Bartlett Tree Experts

I have not used Bartlett for tree removal, but I did hire them for pest control services, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend them. I discussed the issues on my 1.2-acre property with Bryan, our service manager, and chose Bartlett because of their perceived expertise. I expected that, when they came to my property, they would identify and address not only the problems I had already noticed but also any other issues that might not have been immediately apparent. Unfortunately, this was far from the case. The technician needed me to point out the trees I had already specified to Bryan, and even then, they failed to identify or treat other clear issues on my property. If I hadn’t been present on the day of the treatment, none of the problems would have been addressed, as Bryan had not effectively communicated even the most obvious concerns to the technician. Following this disappointing experience, I hoped they would return to treat the remaining issues, such as my sick magnolia trees. However, instead of offering to “make things right,” they ignored my concerns, and the problems were never resolved. Despite my repeated follow-ups with Bryan over the following months, my requests to address these issues were consistently brushed off. Now, I have received the full invoice for the work, even though I tried to get them to reduce the charges due to the poor service. Their response, as before, was silence—they continued to send the full invoice without addressing my complaints. I cannot recommend Bartlett for pest control services. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

I am writing because of the carelessness of Bartlett Tree Experts of Raleigh that endangered the lives of my cat and my neighbors’ two cats and the songbirds that I feed. I am a veterinarian, and I don’t want this to happen to any other animals. My Rhododendron bushes became infected with black vine weevils last year. I asked Bartlett Tree Service to spray them with pyrethrins. They said that it would take a few treatments, and they gave me dates around the time that the bushes should be treated. I told them that the treatment dates would need to be scheduled with me in advance, because I have an outdoor cat and my neighbors have 2 outdoor cats that spend much time lounging underneath the bushes. All of the cats would need to be brought inside prior to spraying and kept inside until the pyrethrins dried as pyrethrins are toxic to cats, causing muscle fasciculations, tremors, seizures, and death. In addition, there are 5 bird feeders between two of the bushes and a bird house between two of the bushes. These would need to be covered prior to spraying. April 9, 2024 was the date that Bartlett Tree Experts had said would be around the time that the bushes would need to be sprayed. On April 5, 2024, I saw two Bartlett Tree technicians walking up my driveway with sprayers. I went out, and they said that they were coming to spray. I told them that I had told Bartlett Tree Experts that spraying would have to be scheduled in advance so that I could prepare to protect the cats and the birds. I called the Raleigh office after they left and stated this again. They said that someone would contact me to schedule. No one did. On April 18, 2024 I had just finished bathing my mother and walked into the kitchen and saw a Bartlett Tree technician with a sprayer walking down the driveway towards his truck. I stopped him and asked if he had sprayed. He said that he had. I told him that my agreement with Bartlett Tree was that no one would come out to spray unless it was scheduled in advance. He said that he rang the doorbell, and no one answered. My doorbell doesn’t work and even if it did, I would not have been able to leave my mother in the middle of a bath. So, my bushes were sprayed, endangering the lives of 3 cats and many songbirds. I called the Raleigh office and informed them. The manager called me and said that I was supposed to get an email 24 hours in advance. I did not either of the two times that technicians came out. He said that it was not their intention to endanger the life of my cats. The intention is no excuse for the carelessness and the potential harm that was done. I will not use Bartlett Tree Experts again, because I value the life of my cat, my neighbors’ cats, and the songbirds. I cannot recommend that others use their services as well. I was very pleased with this company. I had a concern about a large, diseased pine tree, and Robert Day, the arborist, met with me to discuss this issue and thoroughly inspected my property and discovered a few other potential threats. He was extremely knowledgeable and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need, giving me a few tips along the way. The guys that showed up to do the work were very professional, neat, and careful. I knew from the second that they arrived, that my property was in good hands. They talked with me to make sure that everything would be done to my liking, and cleaned up so well at the end that you wouldn't know that they had even been there. I even received a phone call a week or so later, making sure that I was happy with the service that I received. I've used cheaper services in the past, but this was a perfect example of getting what you pay for, and in the future, I will definitely be using Bartlett Tree Experts again!

We've been very happy with them. They are expensive but we've compared with others and they are approximately the same unless you get an independent person who may or may not have the amount of insurance or backing they might need in case of an accident. They've done excellent work for us, and we've been very pleased with the results and felt the price was very competitive. I would use them again and they've been very easy. They are excellent in terms of meeting your needs. I think they did a great job. They cleaned up excellent. They are so careful. They lower branches down instead of letting them drop. There wasn't a leaf left or sawdust.

We had a wonderful experience with Bartlett Tree Experts! Andrew came out for a thorough quote, and the work was scheduled for shortly afterward. All of the work was extremely well done, fairly priced, and each of the team members were very professional. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bartlett to others, or to have them come back in the future!

Steve came out and walked with me to identify the trees that needed to have limbs removed. That same afternoon he emailed me the estimate and contract. I agreed and returned signed contact and he emailed me the next morning saying they had a slot that day.. I agreed and they arrived on time completed the job and cleaned up and removed all limbs. It made a big difference in the amount of light we get and the benefit of limbs not damaging the roof.

Mainly they'll come out when one of my trees is starting to not look as healthy. They come out and take samples in a way that they can say it is this particular whether it's this particular pest that is invading or this particular fungus. Then they treat it specifically for that. When it's another company, they come out and do a general spray, but some of the trees still died anyway because they didn't specifically find out what was the thing that was affecting that particular tree. So we rate Bartlett very high. They're a little more expensive than the other company, but they have actually college degrees on how to inspect and treat trees, bushes and shrubs.

