In a word, fantastic. In a process that took over a year for me to concede that it was truly time to replace our old unit, ductwork and all, I began using this company to service the old unit and another, downstairs unit. Beginning this business relationship with the maintenance and service, I became more and more impressed with how this company does its business on a day to day basis. A few weeks ago, it was obvious that we needed to replace the old system, so I contacted Mr. Robert Deese to give me some preliminary information on the specifications of various systems. Then, we (my wife and I) invited Mr. Deese to visit our home to assess what would fit our needs. I'm a retired Army Sergeant Major, and I'm picky about all the details of a business decision...and I prepared an entire sheet of questions to ask Mr. Deese before he arrived. Well, Mr. Deese answered them all. In fact, I probably asked the same questions three different ways...and Mr. Deese answered them all. Then, I asked him even more questions about their install crews and how they go about doing their business inside our home. I will tell you that Mr. Deese, the install crews, and everyone associated with this company are awesome. The crew took apart our old "dinosaur" of a unit in our upstairs attic and installed this beautiful, new 18 SEER Trane system in less than two days. I was astounded. Plus, these are some of the nicest folks that I've ever done business with. Superb, and highly professional. All of them. The unit itself is very, very quiet when it runs. Outside, it sits on a sturdy base, and I never hear it when it comes on. The bottom line is that there is a reason that this company sits atop the Angie's List rankings with overwhelming numbers of folks who are satisfied customers. Lastly, I thank Mr. Deese for setting everything up - and I thank the installers Eric, Tony, and Edgar for a job well done. Much appreciation! Anyone can contact me if they need me to explain, further, what a great company this is. Cape Fear Air Conditioning and Heating is this area's best in my humble opinion!

I called the Cape Fear Air Conditioning & Heating's Fayetteville location last Thursday and the person who answered the phone and scheduled the appointment was nice, and thankfully was able to get a technician scheduled to come out the next afternoon. The technician, Jeff, arrived on time, was professional, and was very nice. The technician was A+ and I would highly recommend Cape Fear A/C & Heating. When Spring arrived no CAPE FEAR, so last week called office at 919-322-2000 after some delay was advised that they were having system problems. Based on no service requested refund of my $355 +the double payment made thru' you. As I refused to give my CC number over cell phone requested a check. To date I have received no money would please contact for us and report to BBB.

We called the morning of Good Friday on a holiday. They were there in about 1 hour and had diagnosed and solved the issue. My unit needed 3 lbs of refrigerant. They let me know of issues that I might experience in the future but did not try to force me to repair them and recommended I wait since the unit was older.

Very responsive to request for repair and technician explained problem clearly and outlined options. Excellent experience with Cape Fear Heating & Air. Highly recommend. Update: This is an update to my 04/04/2017 review. On 03/01/2017 Cape Fear completed our A/C maintenance using an Angie’s List deal. We had used them in the past and we’re very impressed with their response & service and highly recommended the company to friends and co-workers. On 03/22/2017 when our system needed a repair, the Cape Fear technician recommended that we get a Service Agreement to cover our next two maintenance services. Eddie made the point that because we had just done our Spring 2017 maintenance (paid for via Angie’s List) the contract would cover the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 services. He made a point of writing this on the Service Agreement that we signed so that there would be no confusion about what the agreement covered. (See attached). At the end of May 2017 my husband’s caregiver (my husband is disabled) who handles calls during the day, informed me that Cape Fear had called indicating that they needed to come out again. On 05/31/2017 another technician came & said that we had major problem with mold in the condenser compartment. I expressed surprise because this was not mentioned when we had had the unit maintained just 60 days prior. Brandon said that we definitely needed to install two UV lights for a cost of $2106 ASAP. I initially agreed because I assumed that this was a problem they were finding with A/C units and was the reason they had come again so soon. But because estimated the cost was so high, I got a second opinion from another company which confirmed that there was indeed a mold problem and we had a UV light installed with them as their quote was half the cost of Cape Fear’s. On 09/18/2017 Cape Fear performed our furnace maintenance under the Service Agreement. At the beginning of March 2018, we received a message from Cape Fear saying it was time for our annual A/C maintenance. I contacted them to set up an appointment and reminded them that this should be covered as part of our service agreement. The receptionist said that she would confirm this. The following week the receptionist called to confirm the appointment and said that we would be charged $177. I immediately called back to explain our agreement and give her the invoice number that shows that our contract was for Fall 2017 and Spring 2018. She said that this was not correct and that the surprise 05/31/2017 service was our annual Spring maintenance. I tried to explain that this did not make sense as Cape Fear had just completed the Spring 2017 A/C maintenance on 03/01/2017. I asked her to consult with Eddie and Cape Fear management and ask them to review the Invoice to confirm what I was telling her. She called back to say that they had reviewed my Service Agreement and that it did not cover our Spring 2018 maintenance and that we would be charged $177. I declined at this point. In hindsight, I believe that Cape Fear mistakenly sent someone to do a second Spring 2017 maintenance just 60 days after they had already done this work and is now claiming that this meets the terms of their agreement. So, despite the original technician’s reassurances and documenting that the agreement covered Fall 2017 and Spring 2018, Cape Fear insists that they have provided the maintenance services agreed to. So, I would not recommend that anyone sign a contract with Cape Fear. When they became aware of their error, instead of apologizing for the subsequent mix up and honoring the documented intent of their contract, they are refusing to follow through.
Description of Work: Routine service showed problem with condensate pump and blower capacitor. Service performed and company responded immediately when additional work needed.

