Not very well. They charged extra for inspecting an old house yet failed to pick up major issues that later took a few minutes for servicemen to discover. In fact, the first time it was used the water from the master bathroom came flooding through the floor into the living room below. Running the water for a few minutes, as should have been done, would have exposed the problem. So would operating some of the appliances properly have demonstrated how poor their condition was. Instead we received a report that generally indicated minor problems, and we negotiated accordingly, only to discover later that the problems were far, far worse. We would have insisted on a much bigger repair allowance had we not been led to assume the problems were superficial rather than major. When we tried to hold the company to account the proprietor would admit nothing, claimed that they had identified the problems (in superficial "possibility" remarks with CYA comments), suggested that we were naive in buying an old house (despite the fact that we have bought and sold and in many cases built more than a dozen homes, had moved from an even older house and had enjoyed happy ownership in another that was twenty years older)! I asked the proprietor if he had learned anything from our review and he said, flatly, "no." What kind of business refuses to learn anything? Despite the fact that they have a relationship with certain realtors and are said to be "the best", I would not recommend Jernigan for complex old houses .

Amazing from start to finish, as always. We have used them 3 times now, each time we have been impressed. Very thorough, friendly, and they take the time to explain the findings as they go. Clawson and Forrest are great! They will answer any questions you have and explain it to you in words you'd understand. They turned the report around quick for us since we had such a short Due Diligence period. Dawn was also very helpful with scheduling and was very responsive to emails.

Jand A was absolutely fantastic. Our inspector led us through all of the different components of the review and put together and incredibly detailed report. He was extremely thorough- and if it was not for him we would never have realized that there was a major problem with the HVAC which ended up having to be compeltely replaced- and which thankfully we were able to get covered by the home seller. He also was able to find several other issues which needed remediation and had been completely overlooked by the home inspector that had been hired by the seller a few years back. Jand A was great to work withand literally ended up saving us a lot of grief and money.

They were efficient, on time, and polite. Their reporting procedure was very well done. They were recommended to me by a friend and they were great.

Beware of who you get to do the inspection. We had 2 separate inspections done a few months apart. The first was for a pre-inspection in order to sell the house and to know what the issues could be. It was done by Clawson Jernigan who was very professional and thorough. He spent 5 hours at our 3800 sf. house and inspected every inch of it. He prepared the report right away and pointed out things that we needed to get fixed. We took his advice and fixed all major items on his list. A few months later we had a prospective buyer who did their own inspection and also used Jernigan and Associates but got a different inspector, Tom Justice. The report came back very alarmist in nature. Mr. Justice pointed out things that had been prior issues that had been addressed and blew them out of proportion using "inspector lingo." His report painted a completely different picture and almost became a deal breaker in the sale process. It doesn't help the buyer or seller to get these kinds of opposing reports from the same company.

I chose this company based on my realtor's recommendation and Angie's List reviews. Tom is the inspector who worked with us. He was professional, efficient, very thorough, punctual, and I appreciated that I never felt like I was being talked to in a patronizing way even though I'm a woman in her 30s without much knowledge of the types of issues discussed at an inspection. Tom took the time to answer my questions and help me understand all issues relating to the items inspected, and handed out lots of great advice along the way which I scribbled down as quickly as I could write. In all we probably spent about about 3.5 hours inspecting a 3,187 sq ft house. The next morning we received via email a 20+ page report with pictures and text detailing each item. After the sellers completed repairs, Tom came back out to reinspect. That was a much quicker process since only certain items were being looked at- maybe an hour. The next day we had a one page follow up report detailing which items had been satisfactorily repaired and which not. Overall, I found the company and Tom to be 100% professional from start to finish and well worth the money. We would use them again and recommend them with no reservations.

No donts. Can't recommend Clawson highly enough.

It was a great experience. We are in the process of setting up further inspections (furnace and roof) per Clausen's recommendations. His report included specific details and many, many pictures of "concern" areas as well as areas that we should continue to monitor once we are the homeowners. The inspection was done on a Friday afternoon and the 24 page report was emailed to me this morning.

He was good. He came promptly. He was courteous and thorough. He submitted a thorough report by email to us. The price shown is for our home inspection.

He was prompt and very thorough. Plus, he was patient with us asking silly questions as we went around the house. And since we have moved in, we have called Clawson with a few questions that have come up, and he has been so helpful (he even stopped back at our house to ck on something for no charge!!). I strongly recommend this inspector, though I think he is a bit more $$ than others.

The inspection was fantastic. My father said it was one of the best inspection reports he has seen (he practiced real estate law in NY). I was nervous because I was unable to be at the inspection, and thus was going to be unable to ask questions. I contacted their office to ask some questions. I talked to the office staff, and they were great. Then I got an unexpected phone call from Clawson Jernigan, the inspector, and he helped reassure me. He said to call if I had any questions on the inspection. I fully intended to, but after reading his inspection report and looking at all the photos, I had no questions. As for thoroughness, the inspector gave a much more accurate assessment of the damage, and more detailed inspection of the roof than one roofing contractor we had look at it. All in all, a great experience, and we are hiring them to reinspect the house now that repairs have been made.

Tom was great. He arrived right on time and went immediately to work. He invited us to follow along throughout the process and was very happy to answer our questions and give his experience when we had concerns. The final report was received in the mail two days after the inspection. Tom was thorough, professional, and knowledgeable. He gave us a lot of direction and peace of mind.

They were on time, and had very informative two way communication between the inspector and client. It was a quick, complete, and professional report.
