Clegg's Termite & Pest Control LLC

Rick Johnson, an employee of the Asheville office came to my house in March because I had identified carpet beetles. I believe it his job to make money for the company even if he has to lie and deceive the customer to do so. Do not believe their free inspection because Rick is not capable of finding the source of the problem and treating accordingly. He simply guessed that they were in the crawlspace and I paid $2950 for a dehumidifier that did not help and almost doubled my power bill. Rick was wrong about everything. I also went to the expense of replacing the insulation in part of the crawlspace because Rick said that is where the bugs were. There was no improvement. He was very patronizing and condescending. I was told my contact dermatitis from these insects was in my imagination and the intense itching was probably "scabies". Pesticides were sprayed in and around the house without relief. The next step was glue traps to confirm the insect. When they were picked up by Rick, he said, " The only bug on here is an ant". Their office later told me that the traps definitely showed carpet beetles. After 3 months and numerous calls, an entomologist from their company came out. I greatly appreciated him and am thankful a knowledgeable person was sent. He informed me that the beetles were in the attic, even though he did not go into the attic. When I asked why I wasn't told this before, he just shrugged and said "Rick didn't know". What good does it do to send an exterminator that can't do his job? I wasted a lot of money with this company and was exposed to unnecessary pesticides. I purchased the product suggested by the entomologist and will treat the area myself. I'm sorry I ever called this company and will never do so again.

While the termite treatment provided was a good job at a good price, I cancelled the yearly follow-up inspections for $129 after the first year. That has not stopped Clegg's from trying to make appointments for reinspection. This year someone actually did the inspection and then came to my door with a bill! I told him the same thing I told Clegg's on the phone before, that I had cancelled the service after the first year. Today I got a bill in the mail. I called and once again and confirmed that my contract was cancelled last year, and once again they promised this would not happen again. We'll see.

The inspector was on time and very professional.? He was also very knowledgeable with a degree in agriculture from UGA (if I remember correctly).?? He later came the day of the extermination to check on things and to introduce me to the extermination team.? I can't believe how quickly they worked.? They had a crew of 4 guys and everyone had specific things to do and two trucks.? Other jobs may only have one crew of 2 and we got lucky because business was slow?? I don't know.? They did not damage my landscaping.? It took a week or so before I didn't see any more live termites.? This is normal.? I did a lot of research.? The cheaper estimates only thought that spot treating the garage where we saw the infestation was enough.? None of the university websites that I checked recommended that.? All of them said that to provide protection and kill the infestation, total treatment was needed.? Clegg's recommendations were the same as all of the major universities that I checked with.

Things started normally: an inspector looked at our house and left an estimate for work to be performed. A team showed up, performed the work, left a work order describing what they had done, but never left an invoice that we could pay. We had no the exact amount we owed, when it was due, or really who to send it to. Time passes and we were curious as to when we would get a bill, but still never received one. About 3 weeks passes and I get the first of what would be many phone calls for me to pay the bill. I then email a request for an invoice and was told "the termite crew left you your first invoice at the time of service". This meant one of two things, the crew lied or forgot, or the person making that statement was lying or lacked the ability to imagine a world where someone in their organization had made a mistake. Either way, we never received an invoice until I requested one via email. When I received that invoice I put a check in the mail immediately. In the time it took for the check to get from Raleigh to Durham, I had received 2 more phone calls. One would hope that the actual termite prevention service is a good as they are at losing customers. They are absolutely unprofessional and incompetent and we will never use them again.

They seem fine and the technician who comes out is very personable. I would use them again in the future.

They do a good job, as I don't see a lot of bugs.

They come on a schedule. They do the job, and they leave. I would refer a family member or friend to them.

I have been using them for five years. They come during the day and perform the services and leave the invoice on the door. They are professional and competent.
