Description of Work: Spoke to Robert on the phone who wasn't sure if the issue was dryer-related or electrical-related after my description on the phone. He gave me a number of options to consider before having him come out. I appreciated his honesty and consideration for my not spending money to have him come out and pay for an estimate if it wasn't necessary. If I do need repair, I'll definitely give them a call.

Description of Work: My older refrigerator in my garage was not working properly & before i would have to replace it, I tried calling for a repair job. When I called, I thought I would have to wait, but instead a very nice gentleman said he could have someone the same day(yesterday).The repairman Lynn Hoffman came as scheduled, on time & was wonderful to deal with. He checked & said it was a minor repair & that he would have the part the next day (today) Lynn came as promised, calling me to advise of the time & he was here as promised.He very efficiently replaced the broken part & showed me how to regulate the temperature for the freezer & refrigerator which I never knew be- fore. He also said if there were any problems to call even if it was a Sunday & he would be back the following day. It was a pleasure dealing with him.He knew his business & went about it in a very professional way. I certainly would recommend this Company to anyone. He left me a very happy customer & I don't have to buy a new refrigerator.

Description of Work: I called another business 3 times yesterday and once this morning that was on Angies List and no one returned my call. My dryer broke two days ago so I looked over Angie's List again and decided to call Capital Appliance Repair. Someone answered the phone promptly and said someone would be there shortly. Lynn came and promptly fixed the dryer with minimum charge. And he was so pleasant and friendly. I was elated! the last company I called to fix my washer charged me for mileage plus the service call for 2 min worth of work. It cost me almost $200 from the previous company.I thought that charge was excessive and outrageous. I will definitely call Capital Repair and will recommend them to others.

Description of Work: I called for service to my dryer on 1/02/2013 and asked for an appt which was accommodated the following late afternoon. They seemed very nice, eager, knew where my house was located. My daughter arranged to leave work early to be there but called me at work to say the serviceman had not arrived 45 minutes into his allotted time nor had he called her. Approximately 10 to 20 minutes after the allotted time he called to apologeize, that he had run behind in his former appt and would be there in 15 minutes. Needless to say I was disappointed. I realize jobs can run over in time. This is an unknown in their business. I do though feel a call to let me know that they will be running late is courteous as I have things to do, appts of my own as well as my family. I would gladly have tried to rearrange this without being upset, instead happy they called to let me know.

Description of Work: This company advertises they service Thermador ovens and I called and confirmed prior to making an appointment. The service tech (Sid) walked in to house stated that "he hates working on these ovens" and after 30 seconds stated he "thought" it was the control panel and would check on the part and get back to me. I told him I needed to know one way or another and he "promised" to call me back. He asked for the 75.00 service fee but said he would only cash the check if he was able to find the part since he was only at our house for a matter of minutes and stopped on his way home. I never heard back from him and nearly 6 weeks later my check was cashed. I called the office and they stated the owner would call me back at that my check should not have been cashed. I never heard back from anyone and have not been refunded the fee. Very disappointed in this company and would not and will not recommend to anyone.

Description of Work: Laundry dryer had stopped working. Came on same day as called, diagnosed problem as a defective switch. Returned next day with new part, installed it. Also adjusted dryer door to open in more convenient direction and made minor adjustment to failed detent on refrigerator door.

Description of Work: Went to put a fresh load of clothes in the dryer only to find I had no heat. Checked the usual stuff -vents, fuses etc. - still nothing. Well, the dryer is 6 years old (Kenmore) so I half expected a problem sooner or later. Checked Angie's List and found this company. I called and was advised that they could be here in about 2 hours which was great. The tech called me before he arrived to give me his eta. He showed up on time. Checked the dryer and it was the heating coil. He had the part in his truck and I was up and running in 30min. The tech answered my questions, was friendly and professional. What more can you ask. I found the price reasonable; I had checked the price of the heating coil on line before I made the call to them figuring it was probably that or the thermostat. The price they charged for the part was right on the money. I consider the $75 charge to come out reasonable, it's probably cheaper than an emergency visit after I electrocuted myself. LOL I would recommend them to a friend and I plan to keep their name handy.

Description of Work: I called ISC,Inc. dba Cary Discount & Capital Appliance Repair because our refrigerator/ freezer went out , of course after hours. We had a working freezer in the basement so we transferred all food to that freezer. I didn't think about calling anyone until later. The owner was courteous, asking questions about what kind of freezer etc. Since we had taken care of the problem temporarily he asked me to call at 8am the next morning. I did and mid - morning Clint arrived with his name on his shirt and a smile on his face. In two minutes he solved the problem and in 15 minutes he had pulled out the refrigerator, put in the new part, put the frig back, gave me the discount and was on his way with another big smile. Definitely will use them again!

Description of Work: They have been great! I have called them twice - once for my washer and once for my drier. they don't try to waste your money like some other repair people. They came in and immediately fixed my washer. they also came in and immediately decided that my drier issue was not a drier issue but a vent issue. they only charged my half of their normal visit rate, since it was not an issue they could fix. They gave me the name of someone to call and that repair person came out the same day.

Description of Work: 1. A week or two ago, our Washing machine quit running. When my wife called Capital, Sid suggested she first unplug then replug the machine. BINGO. The unit has been working fine-! Instant gratification for zero cost-! 2. Yesterday, the Ice-cube maker in our Refrigerator-Freezer quit working. Sid came out in 3-4 hours and diagnosed a broken heating element. The fix: a new ice-cube maker, Cost est: $300 incl installation. We agreed to the repair. However, before he left, Sid took out the problem unit and found a blockage that was causing the problem. BINGO. The unit is working perfectly-! Cost: Just the service call for $75 - saving us $225. Total time spent at our house: 15-20 min. Guess who we're going to call for ALL of our future appliance repairs-?!!

Description of Work: Very pleased with their service. I called them at 8:30 in the morning to fix my washing machine and someone was here by early afternoon that same day. Technician was professional, courteous and figured out what had gone on with the washing machine in no time. Price was reasonable. I would definitely have them come out for appliance repair again.

Description of Work: The icemaker on our 9 year old refrigerator had not been working for several years. Then the refrigerator started to periodically flood on the inside under the vegetable bin and required sponging. Owner answered the phone. I told him what was wrong and he told me exactly what he thought it was and that the cost would be the trip charge plus the cost of parts, and he knew how much the parts cost. This was different from every other company where the person answering the phone knew nothing about refrigerators and "of course we can't really give you an estimate until we see the problem but we can send a technician out for a $70.00 trip charge and he can diagnose the problem", which is not an estimate at all but an exhorbitant charge for an estimate.. Capital Appliance Repair scheduled the work to be done exactly when I needed it and the repairman was extremely knowledgable and even taught refrigerator repair at a community college. He explained that we had two separate problems, neither of which required a part. He fixed both problems--the ice maker had become unplugged and the drain hole had frozen solid forcing water to come out of the air flow hole into the refrigerator. He told us how to fix it again if it every happened again. He was here for over an hour waiting for the drain hole to defrost but the total charge for the visit was just the trip charge because no parts were involved. I LOVE THESE GUYS. THEY'RE GREAT!
