They stated they fertilized the lawn, billed me and nobody showed up when I was invoiced. The company admitted there mistake but continued to have poor lawn and weed control service. I discontinued service, after I paid all prior invoices in full (in addition on being on auto-draft), they still sent more invoices but did not service my lawn. . North Carolina Chapter 14: Criminal Laws makes it illegal to use fraud, a falsehood, or deceptive statement (representation) to obtain a thing of value. N.C.G.S. 14-100 makes offenses of $100,000 or more a Class C Felony in North Carolina. I tried Fairway Green for aerating and seeding. Thomas showed up at the scheduled time and he did an excellent job of discussing what my lawn needed and giving me some pointers. We discussed their services and scheduled when they would aerate and seed my lawn. At this stage, I’d give them 5 stars BUT…when the scheduled time came even though someone called me the day before and confirmed. No one showed up. They aerated/seeded my neighbor’s lawn who had scheduled for the same day (we had a rebate for getting others in our neighborhood to schedule w/them). The day before I had raked my yard and made sure everything was ready and even called Durham 811 for them to mark some lines. I waited another day, still no show and no call. Finally, 3 days later I called them and asked what happened. At first they gave me the runaround and then said I was scheduled for Oct. 31. After all this and it being so late in the season, I told them to forget it. Clearly, they dropped the ball and they don’t need the business. I’d definitely stay away from them and I won’t be going back

It appears there was a communication breakdown since we came out twice and payment for service was not provided each time. We require payment the same day for special services like seeding. Hope we can provide assistance in the future.

I had them on a lawn treatment contract for three years. The first two years I was with them they managed to keep the broadleaf weeds away. Last year, they had a different person doing the treatments. Weeds started showing up along the perimeter. The weeds were very noticeable during their last 3 visits and only got worse. They must have just skipped those areas. They were probably in a hurry as they always seem to rush through it. They seem to take two passes to cover a lawn that should probably take four. I called the company and told them about weeds along the perimeter and they said they'd do a free treatment within a week. Later that day, the person who did the failed treatments called and said he would not be showing up to get rid of the weeds as that could hurt the lawn but to call if the weeds along the perimeter don't go away. All it would have taken would have been a spray along the perimeter where the weeds are. At about $57 per treatment taking a 'rushed through' 5.7 - 10 minutes, that's about $6 - $10 per minute. In terms of scheduling, they always did this on their own schedule and never called ahead to let me know they were coming. That would be okay, but due to them always rushing through and failing to keep the weeds away, I canceled the service for the 2019 season.

Unfortunately, broadleaf weeds can be difficult when [Member Information Removed] scheduled application is missed on the core program. Post emergent broadleaf weed control can take up to 14 days to start showing signs of control. We asked you to be patient and we would return in 14 days (at no charge) since roughly five days had passed since the application was completed. Too much post-emergent broadleaf weed control applied in [Member Information Removed] short period of time can damage turf. You refused and cancelled service. Our equipment is calibrated to do 1000 square feet [Member Information Removed] minute. Our records indicate the technicians was at your property in within the appropriate amount of time.

Fairway Green destroyed my lawn. I hired them to make my lawn thicker with a Fall seeding. They aerated the front (good job.) But, without permission, they killed EVERY blade of grass in my backyard. Overnight, my yard went from a green oasis, which my neighbors and regular gardener can confirm, to a red clay desert. At first, Fairway Green promised to make it right. But, after a couple of seedings (the yard is on a hill and there has been lots of rain) they have determined that they can't do anything else to fix it because they don't sod. Meanwhile, my backyard has half as much grass as it did last Fall. And, I am probably going to have to sod it myself. This company is terrible and I wish I could give them a negative star count.

