The owner did a great job. The built-ins look wonderful - even better than expected. He is quick with installation and also gives you recommendations on look&feel of different options. Will definitely hire again, in case we need more built-ins etc.

Paul is an amazing custom cabinet maker. I had a specific need for a cabinet for a boat and he was able to accomodate the specific way that the boat is shaped ot make it look like it was put there when built. I'd highly recommend Paul and am planning on asking for his help on my next project.

Paul McDonald is an experienced, outstanding cabinet maker and craftsman. In our first meeting he took the time to listen to our ideas and plans, and then put together really great designs for our spaces. We were very impressed by Paul's eye for design and detail. He had many suggestions and good ideas to made the spaces functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. He was also very receptive to our ideas. Paul is a true professional. He gave us a timeline for the project and kept us updated on progress as he began building the cabinets. With Paul there were no delays or surprises. He stuck to the planned schedule and installed the cabinets on time. His cabinets are of the highest quality - well-built, beautifully finished with workmanship far superior to commercial cabinets. He added numerous details and features that really enhanced the look and function of our space. We couldn't be happier with the results. We were so pleased with the home office and Murphy bed that we also asked Paul to design and install living room built-in bookcases and cabinets. We highly recommend Carpathian Woodworks!

I visited Paul's workshop and immediately recognized his excellent workmanship. After looking at the old cabinet he drew a diagram based upon my needs and constructed it perfectly to fit in the space. He was punctual and kept me apprised of the approximate date for installation based on the boxes he had to order. He was right on time. Compared to his other jobs, mine was a very small one but he treated me just like he would a large carpentry job.

Plain and simple, this is the best experience I've ever had with a home contractor (and I've had plenty of other good ones as well as not so good). Paul is a gem. It's not just his workmanship, which is top notch, it's the A-plus customer service. He communicated with us with every step of the way, which is reassuring when you're dropping this much dough on a home project. He also is a great guy. I found Paul randomly on the web. His positive reviews and the photos of his work suggested he had decades of experience and a strong track record of success and happy customers. Based on this, my expectations were high. Paul exceeded them. I can't recommend strongly enough. The unit Paul built has transformed our living room. We couldn't be happier.

Carpathian Woodworks is Paul McDonald's business and he runs it in a very professional manner. I requested a quote and within an hour he responded by asking me for photographs and a description of the work. Paul gave me a preliminary quote on the phone and set up an on site appointment. Paul arrived on time and he, my interior decorator and I discussed what I wanted. He has a great design instinct and suggested several enhancements that really improved on our initial vision. Paul gave me a quote before leaving, and then suggested adding laser cut doors for the cabinets used to hold the receiver, DVD player and other equipment. How much, I asked and Paul said no additional cost. He just thought the doors would really upscale the design (he was right). I accepted the quote and Paul gave me an install date. Paul called me before the install date to confirm he would arrive at 8:00. He arrived at 7:45 on the date and the installation was completed on the same day. This is amazing given the cabinets take up almost two full walls and a corner entertainment center! The work was perfect, the job site was spotless and the cost came on on target. Recently I was discussing this with a friend. We agreed that a dream contractor is one arrives on time for appointments, gives an accurate scope and estimate of the work, delivers on time, and keeps within the budget. Paul McDonald / Carpathian Woodworks is that dream contractor. I give him my highest recommendation.

Paul did an awesome job and we are very pleased with the cabinets he installed. I contacted him with an idea and a few photos of what I visualized and he brought it to reality. In addition to the cabinets I wanted them to be built around a wine/beverage cooler. He came over and took his time going through the design with me to make sure everything was how I wanted it. He also simply took the specs from the cooler to include those in the plan. Installation was quick and he communicated well throughout the project. Would definitely use Carpathian again.

Paul's work is amazing. He's creative, extremely knowledgeable and skilled, an artist. And he's very professional and easy to work with. He sent us photographs along the way so we could see how the pieces were coming. And he always kept appointments and was on time. Paul works with one customer at a time so once he starts your project, you know that you won't have to wait a long time until it's finished. Highly recommend.

Brought prefinished parts and installed in one morning. Looks very nice and does the job we were looking for.

The cabinets and shelves are beautiful, well made and meticulously finished in white lacquer. Paul sent pictures of the cabinets in process, including alternative mounting locations for the hardware so I could choose which I preferred. The cabinets were completed when promised.