They did a fine job and they did more than they were committed to do. There were already sticks and leaves on our deck. They picked them up and didn't just blow in our back yard. We had to leave while they were here. They helped to figure what was wrong with the lift on our van. They did everything they could think of to help us. When we got back, they had blown off the front porch and walkway which wasn't part of the contract. They did what they were supposed to do, were prompt and did a very good job!

The service cost more than I was willing to pay. All of the tree services are to me quite expensive. I suppose for what they did they are kind of in line with other services. They came out after an ice storm.They were extremely professional and absolutely knew what they were doing. The did excellent work. They came when they said they would. They were very punctual.

Heard about Bartlett Tree Service on WPTF's Weekend Gardner show. We liked the idea that they were arborist. We wanted to thin and raise the lower level of the oak and get their opinion about other trees. Called and made an appointment. Robert Day arrived at the appointed time and we talked about the trees and discussed options. Originally we were going to cable the back maple (had two main trunks that were growing away from each other) and the first quote included that. We decided that it would be better to remove the tree completely but not grind the stump as there are power and telephone lines buried near by and who needs that complication. We requested the tree to be removed and Robert came by again to assess the work. We received the revised quote within two days. Took us a week to sign and send the quote in. Bartlett called last Tuesday (approximate a week after mailing the signed quote) to see if the next day would work for us. Wednesday a crew of three with two trucks and one chipper arrived on time. We walked around as I pointed out the trees involved and they got to work. Took about 6 hours including an hour break for lunch. They ground the small to medium branches and hauled the larger trunks from the removed tree away. The men were very polite and professional. The trees look great (I've seen some hatchet jobs some tree services call "thinning"). The stump of the removed tree was cut close to the ground as I had requested. They did a great job cleaning up. Just a little bit of saw dust here and there in the yard but no big piles. When my wife came home from work, she remarked on how clean they had left it. I would definitely use them again.

Robert is great. He takes time to walk around the property and explain his recommendations. His team members were on time and performed what they thought was necessary. In one instance I made them call Robert because they were following his stated recommendations.

Robert Day provided expert advice and a fair price for the work done. The crew was pleasant, professional and punctual. Mr. Day and the entire crew are excellent representatives for Bartlett Tree Experts.

Went exactly according to plan, observed safe climbing procedures and had a full complement of safety equipment and very sharp tools. All 3 guys were very professional and very friendly. Trucks and equipment were spotless and in new like condition.

All went as agreed, on time. If I have a criticism at all, I would recommend leaving word when the work is completed. We were not sure until we contacted the provider for a status. Grateful for the non-pressure, of course. Still, it is good to know when all is complete, so that we can pay the invoice as quickly as possible.

They are very professional and have the expertise needed for tree work. I actually plan on using them again. Whenever I call with a question, they always can get me to the most helpful person, even over the phone. If I have to leave a message, someone always gets back to me.

Allen Jones scheduled a time for an estimate and showed up right on time. I had the estimate in my e-mail the same day. Although it was a bit expensive, I had used Bartlett in the past and was happy with the results. The work was scheduled for the next week and was completed during the scheduling window. The crew did a good job of trimming back the trees and cleaning up afterwards. They were professional and courteous. I would use them again.

I was REALLY impressed with the service. It is a little on the expensive side, but completely worth it! Basically, I thought it would be really stressful, but Tim and Travis (the two men who did the tree trimming) were really patient with me about discussing how much of the tree branches/trunks to remove. They stopped at certain points to see if my opinion had changed. I was really impressed with their professionalism and genuine kindness. Having grown up in the woods, I know a nice branch cut when I see one and all of Tim and Travis's cuts were clean, well-located and very professionally done. I just want to add that Jeff, the original person who came out to examine the tree and price the job for me, was also very knowledgeable and professional.

They did an excellent job. The only reason I gave them a B on price is because I got an estimate to trim some bushes and it was a bit pricey. However in cutting trees and trimming trees they do an excellent job and are fair on price. Would highly recommend. I have used them for tree assistance more than once.

Went fine and they cleaned everything up well. I liked that they were willing to keep their heavy equipment off of our new driveway as they take no responsibility if the driveway cracks and we were not willing to risk that possible damage.

They were responsive and punctual. They were more expensive than some but I liked having knowledgeable person about trees who knew what they were doing. I am in process of doing the same thing at a new home, to raise and thin the canopy. when the person came out for the new quote I liked that for two trees I thought might need to be removed .. which would lead to more money for them. .. They said it wasn't necessary. That shows me that they are not trying to drive up the price with unnecessary work. my only complaint is that I don't know if I am on the calender because they schedule on Thursdays and I'm trying for the appointment on Friday. makes it harder to address my own schedule.

Their technician Craig calls the morning he is planning to spray, so that I can be sure all my animals are away from the area to be sprayed. Brian corresponds with me regarding the annual and acute treatment plans. I'd love to have them spray my orchard as well, but it's just too expensive....

I have had them in the past. When I retired I dropped using them. Actually they have very specific services. They are great; they are very reputable but expensive. They really know their stuff. There is not a question that I can ask that they are unable to answer.

Bartlett has provided periodic tree/shrub surveillance in our yard which is an old piece of Duke Forest with many trees that could potentialy pose a threat to the house during storms. They have provided good counsel and service in terms of pruning and disease prevention. We were one of a few in our neighborhood who did not have to lose our beautiful pines when a disease infestation threatened them - not a single one affected. In fact, our crabapple trees were so restored to health after their treafment that they became the focus of deer feedings and had to be removed in order to prevent the conventions of deer they attracted! In particular, Kevin Reigner is truly interested in what he does, and clearly has an avocation for the work he does. Bartlett is ranked in the mid-range of pricing for tree services in what could be a very expensive service industry, so their pricing seems to be a fair value for the excellent work product they provide.
