Description of Work: Had a hard time finding someone who would repair a Samsung washing machine. The pump was clogged and close to being burnt out, so we decided to go ahead and pay for a replacement pump. They were very responsive, and got someone here right away, which was wonderful!

Description of Work: I called Capital Appliance Repair when my three year-old LG front loading washer developed a minor leak. When the repairman came out he found a small hole in the rubber gasket that seals the door with the washer. He said it would be $80 plus the part to repair. He called his distributor for the part and was told it would take two weeks to arrive. I searched the internet and found the part with next day delivery. I ordered it and we made appointment for two days later. He said since I was supplying the part he would have to raise the price to $110. I needed the washing machine before the weekend so I reluctantly accepted the surprise price change. We set the appointment timeframe for Friday between noon and 2PM. | |On Friday he called around 2PM asking if I was ready for him to come out. I told him he had already missed our appointment time, but that he should come as soon as possible. He arrived about an hour after the end of the appointment window. He honestly looked like he had just crawled out of bed. | |He started by asking if I had a chair he could use so he could sit while making the repair. The only chair that worked for the situation was an office chair that I carried down from upstairs. I happened to be meeting at the time with a business leader from a major local company. My colleague told me he thought it was odd that the repairman didn't travel with the fold-up chair or stool he needed. A few minutes later the repairman asked if I had needle nose pliers. I gave him a pair, and my colleague questioned whether this repairman was a professional. | |Then we heard a lot of cussing and banging coming from the laundry room. My colleague suggested we might want to check things out. When we did, the repairman had his arms around the washing machine, which is on a pedestal, and was banging it around to move it. I asked if anything was wrong and he started talking about " Korean appliance makers". At that point I wish I had told him to leave. | |He then continued to complain loudly and grunt for the next few minutes while he put on the new gasket. He came and told me he was done, while continuing to complain about LG appliances. I went to check and the washer was about a foot away from it's original position. I asked him to move it back. After he did so, he couldn't remember what price he had quoted (I guess that's the result of hiking prices on the fly). He again complained about Korean appliances and said this was one of the hardest repairs he had ever done. The entire repair took him about 25 minutes, so I have a hard time imagining how it could be among the hardest he'd ever done. My colleague and I were very glad to see him leave. | |When I next used the washing machine it started knocking against the tile floor and I realized the repairman had not leveled the machine. Even a non-mechanical person like me knows that leveling a washing machine is appliance installation 101. (The original installer made a big deal about the need to level it, and talked about the damage that could be done to the floor if the machine wasn't level.) I stopped the machine and placed a folded piece of sheet rubber under one of the legs, which is still there. | |I then later noticed that the rubber grip on the detergent dispenser drawer was wet to my fingers. I figured that some water had gotten in it during the repair and that it would dry out quickly. It never dried out, so what must have happened is that the violent banging of the machine resulted in a crack or some other damage to the dispenser drawer. There had been no issue with this drawer prior to the repair. | |I sent an email to the owner of the company and never got a reply. At the very least, the company needs to come out and level the machine and put in a new detergent dispenser drawer. I'm just hoping that the repairman didn't cause any long-term damage from violently banging the machine around. | |While I realize that banging around a machine is somewhat subjective, I have a highly credible witness who can vouch that this out-of-control activity took place. The company will need to send out a different repairman, as I am not willing to ever have that repairman in my home or near my appliances again. They will also need to at least refund the $30 surprise charge. | |I'll update this review after Capital Appliance Repair has taken the necessary actions.

Description of Work: Capital Appliance Repair was able to fix our finicky Bosch dishwasher and replace our GE icemaker in one trip, saving us a service fee. They were prompt, responsive and reasonably priced. We will definitely use them again.

Description of Work: The service tech could not/ would not turn off the water at the back of the refrigerator. That cost me an additional amount of $125.00 for a plumber to come out and close the valve. My wife was the only person home at the time and followed the service tech's advice and called a plumber.It appears that the problem we were having was caused by a frozen water line at the bottom of the freezer. We also received and paid for a new Filter head. Whether or not that we needed it

Description of Work: They identified a component of my ice maker that had broken. They didn't have the part on the truck with them, but they were back out within a couple of days with the part and fixed the problem. The technician was very helpful and provided insight into what had gone wrong and needed to be fixed.
