Express Yourself Paint

The expansion tank above my hot water heater broke and caused a lot of staining from water damage on my ceiling. I called Express Yourself Paint and they called me back without delay, came out to do the estimate and we scheduled the job. Covered all the household items with drop clothes, super nice people and were in and out in a couple of hours. I would not hesitate to use these folks again.

The general paint quality was good but the cut in work in the stairwell modeling and dining room was sloppy. There was a lot of clean up work required so the guys had to come back. They did come right away and did a much better job cleaning up the details and getting the paint of the floors. I did notice many weeks later the stairwell handrail has not been painted on the underside which surprised me. This tells me they really rushed to get thru and it showed. I may have them come back but will need to keep a very close eye.

The painters did a good job on cut work. However, they damaged a curtain rod and several shower curtain rods and did not fully reattach light fixtures. Worse, after just a few days, we noticed that the paint appeared to have water marks all over (all rooms) and smudged very easily. The painter suggested we "wipe" the walls. This resulted in paint removal, which we deemed unacceptable. One of the painters employees and a Sherwin Williams rep came and acknowledged that a better quality paint could have been used (no mention of the use of poor quality paint was ever made when we asked for a quote). They offered to re-paint the house for the cost of paint, to which we agreed as we wanted a quick resolution. Due to having a new baby in the home and not being able to dismantle our house or move out completely for a 2nd time, we asked for some rooms to be repainted initially, with teh rest to be completed at another time. The painters did not adequately tape this time (resulting in paint spatters on the ceiling, trim and outlets/fixtures), they completely missed one wall in the master bathroom, and they re-hung wall fixtures wrong (upside down in one case). We contacted the company again and were told we should just wipe the walls. We are now left with a terrible paint job. We have condensation on our walls in any room that has moisture, and even behind toilets due to the slight amount of water evaporating from the toilet tank! Our master bathroom has - one wall that is lighter in color than the others (and water marked) because they didn't repaint it? We have marks and smudges on walls from a single touch of a clean hand. We feel it is totally unreasonable to have spent full price on a paint job that was expected to be high quality to end up with something that is worse quality than the builders paint we started with. We would like the paint to be fixed but the owner has not responded to our request or documentation of these issues. Response to Angies List from 1/12/15: Thank you for working on this on our behalf. Unfortunately what the business states is not accurate. The job that they did cost well over $5000, for which we have receipts. Second, we never asked for cheap paint; we chose top quality paint in several Sherwin Williams Premium Colors. Third, the areas of moisture are in areas that do not necessarily get splashed- like behind the toilet. I can't imagine any painting company expecting that I wipe down the entire wall behind my toilet because the moisture from flushing the toilet in my brand new home is so much that I should expect stains on the paint? Fourth, we did not pay for the repair job because it wasn't completed- there are still rooms with a single wall not repainted and paint splatters on trimwork. Finally for a paint company to say that they don't stand behind their paint in the same letter that states that they "strive for a high level of customer satisfaction," is indicative of their business practice. We still expect that our house be painted completely, with the contracted quality paint job.

Express Yourself Painters did an excellent job with our home. Tim, Chris and Mike arrived promptly and were extremely professional and courteous. They took great care in ensuring our hardwood floors and furniture were completely covered and protected and they completely cleaned up any residual mess from the spackling and sanding. We were very pleased with Express Yourself and would definitely use them again for any future painting jobs.

The painter got to the job on time. Prepped all walls and doors. and prepared floor before painted. He would ask me question a long the way. He was not satifisfied with a certain place on the wall so he redid the work. My mother will you this company again. They did a wonderful job on the room the painted.

Second time I have sued them and I have to say they are good and I am a perfectionist. I had the outside painted years ago by a group without getting good references and was disappointed. Angie's list has an A rating for them for a reason they are good. They did perform some dry wall ceiling work that was not exactly the level I would have done but on a painting they do an outstanding job. I used Benjamin Moore Aura paint in the house on the walls and BM ultra flat on the ceiling with Sherwin Williams on the crown. Aura paint is hard to work with and they did a great job with no flashing or roller marks. I will use them if I need paint work done inside and I will try them for the outside when that days comes again.

Tim and Chris of Express Yourself Paint arrived on time and ready to work. They immediately started removing the wallpaper. After scraping it all off, they repaired and prepped the walls for painting. It took both men most of the day to get this done. The second day, Tim, Chris and Mike arrived. Chris and Tim sanded smooth the upper dining room walls which had the wallpaper removed and they looked good as new! All three gentlemen painted: the dining room walls (2 coats- dark blue) and ceiling, the front foyer and ceiling, the front stairwell walls/ceiling, the second floor hallway walls/ceiling, the third floor stairwell walls/ceiling and the back hallway and stairwell walls/ceiling. All the painting was done on the second day! We provided all the paint for the project. They cleaned up any dust remaining from the walls being sanded on my floors. They were meticulous in their work and the walls/ceilings looked outstanding. They took down the ceiling light fixtures we were unable to reach safely, cleaned, then reinstalled all the fixtures after the work was completed. The three gentlemen were very quiet and very professional. I would HIGHLY recommend EYP for any painting project in your home!!

