I gave them 24 hours to call me back before I'd call another company, it's been my experience that if you have to keep calling and chasing someone to do their work then their not very reliable, needless to say they never called me back which was probably a good thing.

Greg responded quickly and was prompt and professional. He was able to quickly inspect and let me know the dryer was fixed, with the assurance of returning for any issues that might arise. And he was able to assess and provide follow-up options and pricing for the dishwasher. I ended up choosing to replace rather than repair and he was very accommodating accordingly. Clearly he has experience and takes pride in his company, his work and his customers!

Clint made two trips to my home, one to diagnose the problem and one to replace a part. He was very courteous, knowledgeable and professional. Unfortunately, the new part did not fix the problem and further parts replacement on an appliance of this age would not have been prudent. I decided to replace rather than repair the dishwasher.

Very well. Clint and Greg showed up right on time. They worked together very well to get the job done quickly and professionally. They were both very friendly to me and my teenage children. I am completely satisfied with the job they did and would definitely hire them again.

Horrible! After replacing my ice maker with two new systems, it still did not resolve the problem. After 6 visits, he determined that I had a "seal" problem and it would be cheaper to purchase a new refrigerator. I would have to wait a couple of days in between those 6 visits for him to order a part or before he was available to come. In all, this nightmare dragged on for 2 weeks and I ultimately lost ALL my food. I had another person I found online come out and give me a second opinion. After 15 minutes he diagnosed the problem (Freon leak) and fixed it. Capital did give me back the $125 I paid for a new ice maker but still charged $80 for a service call. I incurred the additional cost of having to pay a second repairman. Although the repairman was very nice and punctual, he clearly didn't know what he was doing.

From the start the serviceman was gruff & short. Wanting to judge him on his ability to fix my washer, I made an appt. After a few negative comments on all my Samsung appliances he quickly made the diagnosis. The part would have to be ordered so we set a follow-up appt. The morning of that appt. he called to say the part place didn't know how to read their computer because they had given him bad information. Consequently they did not have the right part. Of course he explained Samsung was to blame as well for not having support for their products or having my model number in totality appear on their product listing. So we set another appt. When he arrived for he gruffly told me how he had been dreading coming back out here to do the repair. He almost violently pulled out the soap dispenser spilling soapy water all down the front of the washer. He called to me for a bucket then told me he needed it QUICKLY. Then of course the part he had gotten after the first wrong part was still the wrong part. This did not make him happy & clearly it was my fault for owning this washer which fell into no man's land on the model number list. Having to use my phone because of a weak cell signal (we live out in the county a bit) he rudely informed the parts people they had once again sold him the wrong part & he was on "this lady's phone because he was way out in the boonies". We set another appt for him to come back. He said he would come back because he wanted to get paid. I took this to mean as opposed to completing the job & doing me right after 3 failed attempts. In the mean time I discussed his rudeness with my husband & decided not to have the work completed by this company. If you want multiple failed attempts, multiple appoints & plenty of rudeness, then this is your appliance repair company. But I'll get someone else.

Over the phone, we determined that it would be near impossible to get any parts for the oven that I have. The gentleman was very knowledgeable and honest; I appreciate his trouble shooting the issue over the phone and saving me wasted money and time on what would most likely have been a futile service call. I will call them again when I have a problem!

Before you hire anyone on Angie's List, don't just go by the "A" rating. Be sure to check both the positive AND negative ratings (in this case, 18 "F" ratings, yet still an "A" overall?), also actually read some recent reviews and the owner responses. Also compare to outside ratings (e.g. Yelp). I should have done my homework ahead of time. Some of the reviews seem fake (my opinion). The owner's responses to complaints are not always nice. Even his answering system gives a clue. It's anonymous. Doesn't even say the company name. No "Thank you for calling CAP..." I thought I had called the wrong number, but then a guy called me back hours later using caller ID, and said "Hey, did you call me?" This happened twice. Who does that? The repairman who showed up an hour late (didn't apologize) didn't even have a single tool. He said his bag was too heavy...left his tools in the car (if he even had tools). Not a good sign. He asked to borrow my flashlight. Nice guy, but didn't instill confidence. He also had no way to look up parts using his phone. Extremely inefficient. I subsequently hired someone else who answered his phone professionally, was available the next day, showed up on time, brought his own tools, had a tablet with fast parts lookup, had realistic reviews, and fixed the problem.

