Terrible! The concrete cracked, our septic line was crushed, the workers put out their cigarettes in our pond and left the butts floating and the discarded nails were so numerous, we paid our nephew .10 cents a nail and he made $50! We had to spend $10k to have the septic line repaired and they refused to take responsibility for their error. After we took them to court, the judge said that they were responsible but since they were working with the Wake County inspectors, it absolved them of any wrong doing. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE! You get what you pay for!

several different specialized teams performed various jobs on site. each was professional , organized, answered all questions,worked with my special needs to build a garage to my wishes, build process went as described in a timeley manner with as little disruption as possible. we are very pleased with this once in a lifetime project. highly recommend .

So far I haven't selected a company to build my garage, but it is unlikely that I will choose Carolina Custom Builders. My overall impression of them is that they would probably do a decent job and be reasonably priced, as long as it is specifically within their wheelhouse. I'll explain. It took 4 months to get a response from my message to them through Angie's List. Apparently they had a personnel change which threw off their communications... After I did get a response from them, it took several more attempts to get a site visit scheduled for an estimate. They could tell I was very interested in getting the work done, so they accommodated me by squeezing me in on their lunch hour. During their visit, they seemed knowledgeable about their proposed work and some of the process items. They did a good job promoting some of their signature items, like their heavily reinforced concrete foundation and the insulated garage doors. However, I found their demeanor a little off-putting for being custom builders. Basically the impression they gave reminded me of Henry Ford. To paraphrase: I could have it built any way I wanted, as long as it followed their stock designs. I asked for brick facing (to match my house) and was told that they don't do that and that I wouldn't want it anyway, because it would be hard to match and too expensive. They would build it with their siding, and I could just have it ripped off later if I decided to get the brick! I can't see myself paying to build something that I would immediately need to remodel. I asked for a metal roof and gutters, and again was told that they didn't do them and that I really didn't want them; afterall, if I had gutters, I'd have to do something with the water?!? FYI, I am aware that gutters aren't mystic vortexes that make water vanish into nothingness... Anyway, after being told that each item I requested that deviated from their stock design was unavailable and that I really didn't want it, I have to question why they have and quot;customand quot; in their name. So like I said initially, I can't see myself using them, but somebody who is content with their limited amount of customization might find them a good quality/value.

Every aspect of the job went smoothly, and every employee or sub was friendly and professional. We are very pleased with their work. The work was completed as agreed upon and for the price given upfront. Rainy weather provided a challenge, but the work was done as soon as the weather allowed. The company was also the interface with the city permitting process which we appreciated. Thank you for the excellent work, and the friendly people.

Very quick to respond to any issues or questions. Quality of work was fantastic. Finished on time and on budget. We would absolutely use them again!

They seemed very expensive and out of budget. They seemed to be pretty professional but I would not use them because of cost.

It was great! We have a two car garage!!! They came and dominated the earth around my house and forced a garage into being right where I wanted it! The guys were wonderful hard workers. Everyone who stops by is awed by how big and strong it looks. I am so pleased.

We reviewed their website and emailed their contact form. I called their office two days later and spoke with a female who said she had our form but needed to determine setback requirements since our house sits on a corner lot. She said she would call me back the following day. It has been over one week and I have not received any call. Based upon previous reviews and they are located less than 2 miles from our house, we really wanted to use this company. In addition, our house sits on nearly one acre lot so the required setbacks are not an issue.

The project took just a little over 3 weeks. The crew and materials were very well coordinated which accounted for such a quick finish time. First, the land where the garage was to be built had to be graded and a few bushes removed. Then the concrete form was setup and the monolithic slab poured. Within days the framing crew arrived and very quickly erected the 1 1/2 story frame in a matter of days. The siding went on, side door and windows installed. The roofer installed the roof all by himself in 1 day in 100 degree heat and did an excellent job. The garage doors and openers were installed. Caulking around the doors and where planks were cut was applied in almost all cases. We are pleased, overall, with the final product. However, we are not pleased with how some of the details of the project were handled. Specifically, we told the builders that we wanted a turn-key garage. We thought this meant door openers, wiring, paint and gutters as we were led to believe in our verbal conversation. Later we found this out to not be true. We had to pay extra for the door openers and will have to find our own painter, electrician, and gutter guy. In fairness, the proposal did indicate that these items were not included - but we did not read it carefully before signing because of the detailed conversation we had. At the end of the project, the inspector indicated that caulking needed to be completed in order to sign off on the inspection. The crew had done about 3/4 of the caulking. When I asked the contractor when he was going to finish the caulking he indicated that he wasn't going to finish it, that our painter would have to do that. I asked why he had done any at all and he indicated that he was and quot;doing us a favorand quot;. The contractor promised to deliver a finished garage in about 3 - 4 weeks that would pass final inspection. For the most part, this has taken place, but the work was not completed and the final inspection is pending our getting a painter to finish the job. Bottom line - these guys build a quality product, BUT be very careful to get EVERYTHING in writing to the most minor detail. Read your contract carefully because it may not line up 100% with any verbal conversation you might have. You may want to check around for a better price as well. We feel like we paid too much for an unwired, unpainted, and unguttered garage.