I had some partial painting that needed to be finished up by a vendor that was subpar. I saw all the great recommendations here on Angie's and decided to give them a try. Jamie came out and gave me a great price to complete the work by the other vendor and Tim & Chris arrived on the scheduled day and finished the job beautifully and in no time at all! These guys are the best and it pains me to know how much time and money I wasted on the previous vendor!!! If I ever need painting done again, this will be my first and only call! Use them with the utmost confidence!!! THESE FOLKS ARE FANTASTIC... 4/2015: I had new carpet installed and my stairs needed a touch up because the pile was different (lower on the new carpeting), so I emailed Jamie and she responded that she would relay to scheduling my desire for a quick turn around, I was placing my house on the market within the next few days. They responded quickly and I had the work done the day before my house hit the market, these professionals are the best!!! 7/21/15: I just closed on a new home for myself and had EYP come out to remove popcorn ceilings on the first floor and paint the walls of the entire house - cost came to a hair over $4200. These people are AMAZING, the job was done in 2 days (a day earlier than expected) and the work was, as expected, STELLAR!!! I had several changes coming up to the job and Brit was always responsive and patient with me. There was a problem with the color I selected for the lions share of the house and it needed a 3rd coat (something none of us could have foreseen) and they addressed the issue quickly with as minimal a cost to me as possible! I cannot recommend this company more highly, I will always use EYP, they are ethical, affordable, reliable and always EXCEED expectations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It went really well. They did the bulk of what I needed to get done. I was getting ready to leave to Afghanistan the same day, and was able to make my flight.

Express Yourself Paint painted our bedrooms and deck. We went with this company because they gave us a reasonable quote compared to another paint company. They had an office manager and project manager come to our house to take measurements and discuss paint options. Our project was scheduled to begin within two weeks of the initial meeting. We wanted to incorporate stripes in one of the bedrooms as an accent wall and Chris and Tim did an amazing job with it. We can tell that they cared about making the lines as crisp and clean as possible. They gave me honest opinions whenever I consulted them on paint stuff. The result was exactly what we had asked for. The deck needed to be stained twice because we had chosen a light color but they came back and did the job. We are pleased with our beautifully stained deck. Overall, from the beginning to the end of this project, everyone involved ( owner, manager, and painters) were courteous and professional. They also showed up on time and if there was a delay, they gave me calls to keep me informed.

This was the second time I used Express Yourself Paint. Scheduling was quick and easy. Both times the painters were courteous and quiet, with me hardly knowing they were there. They covered everything, moved the furniture that was required, and painted two coats with good quality in the room. I've not seen any bare spots in the last two weeks and the trim work was very well done. I'm very pleased and would use them again. Highly recommended.

John (Sales), Jason (Commercial Operations) and the guys on the paint crew were all great to work with. John and Jason were very responsive to any questions I had either by phone and email. The paint crew worked very quickly, finishing the entire job in 4 days. They were very friendly,respectful, polite and professional.

It was fine but it took them about 5 months before they could get to me which I was not happy about. The painters were good and they worked hard. They cleaned everything up and you would not even know they were here. They got the job done in 7 hours.

Came out on time to provide a quote. Requested small deposit to cover materials. Called to schedule service date. Arrived on time for painting. Performed task as contracted. Cleaned up after the job was completed. What more could you ask for?

left multiple paint splotches (some quite large) on the screens, missed finishing a windowsill, Did come back and complete the job after i called but then left pushy voice mail about my failure to pay when job was done ( i was waiting for it to be cleaned up) Also scheduling seemed disorganized

I either spoke or emailed the company contact, and remember that there was a scheduling or coverage issue, over which they were supposed to get back with me. I don't believe there was any communication after that. I don't have any reason to believe that the provider wouldn't have done a good job, it just never happened which is the reason for the "B" (really, not enough information would be my choice).

I contacted several painters from Angie's List requesting price quotes. I received 3 price quotes and chose Express Yourself Paint. They were not the least expensive, but I felt the most comfortable with them. The work crew was available within days of my signing the contract with the company. They arrived on time, wasted no time setting up their drop clothes and patching holes. It took the crew a much shorter amount of time than anticipated. They did a great job and were very quiet and courteous while in my home. I, of course, wish it didn't cost quite so much to have my house painted but that's human nature :-) I would recommend this company.

Great group of guys. They showed up when they said they would and cleaned up each evening. They were willing to answer any questions I had and offered suggestions when I was unsure what to paint in the room. Next time we need a painter we know who to call. Love having nice clean ceilings and the office is beautiful.

I was impressed with this company from the start, when the estimator, John, came to our house. He showed us a powerpoint presentation that explained information about the company's philosophies, safety standards, insurance of workers, etc. He talked with us about different types of paint, and also let us borrow the Sherwin Williiams complete color wheel, even before he knew if we were going to hire them. We were pleased with the discounts he was able to offer us, and thought the price was very reasonable. After I hired Express Yourself, they were able to book me for the next week, and they completed the job in three days with three workers who put in very long days. The first thing that impressed me was how meticulously they taped up and masked the entire house before painting. The paint job itself was done extremely well, with no visible flaws. The house looks great!