I'm sorry we didn't meet your expectations, but the suggestion that my reviews are fake is #1 ridiculous and #2 malicious. How exactly would one go about faking an Angie's List review? But I take your point. Lord knows we are not perfect, and this can be a frustrating business (as are many). We are often times dealing with very frustrated people who depend on their appliances and they sometimes take their frustrations out on us. Plus there are many factors involved in good service that are beyond our control (such as accessing parts) and that sometime adds to the frustration. The thing is we are doing our job in our customer's home. Unlike say, an auto mechanic who does his/her job in a garage with all the tools etc. at hand and out of earshot of the customer (ever hear a mechanic swear?) we are front and center. But if I'm understanding you correctly you'd probably be more comfortable with a bigger company. That is certainly not us. We are a mom and pop. We can't afford tablets with parts databases, but then again we don't charge $160.00 just to show up and knock on your door (we charge $80 plus retail on the part). We guarantee our work and offer a LIFETIME WARRANTY on most parts. If a customer is dissatisfied I make every effort to find the problem and satisfy them. I am a phone call away. So Ms. [Member Name Removed], I appreciate your feedback and only wish you had called me directly. And BTY, I sometimes call customers on my personal cell phone WHICH IS NOT MY BUSINESS NUMBER. If you got an anonymous message you called the wrong number. Your suggestion this is somehow evidence of nefarious, underhanded, 'up to no good' dealings is ludicrous.

I explained the symptoms of my dryer problems to both the dispatcher when I called and the technician when he arrived. Dryer initially would stop spinning and would not start back for a period of time, then just stopped heating completely as well. Both the dispatcher and the technician chose to ignore the "stop spinning" and concentrate on the "not heating." So the technician replaced the heating element, then finally heard what I had been telling him about my dryer's symptoms. Then actually stopped our discussion until I signed the receipt. Then informed me that I likely had a bad motor or a bad timer, which would be a ~ $250 - $350 repair. The professional, correct thing to do would have been to offer to remove the heat element and allow me to just pay for the service call. However, this technician chose to withhold information until I signed a receipt (I had already paid, so I am not sure what his goal there was). This could have easily been avoided by listening to the customer. To be fair, they were quick to fit me in, showed up on time, and made the repair they made quickly. However, their inability to listen and correctly diagnose the complete problem, as well as the business with the receipt made for a very bad overall experience.

I recommended you buy a new microwave based on the age, which I recall you said was 12 years. Since the average life of a microwave oven is 10-12 it's reasonable to recommend replacement. When you (several minutes into the conversation) indicated its a combo, I told you quite accurately a repair was preferable based on replacement cost. I told you repeatedly I don't work on microwaves but I can tell you don't like hearing the word no. I tried to give you good advise and was repaid with derision and ridicule. You sir are a 2%er, the two percent that nobody wants to do business with. As you can see I have a good reputation and I hope those who read this will see BOTH of us for who we are.

So what's the problem? I stopped working on microwaves. Plus I am certainly not familiar Dacor microwaves. I repeat here in writing, we do not work on microwaves. The information I gave you was completely accurate and honest and confirmed by "your guy". So if I understand correctly you are upset that I told you the truth? I couldn't help you but I gave you the best advise I could and you wish to damage my business as a result? A business which I have busted my butt to build for twenty long years? Furthermore If I recall I advised you to buy new because you just spent $130.00 bucks for a $2.00 switch on a 12 year old microwave that by definition is worn out when a new appliance can be had for $200. And I further recall you said it was a combo wall unit in which case there was no choice but to repair and I advised you to call around as I DO NOT WORK ON MICROWAVES!! Please take down this unjust and slanderous review. I gave you good information in good faith and you have no reason whatsoever to be upset with me. In fact, with all due respect you're being a jerk.

