Pinestraw was good quality, cheaper then others that I checked, very efficient transaction. $4.35 bale including tax

I spoke with Mr Hocutt's wife initially regarding a pine straw order. She gave me a quote on a price and I said that it appeared to be "a bit steep" compared to other outlets. She seemed a bit agitated by that comment and immediately went on the defensive, claiming that their pine straw was quality and had "never been in a trailer". Pine straw, unless you harvest it yourself, is only ever transported in an enclosed trailer. She was stretching the truth at best. Her husband was not available so I called Mr. Hocutt via his cell phone number. I told him that I was looking for 35-40 bales and his response was that he could not deliver less than 40. I understand his premise but was curious why he had such a policy if he indeed was also charging a $30 delivery fee. "Why would it matter if I just bought one bale if you are charging me a delivery fee?". Granted that this question is pure hyperbole, but it was asked just to posit the idea that he may be losing my business if his response to this question was unsatisfactory. His response was equally as defensive as Mrs. Hocutts and I was then party to a long drawn out, somewhat confrontational, explanation of profits and losses in the pinestraw delivery business. I knew that continuing this particular conversation was pointless so I told him "thanks" and I "would find someone willing to deliver 35 bales instead of 40". He was more than happy to say "alright then" and hang up. He lost my business over an issue of 5 bales.
