed the tear out of carpet and vinyl ourselves. We returned from vacation to absolutely beautiful floors and could not be happier. There was some confusion over a half bathroom, but Lee's remedied that very quickly. I had left a note on the bathroom door for our cleaners to not clean in the bathroom as the toilet was removed for the install. As a result, floors were not installed, but Lee's sent the guys back the very next day to complete the job. I was worried that there would be a seam along the doorway, but Lee's are professionals and removed some of the wood in the hallway and relaid everything to ensure there would not be a seam. Overall we had a great experience and would not hesitate recommending them to anyone.

Good installation crew but poor service around it. Also, $9/ft is higher than national average. Unfortunately, I did not have time to shop around, just needed the job to be done asap. Overall, my communication with them was not very pleasant - the associate sounded like I was distracting her from something really important, and also difficult because she returned my email with only half of the questions answered, so I had to ask the same question again; probably more than one question per email was too much to read. The major problem, however, was not with the email, but that they failed to deliver the floor on time, and I was the one who reported it to them after wasting my morning waiting for the delivery. No apology followed; rather, it took them some time to figure out where my floor was AFTER I told them it had not been delivered as scheduled. Furthermore, they blamed their distributor for not shipping it (as if pointing fingers has recently become professional). Ok, it happens, but who is to blame for not double-checking your shipments and for not letting me know at least a few hours in advance? The phone company? They also do not confirm their visits; in contrast, Home Depot and Time Warner (whom I also hired around the same time for other jobs) confirmed their visits 2-4 times including a few days and a few minutes in advance. Again, installation crew was professional. They arrived on time, completed the job faster than expected, and even fixed a mistake I made while putting the order. But after the job was done the service came again. They left the old carpet on my driveway; needless to say my order included removal and disposal. I had to ask twice for it to be removed. They also DO NOT provide written warranty for the labor, although they state it is supposed to be one year. Instead I got smth like "we stand behind every installation we do". I'm sorry, but this is b/s; any of your "standing behind" should be in writing. If I sell the home any time soon, what am I going to provide to the buyers, a screenshot? So, it's ok since the job was done as ordered after all, but that kind of service was the worst I saw among 10+ contractors involved in my home renovation.
