Chris was scheduled to repair the floors for a Tuesday then cancelled and rescheduled twice and ended up doing the repair the day before we were trying to close on the house. The repair looked great, but it wasn’t worth the unprofessionalism. He didn’t want us to pay with a check because he wanted it off the books even though we sent a check. He said he never received it so we tried to PayPal his business under the name Noel C. Leon and associates which I couldn’t find when searching for it in PayPal. Then he threatened to sue us in court for not paying after we asked him to send us an invoice so I could pay the amount due which is funny since this isn’t on his books and the IRS would be very interested in that. We finally got an invoice and I immediately sent the payment. He was extremely rude and texted my husband thanks for Late payment. I would NEVER go here again for floor work.

The actual installation went beautifully. Afterwards the problems began. There were two main problems. !) I had 3 boxes of planking left over, which had cost me a lot of money. Chris Leon, the owner of Flooring Express, is the person who told me how much to order and i ordered it through him. Because he also did another room for me with this same flooring in December, it had been ordered early. When the sunroom was finished, he told me that he couldn't understand why there was so much left over, but there was nothing he could do about it. I felt that he had a responsibility - this represented more than $250 for extra flooring material that I had paid him in December and I thought he should have offered to either refund the money, or he should have offered to help me sell it to someone else. He told me that he re-checked his calculation for how much to order, and his calculations were correct, so it was not his fault. Well, whose fault was it? I didn't order the planking and I didn't change the size of the room. 2) Soon after installation the floor buckled badly. After researching the causes, it became clear that this sunroom was not the appropriate place to install this flooring. Now we get down to a "he said, she said" situation. Chris claims that he did nothing wrong. He says that he asked me if the room would be a controlled environment and that I said Yes. At the time, December 2013, the room was not built yet. I do not remember his question or my answer, but I know that at the time the plan was for a 3-season room with a small plug-in heater. The room is not and was never supposed to be connected to the house HVAC system. I cannot believe I would have answered with anything other than the sentences above. The problem with the flooring is that it is supposed to be in a room kept between 65 and 85 degrees and it is not supposed to be exposed to direct sunlight. I was unaware of those requirements at the time we chose this flooring, and I assumed the Chris was aware of whatever requirements existed. Apparently he believes that my response to his question was enough for him to feel that this flooring was appropriate for the room that would be built. In my most gracious of explanations, I think we had a miscommunication. I certainly would not have said that the room was planned to meet either of the criteria, but I doubt we had a conversation that got that detailed. When the room was built I called Chris and he sent a team to install the flooring. He did not come to see the room himself prior to the team installing the flooring. After the room buckled I called Chris. He came out and saw the problem. He did not seem to know what the real problem was. I did my own research and saw that the flooring was inappropriate for the environment. I emailed Chris to ask for a refund of my costs. Then I called Chris. I never heard back from him. Finally I replaced the flooring at my own expense and continued to try to reach him for some recompense. After many phone calls I reached Chris and we discussed what had happened. He felt that he had no responsibility for the situation but he would think about refunding my costs for my new floor in the room ($500). He was supposed to call me back but did not. I called him and left messages many times but he never called me back. I finally went to his office to see him. He said that he felt he had no responsibility for the situation since he had asked the right question at the beginning and so it was all my fault and he would offer me no recompense. I do not remember his asking about whether the room was in a conditioned environment. i do not remember my answer. I cannot imagine that I would have just answered "yes", given the situation at the time - the fact that the room would only have a plug-in heater in the original plans. However, I expect a professional to feel some responsibility for the situation, if only that he had not actually come himself to see the room prior to sending his team out to install the flooring. I could not believe it when he said that he did nothing wrong so he has no responsibility to help me. Every person who looked at my buckled floor said to me "what is the flooring contractor going to do to help you?". My answer: Nothing. Chris Leon/Flooring Express does not stand behind his work. I certainly do not recommend that others deal with him.

Description of Work: We used Flooring Express for replacing the old carpet with ceramic tile in our dinning room in our house. I don't remember what it cost somewhere around a thousand, I think.
