Great! Flooring is beautiful and the carpet is, too. Reasonable price and excellent recommendations re: type and color of both. Very professional job, which I managed from my new city, 90 miles away. Couldn't have asked for nicer folks or better work. I chose them from their Angie's List reviews, and I'm so glad I did! Work site was cleaner than I left it. Highly recommend Carolina In Home Flooring!!

I am 100% more than satisfied. Everything went perfectly. The owner Mike worked within my budget and provided me with ideas. He checked up with me every step of the way and was extremely professional throughout the whole process. They did an outstanding job on all floors and they did it in the time frame they said they would. As far as I'm concerned there is none better. If you want your floors done by a true professional who will provide you with different ideas and do it at a price to meet your budget there is no other choice. I would recommend Carolina in home flooring to friends and family without a shadow of a doubt! Fast forward to 7/1/2015: The hardwoods have began to "cup". This is not good and looks bad. The owner Mike is scheduled to come out on the 20th to inspect them. The existing hardwoods are straight as an arrow so I hope the owner stands by his work. I will update after the 20th.

We contacted CIHF because we were planning on replacing our carpet to get our home ready to sell. Martha kept our budget in mind when she brought carpet samples to our home and provided wonderful advice while we contemplated our options. We never felt pressured to make a decision which was really nice as well. Martha and the rest of the team were very attentive and responsive leading up to the install and post install. The installation team was great as well. They were careful with our furniture and they did a great job removing the old carpet and installing our new carpet. They were very detailed while installing the carpet on our open staircase as well. They took their time cleaning up after the installation as well so there were no staples or fibers left behind when they left. The last thing I will say is that we received a thank you note from Martha about two weeks after our installation thanking us for our business and wishing us luck while our home is on the market. You don't often see business done that way anymore and it was a nice surprise. We have already recommended them to friends and family and we will definitely use them in the future.

Dear Customer, we appreciate you sharing your experience with other Angie's List members. We do take much pride in the products we offer, and the installation and services performed. Quite often in floor refinishing the process seems to take longer than maybe expected. The exterior weather conditions( rain and humidity) affect the drying time between coats. We are careful to make sure that each coat is sufficiently dried before proceeding to next. This assures that the urethane application process is performed correctly and will last for many years. We appreciate your patience and hope you enjoy your new refinished floors. Please reach out to us with any questions or concerns that you might have. Thank you, Drew Propes Carolina In Home Flooring

They did an excellent job and took less than 4 hours from start to finish, including removing the old carpet, doing new trim and clean-up. Amazingly fast and excellent quality workmanship. All of the staff were professional, from our initial contact with Martha to the end of our service with Oscar and his work crew. This is our second service with Carolina In Home Flooring, and we will use them again should another flooring need arise.

The owner came out to look at the job and give an estimate. We set up a date to install. They delivered the flooring 5 days ahead so the wood could acclimate to the house. This is an important installation step that some installers skip. The installers called ahead, as requested, and arrived exactly on time. They were professional and tended to all details. They even checked all the subfloor to make sure it was nailed properly and no nails were sticking up. They set up all cutting outside and put covering down to protect my existing wood floors. They worked quickly and neatly and were very professional. When they were finished, they cleaned up and left. The floors are beautiful and transforms the upstairs. We are very pleased and will use them again on our next flooring project.

Drew and the entire crew were excellent to work with. Drew responded to our phone call within a day. On his initial visit, he gave us all the time we needed, answering our many questions, showing us samples, measuring the rooms. Even though it was so close to Thanksgiving, he honored our request to complete the job before our family arrived. His crew arrived promptly on the morning promised, they were all very polite and hard-working, we were impressed with how they cleaned up afterwards. In fact, even though we knew the job might require a second day, the crew stayed on through early evening finishing everything up in one day.

Drew came out for the estimate and helped us pick out the floors. He was extremely helpful and friendly and guided us through the process, since this was our first time replacing floors in a house. Once we decided on our floors and paid our deposit, Drew scheduled work quickly. Oscar and his team were extremely professional and fast and hard workers. Our floors were done in one day, and Oscar always checked before doing anything if an issue came up. Overall, we are very happy with our new floors, and we appreciated the care and attention we received from Carolina In Home Flooring throughout the entire process.

