DAVENPORT AT FIVE

Davenport was the florist for our wedding 28 years ago and I have tried to use them for all of our needs since, most notably flowers for dances, corsages, etc. Admittedly I was tardy in ordering a corsage this past week--for good reason--and personally went to Davenport to order one. I was interrupted and told they had stopped taking orders the Tuesday before. I had no problem with that and simply asked if they could make a recommendation for me on another florist who could assist me. The lady I spoke with would not refer me to another florist, but suggested I could go to the grocery store. She then said something to the effect of "I am not sure they can help you." Fortunately I called another florist who was delighted to help me. I would never had moved my business if Davenport had simply had a recommendation for me. People, long-term customers, have emergencies, family deaths and all sorts of experiences that cause them to need help or a legitimate referral. sNot the grocery store!