I would highly recommend Capital Appliance Repair. After trying to fix our dryer several times, we finally decided to call someone. I found Capital Appliance Repair on Angie's List and called them because they had great reviews. They were able to come out the same day and fix my dryer. The technician was very professional and explained exactly what was wrong and how he fixed it. He had to go get one part, but came right back and installed it. He even explained something else on our dryer to help us with another issue. And their prices were very reasonable. Overall, a great experience with them.

I called on a Tuesday evening at 5:00 and immediately reached the owner who was very personable. After a short description of the problem, he pretty much diagnosed the problem right then and there. I gave the dishwasher brand and model number to him so they could arrive with the appropriate parts. Scott came out the very next morning at 11:00. He called a short time before his arrival to let me know he would be there shortly which I appreciated because I needed to secure the dog. He turned on our machine to take a listen, ruled out another possible problem and then replaced the fill valve. He explained everything as he worked and left everthing tidy. We received our 10% Angie's List discount off the service fee. He was a nice guy and everything went smoothly. We would call this company again for any problems we need help with in the future.

It went extremely well. When we called Cary Discount & Capital Appliance Repair, formerly known as 'Capital Appliance Repair', a number of different companies were reviewed and I settled on this one, based on the quantity of ratings, high customer satisfaction, and the variety of reviews/ types of repairs. We called the service provider after checking on Angie's List for a large appliance repair person. We have had a number of different repair people over the years because we have lived in our home for 19 years. Our appliances were replaced 11 years ago, so they have all served us very well. Our clothes washer stopped spinning Monday night. Since we had been having problems with our stove for awhile, it was time for both of them to be repaired. The repair company was informed of the brand of the appliances and the year they were built, along with the issues at hand. That way, they would more likely have the parts with them, if they knew what to expect and anticipate. I also informed them it was a gas stove because some repair people don't like to work on gas stoves or have the knowledge required. We were told they had a few people specifically trained to work on gas stoves along with the clothes washer. The time was set for between 10-11AM Wed.. Clint arrived @10:15 and immediately went to work on the stove, with the end of a paper clip to clean out the orifices in all the burners. Once I saw how and what he did, I knew I could repair it myself if the burners had a problem again, which is nice to know. The last time someone had worked on the stove, they had ruined the screws holding the burners in place. Not this time. It was an easy fix. He checked all the burners to ensure they all fired off and burned evenly. Next Clint went to work on our clothes washer. He turned the washer on to determine the noise, immediately knew what the problem was from the sound and removed the washer cover. He pulled the washer apart as much as was needed. He went out to his truck, brought in the part and repaired it, quickly. Then he checked the interior of the basket and discovered the agitator was also broken. It turned freely in both directions, which meant the control mechanism of the agitator was broken on the bottom. Something I was not even aware of. Clint told me he always checks the agitator when he's called out for a clothes washer, because the agitation is often defective. He again went out his truck, got the part, and pulled the agitator mechanism out and pulled it apart. He replaced the part, showed me what it was and explained how it works. Who knows how long it had been broken. He took the time to explain to me how it works to clean/agitate the clothes, so everything gets properly cleaned, not just the clothes on the bottom. I also asked him about a couple of issues I had with my dishwasher and how much it would cost to repair that. He called up the parts store, gave them the serial number and asked about the parts. I was looking at between $250-$350 to repair/replace a couple of items, which was more trouble and cost more than it was worth. I told him to let it go. I could live with it. These were minor. I asked if the advertised 10% discount on their website applied and he said sure and took $8.00 off the bill. The whole repair took no more than 30 minutes and he had written up the bill, been paid, gave us a receipt, thanked us for our business and he was gone. All in all, what ever the 'problem' another reviewer had with Clint, I had NONE. He was efficient, timely in his arrival, quickly diagnosed and repaired both appliances. If all my home repairs go as quickly and inexpensively as this one did, I will continue to be a VERY HAPPY HOME OWNER! Cary Discount & Capital Appliance Repair will continue to be my "go to" large appliance repair people in the future! Many thanks!!