It is interesting you mention that we destroyed your lawn when the only service we provided was seeding. Unfortunately, we probably wouldn't have been seeding the lawn if it was an oasis of green as you mention. We seeded and reseeded your lawn four times. As a good faith measure, we did not charge you anything for the original seeding or the multiple follow-up seeding. We had one of our field managers look at the lawn the week of March 11, 2019 and it appears you have grass everywhere and do not require any additional seeding or sod. Turf establishment can be challenging and frustrating when dealing with climatic conditions including two hurricanes. This is even more challenging when dealing with disease and less than perfect site locations.

It started out very well, with the field sales and application technician both being knowledgeable and professional. The plan to which we agreed included full-season lawn weed control and fertilization, treatments which indeed improved the condition of my new lawn, which had been completely renovated by a professional landscaper the previous fall at a cost of approximately eight thousand dollars. I am a retired professional biologist of an age that disallows me from performing extended physical activities, but with a speciality in plant disease control, so as the early season growth continued, the weather forecast set up to be a warm, wet spring. I notified Fairway Green that I wanted to add their season-long fungus control applications to my existing program, noting that their website described their professional staff as watching the weather conditions so that the applications could made in a timely manner, prior to the beginning of a fungus infestation. I was advised that they would take care of it. That was in early May, 2018. Several days, then weeks passed with no application, though the fungus season was clearly imminent. I called their office asking for an immediate application, and was told that I would be moved to the top of the schedule. More time passed without further contact from them, and I called again. Still no application, and the forecast weather did its work and the fungus exploded throughout my new lawn. On May 21, 2018, after another call to them, their technician did apply the fungicide, but by then the lawn was fully infected, and later died. Additional communication to them about the situation brought a visit from one of their professionals, who took numerous pictures of the damage, stating that it was clearly damage from Brown Patch fungus that could have been prevented had the application been done earlier. At that point, there was no possibility of recovery or replanting of the grass until the coming fall. I was left with dead grass for the entire summer. The representative who visited my property asked what they could do to make things better; I replied that I wanted a refund of the $112 that I paid for the application, and an agreement that later during the early fall, they would aerate and replant my entire lawn with the same quality of grass seed that the original landscaper had used. He so advised his management of my request, which was summarily refused. They did recommend a repeat of the treatment, which was applied on June 6, long after the lawn was clearly dying. They did not charge me for the repeat treatment, stating that it was for professional courtesy, and offerred the opinion that they were not surprised that I had a bad fungus infestation, since the second application came long after it should have been (applications are normally done about every three weeks to be sure that the fungus has no chance to become established). I continuously explained to the manager that the second application would make no difference, as the lawn was lost in mid-May, before the first application, and neither application could help it recover. It was like talking to a brick wall; I was left to my own resources with no further help from the company. In the fall of 2018, I did my own aeration, and planted my own lawn. I will not know how much grass I will have during the summer of 2019 until the weather warms enough to germinate the seed. I do know that the soil has copious quantities of plant fungus just waiting for enough heat and moisture to attack whatever grass does survive. I also know that I will be dragging hoses around a sizeable yard as I treat and retreat it with the fungicide of my choice at the times of my choice, all of which were what I was paying Fairway Green so that I didn't have to do it at all. Do not...I repeat, do not trust this company to perform as promised. I had a beautiful lawn, and thanks to them, now I don't. Thanks for your attention: Dr. Jon H. Arvik, Ph.D Plant Pathology, retired.

We completed your fungicide application on 5-21-1. Brown Patch Fungus started around the second week in May 2018. We started our fungicide program that week. We utilize a contact and systemic fungicide which will arrest activity immediately after application. High quality fungicides like the ones we use, will last about 21 to 28 days. If conditions for disease are still favorable, it will activate on the plant as soon as the fungicide has expired. Fungicides will not turn brown lesion damaged leaf tissue green after fungicide, it will have to grow out and be cut off with mowing. You contacted us 6-5-18 stating that you felt the fungicide was not working. We reapplied the fungicide at no charge on 6-7-18. We contacted you to apply your second scheduled fungicide but you refused that application. On 7-20-18 you contacted us, 43 days after your last fungicide demanding that we aerate and seed your lawn at no charge because you lost large portions of your lawn to Brown Patch Fungus. We did decide to not aerate and seed your lawn because you declined the recommended fungicide application stating you did not need it.