The entire congregation is thrilled with the quality of the craftsmanship of the cabinets and with the way the new cabinets change the entire kitchen for the better. Far more storage space helps make the kitchen be more efficient. The maple wood has helped make the kitchen brighter. Paul wasn't the cheapest guy we talked to but you get what you pay for, and we are happy with the value he provided Since this work was to be done in our living room, we wanted to be sure it was a quality job - and it was. In fact, I wish he had made our kitchen cabinets (installed by our original house contractor) because his are much higher quality. Paul worked with us to stay within our budget and went out of his way to make sure we ended up with something we would be happy with. He spent a couple hours with us discussing our project before we even hired him (1 guy gave us an estimate over the phone, which installed no confidence whatsoever in what the end product would look like), and he was willing to make some changes along the way. Paul built and painted the cabinets largely at his shop so there was little painting and woodworking performed in our house, minimizing the mess we were left with and the time he spent installing the built-ins. He was on time every time he came to our house and finished the job on schedule. He even helped me out with a couple small do-it-yourself projects. Very satisfied.

Paul was prompt, knowledgeable, honest about what could and couldn't be done and helped us keep within our budget. The finished product was as close to the color of the existing cabinet that is is very difficult to tell that any modification was done, despite the fact that the original was installed 27 yrs ago. Extremely pleased!

Paul is very detailed oriented. He did an excellent job matching molding and paint so that it looks like it has always been there. He listened to what we wanted but also gave us ideas. He is very easy to work with.

Amazing! Paul exceeded expectations from the very start, He was early for our meeting and went right to work evaluating the site and asking what we needed or wanted to do; all I wanted was to modify an existing built in and add a new base cabinet. Paul was professional and candid telling me that the entire unit would be cheaper to replace than to modify so that is how we proceeded. The project was completed early and installed with no trouble prior to the original delivery date. Paul and company delivered the unit, covered all the floors with padding to prevent damage to the house and unit, fit the unit into place and trimmed it out in 2 hours or so, all of the cutting/trimming was done outside and any debris was promptly vacuumed up....very tidy installation. We could not be any happier with the results! I highly recommend Carpathian Woodworks and Paul to anyone who needs a quality build.

Wow! We wanted a complete overhaul of our home office and Paul exceeded our expectations. He was a consummate professional. He was prompt and responsive to questions, has exacting standards for his work, delivers beautiful high-end work, and completes the work on time. I can't stop admiring the floor-to-ceiling bookcase (with a rolling ladder). We will definitely use him again for our next project. He has my highest recommendation!

Paul was very easy to work with. He came to our house within a day or two of making contact and spent considerable time talking though our needs. We were looking for a large wall unit to house a 65" TV, and to also accommodate hanging 6 guitars. He sketched several ideas and we came to agreement on a design and price. He outlined a timeline and kept us appraised of his progress with emails, texts and photographs. He delivered and installed the unit on the date promised. It looked great. He even came back a week later to correct a very minor issue that HE noticed (not us). Overall, Paul did very good work for a fair price, stuck to his timeline and genuinely cared about the quality of his work. I would use him again for custom cabinetry work.

Paul was on time and professional with providing an estimate for the work that we wanted to have done. He brought a portfolio with examples of his work to help me in choosing what we might want to have done. He got back to me promptly with an estimate with drawings and readily answered my questions. While we ultimately went a different route for our work, we would have no reservations about having him do the work in the future.

Paul was very professional and willing to explain the process to grant my wishes. He was very detailed and answered all questions and concerns. Paul also provided (free of charge) me a gallon of wood stain to use to stain the unfinished cabinet shelving that would be exposed once the tempered glass replaced the door panels. He allowed me to use the amount of stain needed and just return the remaining product to him once I returned to pick up my doors. Far above expectations. I would highly recommend him for future projects.

My kitchen cabinet doors were not closing correctly. I contacted Paul and he asked me a few questions. Then suggested taking a few photos of the problem cabinets and sending them to him. He said he would look and let me know what he thought. In fact, Paul got back to me almost immediately with a great and simple recommendation including advice on how to size and replace my specific type of hinges. I appreciated Paul's transparency about the cost of a minimum job and that it wouldn;t be worth it for me to have him come out. But I was incredibly appreciative of his willingness to help solve my problem anyway. If I need any work in the future, he'll be my first call.

Paul responded to my phone message within a day. He was very patient as I tried to explain what we needed. His knowledge of wood materials is amazing. Once I had delivered a piece of the furniture to match the stain, he had the work done in about 2 weeks. Since this was a small job, we were thinking he wouldn't be interested but he was so great to work with and went far and beyond to make this work for us. I picked up the panels today and couldn't be happier.
