Description of Work: Installed 2 skylights in my great room cathedral ceiling. Jim was fantastic. He provided excellent advice on the size and placement of the skylight. The amount of light provided by the skylights are amazing. As indicated, the job took a little more than one day. Best remodeling decision I have ever made. I highly recommend Ellington Woodworks.

Description of Work: Repaired flashing on skylight that was leaking. Hasn't rained yet since then, so not sure if problem is fixed:)

Description of Work: I contacted them about my two skylights. I sent photos via email and they replied quickly. He said the approximate cost would be $2300, and there would be a $50 site visit charge to give a firm estimate. I explained that there were two skylights, asked several other questions regarding size, etc. and he answered most of them via email. He came for the site visit punctually and seemed very knowledgeable. However, at the end of the visit (after I paid the $50), I asked if it would still be $2300. He said no, that was EACH skylight. $4600 does not fit in our budget (other estimates had been in the $2500 range). Had I know that was the total I would not have spent my time, or the money, on the site visit. He suggested that I wait until I could afford the total job -- which I may do. But I wouldn't have gone forward with the site visit had I known the total cost. I emailed him to suggested that he waive the $50 fee, given the misunderstanding. But I never heard back. | |I think that he is an experienced contractor (from what I could tell). But I would be VERY clear about what the TOTAL estimate is before you pay the $50 fee for the site visit.
