Draperies By Townes

The draperies had to be returned several times. When I initially got them, I could not get them to hang correctly and discovered that the problem was because the lining was wider than the drapery material. I returned them and then found that they were not stitched all the way at the top and the stitching could come out. I also found that the heading tape was several inches too short, not going all the way to the sides of the drapes. This leading edge would be a problem where the drapes meet on the traverse rod. The owner was considerate enough to come out himself and pick them up and return them so that I would not have to drive all the way down town again on one of the re-dos. When I hung them again, it was daylight and I saw that the side hems appeared to be different widths as the light was coming through differently. It turned out that the seams along the side hems were oriented inwards on some and outwards on the others. I called, and the owner agreed that they should not be that way. Then suddenly frustration got the better of him and he concluded that he could not please me and said he was going to give me my money back. After all the handling, the side of one of the drapes is very stretched such that when it hangs it is very bowed and twists. You inappropriately see the lining from inside the room, not just the face of the drape.