We met with Stu and Allen to discuss options for a garage/auxiliary building, and they came up with verbal quotes for different configurations. We decided what we wanted, signed an agreement, and they got started on the permitting process. In a couple of weeks, they sent a crew out to level the ground and dig footings. Within a few days, another crew came out to pour the monolithic slab. Then within a few more days, the carpenter crew was there, and within a couple of weeks the building was ready for final inspections. Allen oversaw the process and called to let us know what would be happening and when.They were careful not to limit access to the house. They all did an excellent job and were very courteous. We were extremely pleased with the job they did and with the final product.

My one and a half story 22x24 detached garage was recently built by Carolina Custom Builders. I'd been hearing their advertisements for years and after seeing a friend's garage they'd built and researching them on Angie's List I felt pretty confident in using them for this. After I contacted Carolina Custom Builders about this project Stu Daugherty and his brother Allan came over and we looked over the site and discussed options and pricing. The project began on Jan. 27 with cutting down and clearing 6 large pine trees and then grading where the garage was to be. We chose to have the wood hauled off and the stumps dug up and buried where they were. Fill dirt and and quot;crush and runand quot; were then brought in, the grading completed and forms for the slab built. On Feb. 2 concrete was poured and the slab made ready. One thing I should point out here is that Carolina Custom Builders is a family owned and run business and been in business together for many years in this area. Most of the people working on this project were members of the Daugherty extended family. Besides Stu and Allan I met their father, various nephews and cousins, relatives by marriage, etc. Even the people not actually related seemed more like family than employees. This is a tight company and everyone in it is involved and committed to excellence. On Feb. 3 trucks loaded with materials began to arrive and things were ready for framing to being on the following Monday after the concrete had cured enough. On Feb. 7 framing began and by the end of the next day the garage and been framed, sheathed, wrapped and the upstairs windows installed. On Feb. 9 roofing was completed. By Feb 13 siding had been installed, the two garage doors installed and the site cleaned up of all debris. The project took just about 3 weeks beginning to end (less weekends) and one of the senior Daugherty's were on site at least once a day to check on progress and be sure everything was done correctly and according to plan. Quality was excellent in every way. Except for the floor joists, which were prebuilt and massive, everything was stick built. The wood they used was really good quality and this garage is probably built stronger than my house. Communications with the Daugherty's were excellent and they were great to work with.The bottom line is that we are very happy with the new garage and the whole experience was positive from beginning to end. I can recommend Carolina Custom Builders without reservation.

I would recommend them to anyone. They helped me secure additional financing. Helped me find a bank to refinance our house to use some equity to help. Answered every call I made to them and got the job done when they said they would get it done. I have zero complaints. Both Stu and Alan really know how to make a customer happy.

I decided to go with them because they had done a neighbor's garage. I really liked their work and the quality. They offered a partial payment plan and they could start very quickly. They used very good materials, better than I had expected on some areas, so I was very impressed with the quality. I liked the quality, workmanship, and materials. They are very accommodating to your design needs. They have set plans that they go by to build garages, but you can give them suggestions or your own drawings and customizations you want to make and they will definitely incorporate those into the design. They are very good at communicating progress all along the way and they are very fast.

I had a few problems with the concrete not being properly laid. I thought the rest of the work was fair. It was nothing really excellent though. I was would not recommend this company to anyone.

They did a great job on the shed. It is just as I wanted it. I am very happy with the construction. They got the job done in a timely fashion. The workers were friendly. I thought the company was professional.

They did an excellent job of building our new garage. It looks really nice, and they were even able to get the same color siding that we had on our house. They got it done in about a week and a half and we really like it. The builders cleaned up every day and were very careful about making sure there wasn't anything for children to get hurt on out.

Our garage was done and ready to be used in three weeks. I am really impressed with how fast they were able to get it done. They matched the color of our house perfectly. All of the materials that they used were of the highest quality.

This seemed to us to be a well-organized and well-run company. Everyone we had contact with was professional and pleasant to deal with. Once the foundation was in place, the garage was up in about a week. We thought the price was fair, though we did not seek other estimates because this company was so highly recommended by others.

THIS WAS A GREAT COMPANY. THEY ARE VERY PRECISE, LIKE A WELL-OILED MACHINE. I NEVER SAW ANYONE JUST STANDING AROUND. THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN DONE IN LESS THAN A WEEK IF IT HADN'T BEEN FOR BAD WEATHER.