We had problems with water from a washing machine drain overflowing and damaging our laminate floors in our 1 year old home. We wanted to get the laminate replaced in only the area damaged but the laminate we chose for our new home was discontinued by the manufacturer. We ended up needing to have all laminate on the 1st floor replaced, 800+ square feet. We researched flooring companies on Angie?s List and called 4 companies to provide estimates. We were really apprehensive about what type of flooring to choose this time around since we saw how much damage a small amount of water could do to laminate. The laminate acted like a ?wick? and caused ?cupping? of the flooring in front of the laundry closet and in the hallway and kitchen. In addition to water from that source, we have a half bath, a dishwasher, and a fridge with an ice maker all on the 1st floor. There are also 2 beagles in the family so we wanted something durable. The flooring companies brought samples of pretty much the same options, engineered hardwood and laminate with some who offered vinyl plank flooring. We liked the idea of the vinyl plank but it was basically vinyl flooring (very thin) in the shape of planks with a ?wood-like? look. Drew from CIHF came by and offered us another option?Coretec vinyl flooring. This was also "wood-like" look plank flooring but was more substantial in thickness with a ceramic middle layer and a cork layer on the bottom. He said that this is becoming more popular in residential settings and is very popular in commercial settings. We liked the appearance of the sample he brought and requested a larger sample which was delivered a couple of weeks later. We ended up choosing this flooring because it's water proof, looks great, and is durable. It was also cheaper than any of our laminate options. Oscar and his team arrived as was arranged. There were 3 men total who pulled up the old laminate, disposed of it, moved furniture, and installed the new vinyl plank flooring. These guys worked as a team and certainly knew what they were doing. They were very pleasant to deal with. Drew told us initially that it would probably take 1 day but that they reserve the following 1/2 day to come by and finish up, if needed. Around 3:00 pm, we asked Oscar how things were progressing and if they would be done by the end of the day. At that time, he said they would probably need to come by the next morning to complete the job. We were disappointed because to us, it looked like they could be done the same day. Lo and behold, a few hours later Oscar said that they would be staying to complete the job!! They took a dinner break and were done that evening. The floor looks fantastic, better than our old laminate!! It is also much quieter when walked on. CIHF was a pleasure to deal with and we would highly recommend them to others. We are very pleased. Thanks!

Dear Customer, I am so pleased to hear that you love your new floors, and that the experience lived up to your expectations. It was such a pleasure to come out and meet you, and assist you with your selection of the right product for your home. With the moisture challenges that you were faced with, the CORETEC will certainly provide you with a stable floor that will prevail in the event that your moisture misfortune was to reoccur. I am also very pleased that through communication we were able start and complete the installation within the time frame that I had originally advised. Oscar and his crew work efficiently, and most important, they work carefully to insure that the product is installed properly so that it will perform as to be expected. The process of working with Carolina In Home Flooring was excellent from start to finish. Communication, follow-up and follow through was very professional. Drew is very knowledgeable and helpful, answering my tons of questions along the way. I love that they bring the carpet to your home and that their installation process is turnkey. Alex and his installation team did a really flawless job. They moved furniture around, took beds apart, pulled up old carpet/pad and installed the new, they vacuumed everything, etc. While I knew there would be dust in having this work done, it really wasn't as much as I anticipated because they did such a fabulous job of cleaning up, putting the furniture back together and back in place. Excellent from start to finish! Our house looks brand new again and we love the new carpet smell! Even our kids were excited to see their house (especially their rooms) re-carpeted! Thanks to Alex & Crew, Drew and Kelly for such a great experience! I will recommend you for carpet anytime!