We used Fairway Green for several years, and our lawn has steadily deteriorated during that time - we now have huge bare patches in several different places. I called them out for a diagnosis, but the guy seemed clueless and said there wasn't anything they could do. This raises the question of why the heck I am paying them hundreds of dollars each year for my lawn to slowly die off, so when my annual renewal notice came several weeks ago, I tossed it in the trash. FG came out anyway and serviced my lawn. I notified them to stop, and now they are dunning me for the the work! They claim I didn't cancel until after the work was done, thus I owe them the $40, even though I never renewed our contract. We're moving on to another lawn company.

We are truly sorry to learn about your unpleasant experience with our service. We have used your situation as valuable training for the office. According to our records, we recommend natural areas in some spots due to shade and very rough soil. Unfortunately, lack of direct sunlight from trees and structures is not conducive for growing quality turf. We did credit your account for that last application once management was aware of your situation. Fairway Green does not operate with contracts or terms. We keep coming out from year to year unless the service is cancelled. Once again we truly apologize for your dissatisfaction and frustration.

Description of Work: Moved to a new home in September 2016. Existing yard was mostly weeds and a little bit of scruffy looking grass. Having used Fairway Green for lawn care at my previous home for 20+ years, I called and scheduled a consultation. They treated the weeds immediately, and in October came back to aerate and seed. I have just recently had the yard aerated and re-seeded for 2017, and it''s looking great! A complete turn-around from what I had when I moved in! I am very pleased!

