Called Sawyer's E Z move in order to move the heavy furniture pieces we couldn't fit in a van from our old apartment to our new house. They were very friendly on the phone, talked to the owner himself, and scheduling was a breeze. Mentioning Angie's List gave us a discount on the first three hours. We had an estimate done ahead of time. Despite telling the person doing the estimate that we would have our furniture emptied and there was no need to move any of the small items, he seemingly didn't believe us and hugely overestimated the time it would take to move us. What was a ten hour estimate costing over $1,000, ended up being a three hour move, costing $325! While it is nice not to have a nasty surprise when the move takes much longer/costs more than expected, overestimating by a whooping seven hours seems a bit too much as well. Of note is the fact that this company makes you sign a waiver on all glass and MDF furniture for which the original packaging is not available - I have moved seven times in my life and never saw such a waiver. Why anybody would keep the original packaging for all their furniture is beyond my wildest imagination. I understand that MDF breaks easily, but glass does not as long as it is properly handled. Nothing broke during our move, but this is certainly something to keep in mind if you have a lot of MDF furniture. The move itself, as indicated, went fast. We told the movers which items to move, mainly two complete bedrooms, the living room with a large entertainment center, two large glass tables, and multiple shelves, as well as a washer and dryer. The two guys tried to lift as much as possible on their own, which at times seemed excessive, but never dropped or scuffed anything. In the house we asked the movers to lift everything and not slide it on the carpet, as we just had the carpet cleaned and stretched, and they complied with our request without further question. They setup the washer and dryer without any issues, placed the furniture just the way we wanted, and worked efficiently. Overall we are very happy with the movers! Why did I end up giving a B, instead of an A, even though the move itself went perfectly well? The waiver on glass and MDF was a bit irritating, especially since the company does not mention it beforehand. Combined with the gross overestimation of the time it would take to move us, a B seems like the correct grade.
