Description of Work: Their store is huge and is sure to have something for everyone. We purchased in late December, but salesperson didn't mention that they would have year-end sales on everything. If we'd waited just a week or so longer, we could've saved hundreds.

Cathy salesperson was excellent. The only reason i will not go back is that all of the furniture is very overpriced.

We've had furniture delivered about 5 times in the past 7 years from the Smithfield Heavner's location. Everything we've purchased has been beautiful and durable. I plan on buying a queen sofa bed an matching love set, rugs and accessories in a few weeks when our current attic remodel is completed. Delivery has always been on time and placed in my requested location. Some have been to upper levels and they were done without complaint or damage to walls or doorframes. I love this furniture store and was shocked to read the other terrible reviews. Again, my experience is with the Smithfield location.
Description of Work: I moved to Clayton NC in 2005 and have shopped at Heavners in Smithfield many, many times over the years. I bought a large dresser and queen headboard for our master bedroom when we first bought our house and they are still in excellent condition. I purchased a dresser (as is piece) for our guest bedroom and while the bottom drawer is "wonky" it was like that when I bought it, but it is in otherwise excellent condition. I also purchased a dresser for my son's room. (Guess I like dressers???) and it's in perfect condition and is really heavy duty. We are remodeling our upstairs and you can bet that we will be buying our sofa and chairs from here. I've never been to the Raleigh store, but the Smithfield location is top notch. I was just there in December and while I didn't buy it just yet, I will be getting a queen size sleep sofa for $1200 when our remodel is completed. I love their selection. It's vast and unique and really great quality.

The bed and mattress are fine. I bought some other stuff from them and they wouldn't deliver, which made me angry. I had to go fetch it myself in a rental truck.

When I first visited the store, I was impressed by the selection of unique furniture items. I noticed a vanity that was the right size for my space and it looked to be a very nice quality. Unfortunately, soon after the transaction was complete and we were loading the vanity onto our truck, we discovered that some of the painted surface from under the glass top was bubbling up. I did not notice this blemish at first because it was hidden by the price tag. I brought the blemish to the sales person's attention and he agreed to give me a refund of $20. I figured that the blemish was in a location that could be covered with a soap dish or something similar, so I agreed to the small partial refund. I brought the vanity home and it sat in my bedroom for about 2 months while new flooring and other renovations were being made to my master bathroom. The whole time it was there, I had a soap dish holder covering the spot everything seemed fine. Unfortunately, once I was finally able to move the vanity into the newly renovated bathroom, I discovered that the blemish had grown in size from about the size of a dime to about the size of a silver dollar. I began to worry that the vanity was no longer usable. The next day, I walked into the bathroom and discovered that the same type of blemish (the glass top vanity had a painted surface under the glass) appeared in the opposite corner in the front of the unit. At that point I knew that the vanity was a total waste and would need to be removed. The very next day, I walked into the bathroom and discovered that in addition to the paint pulling away from the bottom side, now the glass was completely cracked! I called Heavner Furniture Mart and discussed the matter with Chris the manager. He said that he would call the manufacturer to find out what they would do. I waited a couple of weeks for a return call and then decided to call Chris back. Two more calls were needed because Chris never returned my calls and finally once I was able to get through to him, he basically accused me of dropping the vanity and said the damage was my own fault. After going over what had happened and he even having proof that the damage began before I even purchased the vanity, he finally told me to bring in the vanity and he would examine the damage and decide if a "store credit" would be made. I did not bother to return to the store to pursue the store credit. The customer service that I had already experienced was lousy and now, in order to make the situation right, I would need to dismantle the vanity and carry it to the store. No thanks. I even offered to have them give me a partial refund of just $200 which would cover the cost to have a granite top installed from Lowes. They claimed that their markup was not enough to cover that loss. So I guess I will cover the entire loss myself. Take my advice and don't let this happen to you.