Things were going reasonable well with the lawn care until this past May when my tenant notified me about some issues with the lawn. Specifically, it looked like the grass was dying in certain areas based on the bare sports that were developing around the yard, so I contacted Fairway Green for assistance. One of their technicians advised that some type of fungus was afflicting the yard and would need to be treated. He recommended a DIY approach using an off-the-shelf fungicide and offered to assist my tenant with the instructions. Although my tenant was willing to go along with this approach, it just became too complicated to coordinate this effort between him and the technician from out of state. So then I asked Fairway Green to recommend a proactive treatment plan for lawn as an alternative to the DIY approach their technician had suggested earlier. In response, a gentleman who seems to be their senior technician stopped by my property to assess the damage and come up with a recommendation. Per my tenant, the technician told him that the fungus that was afflicting the grass would need to be treated to prevent it from killing the whole yard. Accordingly, I scheduled a fungicide treatment for mid June. When I spoke to the same technician the day before my appointment, he confirmed they treat the yard for fungus as requested but that much of the damage was being caused by heat stress and therefore there was not much that could be done to restore the health of my lawn other than to aerate and reseed it a few months later. This seemed to contradict what he reportedly told my tenant only a few weeks before, but I figured I should defer to his judgement as a lawn care expert. Based on his input, I did not request any subsequent fungus treatments nor did they recommend that I do so. Since then, my lawn has continued to wither away. I have attached the photos my tenant took at the end of July to demonstrate its poor condition. Yet Fairway Green kept applying treatments to the lawn as per my service plan even through they were clearly of no use at that point. So in September, I contacted them to question the utility of these recurring treatments and to complain about the fact that, after about a year of their services, my lawn had never been in worse shape. I was put in contact with yet another technician, who told me in response that I should have arranged for a follow-up fungus treatment after the one they applied in June, insinuating that I was to blame for the poor outcome with my lawn. But they NEVER advised me to do so, and in fact this contradicted what their senior technician told me at that time of the first fungus treatment (i.e., not much could be done due to the heat stress). At that point, I was frustrated with all their contradictory inputs about what the issue was with my yard and what I should do about it. I was also quite dismayed about having paid good money to Fairway Green for their annual service plan only to see the health of my lawn deteriorate so badly on their watch. When I requested that they cancel my service plan and give me a full refund, this technician referred me to the company's operations manager. I was hoping that at least they could arrange for a quick and painless resolution of this matter, but that was not to be the case, unfortunately. A few days after speaking to the technician, I left a voice message for the operations manager in response to the one he had left me, but he didn't return my message. A tried a few more times to reach him but to no avail. Only when I very clearly expressed my frustrations to the front office about his lack of responsiveness did he finally return my call, which was over 2 weeks after I left him my original voice message. I conveyed my complaints and frustrations to him about the poor quality of service I had received from Fairway Green along with my request for a refund and cancellation of my service plan. I explicitly asked him to issue a full refund, and he agreed to do so unequivocally. When he spoke to him a few days later at his request to discuss his offer of a free aeration and seeding on the condition that I renew my annual service plan, I reiterated my request for a full refund and cancellation of service. (Another year of headaches and frustration due to their poor service? No, thank you.) Again, he agreed to fulfill my request without any hesitation ambiguity whatsoever. However, a few weeks later, I got a check in the mail from them for only a quarter of the amount I had originally paid for my service plan. When I called him back to find out what was going on, he stated that they were refunding me for the remaining portion of my service plan and that they would absolutely not refund what I had paid for the work they had performed already. This was despite the fact that he agreed to issue a full refund twice during our earlier phone conversations without any qualifications similar to what he was now providing. He claimed that the notion I would be refunded for the entirety of what I had paid for the service plan was simply an assumption on my part. (I don't know what else "full refund" could possibly have meant in the context of our prior conversations.) Of course, I disputed his assertions along the lines of what I described here but to no avail. So basically, I ended up losing about $200 on services from Fairway Green that were of absolutely no use in maintaining the health of my lawn. To top it all off, I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with an operations manager who did a very poor job of handling my case. (The low scores I gave Fairway Green for professionalism and responsiveness reflect this experience.) This is why I've had enough of Fairway Green after dealing with them for over a year. If you need professional lawn care services, I would strongly recommend that you save yourself the time, money and headaches and look for another service provider. You will be doing yourself a huge favor.
Description of Work: I originally hired Fairway Green in September 2016 to aerate and seed the lawn at my rental property and apply any treatments necessary to maintain its health. This past January, I signed up for their annual service plan to ensure that the lawn would be treated as and when necessary. As an out-of-state property manager, I was hoping they would be a trustworthy service provider that would do quality work even if I could not be there no constantly monitor their work.

We are sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience with us. We strive to offer the best possible turf and ornamental care service possible. However, turf management in the Transitional Zone (where we reside) is never easy and has many challenges. Disease, like what injured your lawn, is very common in Fescue. The only means of control would be fungicide applications which were declined. The dry conditions we experienced this summer only exacerbated turf injury. Unfortunately, a full refund for services rendered is not an option due to conditions out of our control. However, we did offer other options which entailed a free seeding and a one application credit for your situation as a good faith gesture. Please feel free to contact us to discuss in more detail

When we moved in (Oct 16) the front yard looked fine. They began their service in the spring of 207. In May, I called to say that there were lots of weeds in the front yard. Someone came out and sprayed them. No change. I called again in mid June and someone came and walked the yard with me and he said they would treat them. At that time I told him to cancel the back yard treatment, since we are putting in a pool. They came again on June 22 and charged the same price, so they either treated the back yard or charged me for work they didn't do. It is now the end of July and the front yard never looked worse. I found them to be uninterested in my situation. I called the 3rd time to cancel the service and she asked why. When I told her the lawn never looked worse, her response was "ok".

They arrived as scheduled to apply weed control. My lawn quickly showed results. I asked for an in person interview to learn more about program expectations and how I could improve with mowing etc. Scott came out and answered all my questions. I plan to continue with the other applications through the year. A bonus has been the Angie's List discount, 10%!
