So he was called and he began asking questions. *Have we flushed it, aside from the flush when the rag went down? No. *How large was the rag and what was it made of? A small, old, worn out, terrycloth cotton dish towel. Then, he gave it some thought and concluded: “Well, in all likelihood, the rag will take some time to go through the sewer line and it may do nothing more than settle to the bottom of the holding tank. So for right now, if nothing else has happened, it probably won’t cause a problem, immediately. We’ll come out on Wednesday, and take the tank cover off (out in our front yard), and see what’s going on. By that time, it will have had time to work its way through the line, if it’s going to go through. Otherwise, it may just settle down in the bottom of the line and do nothing, if it doesn’t cause a back up before Wednesday. If anything begins to slow and you see a problem we can come out before that.” This was on Monday. We waited for a back up to occur. Nothing happened. Mr. Sealey’s truck pulled into our driveway on Wednesday morning, as promised. Since we had several different other plumbing issues we had been putting off getting repaired, now was the time to get it all fixed at once. The faucet in our kitchen sink was wearing out, could he replace that with a Delta faucet (easiest to repair with washers), could he check some slow drains, a commode, and finally the sewer pump for the rag! Also, since he’s a licensed electrician, could he check on the main wire going from the pole to the house where it connects. We had been told by another repair-person, the insulation was in bad shape, possibly as a result of storm damage, and needed to be repaired/replaced, major fire hazard! We didn’t ask what the costs would be, we just knew the work had to be done (this was an emergency for us) and he was the one we trusted to do the work. Besides, we knew he would send us the bill. His men were here for a couple of hours, taking care of everything. They found the rag, at the bottom of the tank, apparently just in time. It had located itself in a position, that if much more time had passed, the rag would have become lodged and wrapped around the grinder blade impeller and stopped everything, burning up the motor. We would have had to replace the whole motor mechanism, the pump and lost our sewer system entirely! So thanks to Mr. Sealey’s knowledge and experience of the situation and the skills of his men knowing exactly what to do and arriving in a timely manner, they saved us a HUGE sewer expense plus we got some minor issues resolved all with one call, without an emergency expense on off duty hours. My husband also learned to dump wastewater down the bathtub, rather than the commode! An expensive way to learn a lesson.
Description of Work: On Aug. 13, my husband was washing down some walls in preparation of my priming and painting the ceiling and walls in a room. Absentmindedly, he drained the water down the commode and whoosh went the wash rag, along with the waste water, down the commode. He quickly came in and told me sheepishly what had happened and went to call our plumber. We live in an older home (1960), and the land slopes at an odd position relative to the house. This wasn’t a problem at the time the septic tanks were installed when the house was built, but it later became a major problem relative to connecting to the city sewer line, as we discovered. So we have a sewer grinder pump located in our front yard, which fills up and then grinds out the waste, before it goes to the city sewer connection. As a result, we have to be VERY careful about what goes down our sewer. Otherwise, the pump blades will get hung up and the motor will lock up and burn up, which means replacing the pump and the motor, major expensive! Well, Mr. Sealey is the person who originally recognized this problem, made the calculations on the land slope measurements, did all the digging/trenching, did all the wiring, knew what grinder pump to select based on the size of our home and water usage, and installed this entire sewer grinding system when we finally had to get hooked into city sewer, a number of years ago. He was the only plumber of the five we called in for estimates, who would touch the job. Probably the only one who had the experience to know what he was doing! Anyway, he has become our go-to-plumber and licensed electrician, whenever we have a problem.

They are the ones that we automatically go to for any plumbing work. We have been using this company for close to 10 years. They installed our sewer lift pumps. Once they did the plumbing on the city sewer line they were the only ones when we called for an estimate that came out, calculated the logistics of everything that had to be done and gave us a written bid before they began the work. so we had it in writing. It was a difficult job and ever since then we have been using them as our plumber of choice because they are on the job. If you call they will be there even if they can't do the repair immediately. They will come out even if it is 4:00 p.m. If it is an emergency situation they're on the ball. If they can't fix it that day they will be out there the next morning to take care of it. They always tell us the extent of the problem. Anytime we have any issue with plumbing we call this company.
Description of Work: I used J W Sealey to replace a switch in our sewer lift pump.

They always do an excellent job! We haven't had a moments problem since they did this work. We don't use anybody a second time if they don't satisfy us the first time! They had the highest quote for our replumbing job, but they responded in the most timely manner. We have nothing but praise for good people! I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of a good plumber or electrical contractor.
Description of Work: About 3-4 years ago we had to have our entire home replumbed. We called and got several estimates. They were the only company who came out and actually measured, came out with all the necessary tools to measure and recognized all the parameters. They gave us a written estimate. The most recent time we've called them was this past April. On April 4th, they repaired a leak in our water line in our bathroom closet. The cost of that was $183.20. We called them out again on April 23rd. We had a dishwasher that wasn't properly installed and had worked itself loose. They reinstalled it and put a piece of plywood backing up underneath the cabinet to make sure it was locked in place. That cost $128.40.

They were doing plumbing work and during the process of measuring for that work came across this problem. Of everyone that gave us an estimate, only 2 informed of us of this issue. He was very detailed in what would need to be done and how it would need to be done. No one else did that. It's been about 4 years since this work was done and we haven't had a minutes trouble with it!
Description of Work: They installed what is called a grinder pump. They had to dig out a hole in our front yard and pour concrete. They had to literally create a well for this pump. The pump is to grind anything not liquified. The grinding motion is like a vaccuum. The reason for this grinder pump is for the difference in elevation from our house to the street. In order to make sure it doesn't have a backflow the pump grinds everything up and pushes it to the street. That's what makes up the difference in elevation. In order for this to run, they had to install seperate electrical wiring and a switch on the inside of our house. We have a switch in our pantry and if the light is green we know it's working, but if it goes to red, we know there is a problem and we need to call them. Not only will the light turn red, but there is an audible sound as well, sort of like a siren.