CIFC failed to adequately communicate floor care instructions, and as a result I suffered $450 worth of scuff mark damage to the newly refinished floors. Several problems occurred on this job, and I found it difficult and frustrating to try to work them out with the rude owner. Despite repeated requests, the company will not respond to my written complaints detailing how I believe that they are responsible for these scuff mark damages, and thus I am stuck with them. This service job was fraught with problems. First, I was given a misleading quote that didn't account for all of the recommended options. They send a designer out to make the original quote, but only after you have paid the 50% deposit do they send an installer who then recommends additional upcharge options not in the quote. In my case, these options were presented to my property manager and new tenant, and of course once she saw them the tenant wanted the upcharge items (about $500 for an expensive new stain finish choice and some minor woodwork to change the transition in one doorway). To me, quoting one finish and then showing another comes mighty close to "bait and switch". There is no reason that their designer could not have included the option of this other finish in the quote had they intended to try to upsell it to me. I told CIFC that I would pay for these upcharges (given that I couldn't get my tenant to "unsee" them and she would not be happy without them), but that I wasn't happy getting stuck with additional charges that were not in their original quote. To CIFC's credit the owner did end up comping these items. However, to reach this point I had to suffer through a very frustrating phone conversation with the owner where he was quite rudely interrupting me seemingly every time I tried to finish a sentence. I had to follow up with an email to get my point across, as he appeared to be quite incapable of listening on the phone. Later, there was a major screw up with regards to communicating care instructions to avoid damaging the new floor finish. After the floor was refinished, someone scuffed up the floor before the new finish cured, causing damages which CIFC quoted $450 to repair. I believe that CIFC is responsible for these damages not by scuffing up the floors themselves, but by failing to adequately communicate the instructions needed to prevent the damage. I have communicated this to them in writing and have asked multiple times for a response, but have yet to get any substantive response. When I contracted for this job, I made it clear that I was an out-of-state property owner, and that my property manager would be handling the in-home interactions including controlling access to the property. I provided CIFC with both her email and her telephone number. However, when the job was performed, the office manager opted not to send the floor care instructions to my property manager or even even to me. Instead she sent them only to an old email of my wife's. CIFC only had this email address because my wife had used it when requesting a different quote from CIFC 15 months prior, and she had not contacted them since. Despite the fact that my wife had not been involved in any of the communications having to do with this job up to this point (from requesting the quote to selecting the options to scheduling of the job), they incredibly decided to switch to using her old email for this critical communication. This email went unnoticed as it was sent to an old account that is no longer my wife's primary account. Furthermore, the installer failed to post an adequate notice at the property to prevent the floor from being damaged. He left a note on Saturday which read, "do not walk on until Sunday". As it turns out, the floor finishing treatment that was applied takes not one but several days to fully cure, so the real danger was much more than the note indicated. We don't know for certain who damaged the floors. I believe the owner when he states that the installer left the floor devoid of scuff marks when he completed the job. We know that no one else entered on Saturday. It appears that some other contractor entered the property on Sunday and damaged the floor. However, even if he saw the note left by the installer, he was obeying the warning on the note, and would have had no way of knowing that the floors were not yet cured and therefore the potential that he could damage them. I tried to communicate these concerns to the owner, but again found him to be quite rude. He was so convinced that he needed to defend his installer against the accusation that the installer created the scuffs himself that he couldn't stop interrupting and talking over me long enough to hear what I had to say. So again I had to resort to email to get my point across: that CIFC was responsible for the damages not because their employees had scuffed the floor themselves, but because they had failed to take adequate measures to prevent others from scuffing it. Despite numerous requests, I still have not gotten any substantive response to these claims. I am convinced that had CIFC been competent in their communications that the floor would not have been scuffed up. So, I am now stuck paying for a refinishing job that was marred up before my tenant even had a chance to move in. Given that the owner had already comped the upcharges for the upgraded finish, I could see how he was hesitant to pay to fix the scuff marks too. However, it's not my fault that his employees messed up independently and repeatedly on the same job. CIFC won't even address the issue of whether their employees adequately communicated the floor care instructions. Do you really want to do business with a company so arrogant and incompetent that they will not respond to customer complaints? -------------------------- UPDATE: The owner Mike describes the communications on this job as if they were one big complicated mess that existed through no fault of his own. That is simply not true. CIFC was never asked to involve four different people in an ongoing conversation. My wife was never intended to be involved, nor was CIFC ever asked to involve her. CIFC inexplicably decided, of their own volition, and at a critical juncture, to redirect all their communications from the principal parties involved to my wife who had previously been completely uninvolved in the job. The intended lines of communication were very clear -- CIFC simply failed to follow them. There was no excuse for CIFC not sending the floor care instructions to the property manager, and there was no excuse for failing to post proper warnings at the job site. I have repeatedly asked CIFC to respond to the specific complaint that they are at fault for failing to adequately communicate the floor care instructions, and they have not responded in any substantive way to that claim. This remains true. Note that Mike's response below still does not specifically address it. Again, Mike tries to confuse the issue here by inflating my claims. I am NOT claiming that CIFC does not respond to customer complaints in general. CIFC DID respond to my earlier complaints about other matters (albeit in a way that I found to be very rude and frustrating). But the truth remains that CIFC has still not responded to this specific complaint in any substantive way. I find it unacceptable for any vendor to fail to answer a direct written complaint. This is not quality customer service in any way, shape, or form. Mike would have you believe that I have made it difficult for them to communicate with, and this is why they haven't responded. Certainly nothing is stopping them from providing a written response either here in this review or directly to me. Just as Mike's rude interrupting demeanor on phone calls led me to switch to using emails to communicate with them, nothing prevents them from writing to me. Furthermore, all of the supposedly "offensive" behaviors of mine came after the initial complaint, to which they had plenty of time to respond. For the record, these are the "offensive" items which I communicated: The only offensive word which I used was the common synonym for rectum, and it was used in reference to myself not CIFC staff. The "very offensive picture" which I sent was a famous G-rated photoshop image that I first saw published in a family newspaper. It depicts a fully clothed business man in a contorted position which makes it appear that his head is buried neck deep into his posterior. I sent this only to Mike, accompanied by the text "FYI, here is a picture of your staff making sure that someone doesn't scuff up the floor". I stand by this statement. I believe that the real reason that Mike will not respond to this complaint is that he has decided to cut his losses with me. I have become dissatisfied, and he has likely deemed it not to be cost effective to make me happy. Apparently, CIFC's commitment to delivering a quality job ends when it becomes too expensive for CIFC to take financial responsibility for their own mistakes.
Description of Work: Sanded down and refinished hardwood floors, replaced some boards, changed hardwood-to-carpet transition in one doorway. Work was performed in a rental house that I own. Since I live in another state and this is a rental property, my property manager was handling the in-home interactions with the vendor.