We first just were just looking at replacing the ac unit but once looked at by the cape fear team, we conclusively decided to replace 27 year old furnaces as well to more energy efficient units. Cape fear team all around was very knowledgeable and professional. Sales rep justin was also informative and quick to respond to any questions along the way. Prices were also best around and the work was done great. Cape Fear All around punctual, honest and professional team. Would certainly use again.

I was a little disappointed that they didn't tell there was another coupon available towards the purchase of the actual repair and so I think they use it but I think I ended up paying more than if I hadn't used it. Scheduling was easy their very good most of the time I help to save more with the nineteen dollar purchase but it didn't work out at all they came for a diagnostic but they ended up pushing a button on the machine to turn it back on apparently had a safety switch of some sort that had kicked in so because they ended up pushing a button they repaired it and so it was no longer diagnostics service call but a repair service and so for the repair which was pushing the button I was charged ninety nine dollars which would have been same thing has the diagnostic call if they hadn't push that button. They didn't make any effort to work with me to try to save me any money even though all they had to do was push a button to turn it on so I felt a little taken advantage of by the whole situation but so that's how they make money.

I am an existing customer of this company. I had an entirely new hvac unit installed 1 year ago by them. I was now returning to hire them to replace all the duct woork. The day of job did not go well. I was told they were on the way to my home and would arrive at 8:30. I rearranged my schedule to be there. One worker showed up at 9:15 but did not have any supplies to start the work. A second worker arrived at 9:45. As we walked the home I explained the scope of work and they seemed inexperienced and confused as to how to perform the removal and seal the system. I was told they were waiting on a 3rd person, the supervisor to arrive with the supplies so they cold begin working. The supervisor showed up at 10:30 and did not come speak to me directly. I hadt to approach him. After doing so I asked why the work was still not started 2 hours after I was told it would be. He said two words only: "I'm sorry." I expressed my frustration and concern for the lack of punctuality and professionalism. He didn't respond. At that point I realized this was not a company I had faith in to complete this job and asked them to leave my home and I would not be moving forward based on this. The supervisor, David, did not try to earn my business and simply said "ok, have a good day" and walked out. This job was going to cost $3500.00 and I did not trust them with this level based on their behavior before beginning.

Technician troubleshot unit and found the fan motor to be defective. He had to spin fan by hand to get it to turn. He also said the inducer motor bearings were noisy. He gave me a price of over $2000 to replace blower motor and inducer assembly. Unit is 23 year old Lennox so we discussed installing a new unit. Salesman came later that day and gave me estimates on several options. I came to my senses the next day and oiled the blower motor through both ports and thought about purchasing the inducer assembly and changing it myself. The unit is working fine and the inducer motor has even quieted down. I am thankful for Cape Fears assistance, but that is a lot of mark up.
Description of Work: Gas package unit was intermittently shutting off during heat cycle. I had already eliminated the ignition module,fan limit switch and thermostat. I wanted confirmation it was the blower fan motor.

Service technician (Steve) spent well over an hour looking over the system. He performed the tune-up, and gave me a write-up that explained everything he found. The list included a couple of recommended items that I should keep an eye on. Honestly, I was expecting a hard sell on lots of problems found. Instead, I feel I received a true analysis on a 12 year old furnace, with no extra sales pitch. I will certainly call Cape Fear A/C & Heating again.

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! I contacted Cape Fear AC & Heating through Angie's List. Their $39 Furnace Tuneup and Cleaning Special was too good to pass up. The technicians arrived on time. (In fact they called to see if they could arrive 3 hours early due to an opening. Of course I accepted). Both technicians were polite, very protective of my home (wore shoe covers upon entry) and were very diligent in performing their duties. I've used Cape Fear AC & Heating in the past and have always been impressed with their professionalism and attention to detail and would never consider calling anyone else. They are FANTASTIC!
