Gil Simmers Tractor Service

He seems to be organized and he knows his stuff. He can work with you because I had another tractor come in to do grading for me and I told him what to do and the guy just did a rotten job. I had three tractors, Gil was number three and he did a good job. He was willing to work with me unlike the other guy. He is fast and he is efficient, which are his top qualities and he knows his work really well. He was going to be late but he did call so that was fine.

This is my third time contracting with Gil for service. As in the prior two occasions, Gil showed up when he said he would, got right to work, and did an excellent job. Now it may sound a bit weird to say that someone performed a 'quality' job with a bush hog, but it is clear by looking at the work that Gil does that he intends to provide the best service possible at a reasonable price. For example - there were numerous spots on my property where Gil had to go around trees and he could have gone a bit wider, or left a little more grass along side, and it really wouldn't have mattered. But the facts are that he was meticulous in moving the mower as close to the obstacles as possible which overall makes my final clean up and string trimming job incredibly quicker and easier. As I told my wife earlier today, "Gil runs that mower the way I would do it myself!" Coming from me (and I suspect the same from many Angie's List subscribers), that is a real compliment! To top it off, Gil is just a pleasant guy talk to. It's really not surprising to me that he is so detailed in his work - you get that impression from the first moment you meet him. Long story short - another great job, and I will definitely have him return again in a few months for another trim.

I realized that I never reviewed this work that Gil did for me last fall. Since I have been so pleased with his other services, I wanted to say a few words about this as well. This was my second time hiring Gil for work on my property. When he was out earlier in the year to bush hog this property, he mentioned that if he spent a little time grading and smoothing it, that it would probably be much faster and easier to maintain going forward. So, I had him come by and do that. He did a great job - using the box blade and front end loader both to smooth out the terrain and remove a few small stumps that existed on the property. After he was done, I seeded the area with low end fescue to prevent erosion, and the grass came in after a few weeks and things are looking good! I'll definitely be doing more business with Gil going forward.

I found Gil on a local service posting site (not AL) since I could not find anyone on AL for this type of work. He uses his tractor for a variety of common tasks including bush hogging, grading (box blade), post hole digging, front end loader work, etc. Gil promptly responded to my emailed inquiry and quoted me a price based on a screenshot of the area off Wake County GIS maps that I had marked up. He arrived promptly on time, and was extremely personable and easy to talk to. He did a VERY thorough job with the work. I know that may sound weird to say that someone 'thoroughly cut the grass' but I have had this same area bush hogged several years in a row by other people, and Gil by far did the best job yet. Add in the fact that he is a pleasant guy all around, and shows up when he says he will, and you can't go wrong using him for a job! I will use Gil again. As a matter of fact, I already have! I will post another review for that service as well.