It is always unfortunate for all of us at CIHF when we are unable to satisfy our customers. As this customer has stated, I do take great pride in my entire staffs abilities, and as you will see in all of our OTHER reviews, so do the majority of our customers. It is extremely difficult to try to communicate with 2 owners out of state, a renter and a property manager. The lines of communication have been on going with all involved from the beginning of this project, including numerous emails, dozens of phone calls and many on site visits from the sales staff, installers and myself. Our main goal was to try and satisfy 4 different people on this project, and as this customer stated, we did just that. The subsequent damage to the floors occurred after the job was completed. The statement that CIHF would not respond to our customers complaints is a blatant untruth. Our continued attempts to communicate and satisfy this customer ended yesterday after he sent my staff a very offensive picture and started using offensive language on the phone and in emails. Carolina In Home Flooring is, and will always be, dedicated to quality products, installation and customer service. Mike Nelson Owner

I love they brought the carpet samples to me and I was able to take samples up to the space to see how it looked. Installers were efficient and did a great job. Overall very pleased with my experience.

Dear Customer, We also love going to the customers' homes because it makes our jobs easier!. The process is simplified with selections that you request. The color is easier to pick having it there in your home with your fabrics and paint colors. As Salespeople, we are able to see how you live in your home in order to give you our opinions and experience on what type of flooring to use. Our installers have been doing what they do for many years which aids in being able to be efficient, yet leave knowing they did a great job. I will pass on your comments to them to reinforce their good work habits! We certainly appreciate you taking the time to write a favorable review. It keeps us "in check." Enjoy your new carpet and please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Sincerely, Martha Gerringer Sales Consultant

I loved that they came to the house to see the space and help us decide what to do and how to do it. Drew was very professional. I felt like it was 'turnkey" in that he would take care of all the details. Our wood was more difficult to find that either of us thought, but the installation went well, clean up was perfect, no complaints at all.

The company was a pleasure to deal with from the start. We consulted with several companies, but really enjoyed the interaction with Mike, Martha and Kelly. They advised different courses of action, and when we eventually settled on one, they worked with my demanding schedule to find a good time to do the install. Oscar and his crew arrived on time, were fast and efficient and left the place cleaner than they found it. We had an uneven space in the floor, and Mike came out and personally worked with Oscar to fix it. The result was a very nice looking and level floor. The estimate was good, and the final price was better. Dealing with the uneven floor issue added a little more but not a lot. Overall, the cost of the entire job was reasonable. I would recommend them and will consult them again on future projects.

I originally was thinking about installing laminate floors and Mike came over to my house to show me a variety of choices related to that. I then changed my mind and wanted to go with hardwood and Mike was nice enough to come back and show me his hardwood selections. I went with that and Oscar and his crew came over and knocked it out in about a day and a half. They were also nice enough to stick around and help put some furniture back and cut some closet doors. It could not have gone smoother and now I have some great looking hardwood floors. It was a pleasure to work with them.

Drew was great to work with. Very knowledgeable and helped me pick out a carpet that was low VOC and least filled with chemicals. We chose 2 different carpets..one type for the upstairs and one for the basement stairs. They both are beautiful and turned out GREAT! I would use them again! WONDERFUL! A designer friend of mine was with me at the time and she was impressed as well and took their business card to use in the future for her clients.

The first inquiry to Carolina In Home Flooring followed the purchase of an Angie's $99 Big Deal special. From the initial in-home review and measurements, through installation and cleanup, all went smoothly. Everyone in the company with whom I had contact did an outstanding job. The installers arrived on time and proceeded without incident. They informed me of what would take place and were able to complete the work much earlier than expected. The new floors are absolutely beautiful, and I'm very pleased. I do hope to use the company again for flooring in another area of the house.
