AUSTIN TILE & REMODEL

It was pretty good. In one area in the floor some tiles came loose so we are still waiting for him to come back and fix that. They are very pleasant, trustworthy, I felt comfortable having them in my home, they worked with me and my husband to come up with a design that worked for both of, and they completed the work in a timely fashion. The price was great.

It went nowhere.

Terry took over two weeks to do a job that should have taken 3-4 days. He often arrived around 11am and worked to 2pm. The floor was installed fairly well but shower was a different thing. He didn't check half wall forming the corner shower for plumness and proceeded to tile before discovery of a problem I would have taken care of if informed. Therefore two walls had differenct thickness and the caps of half walls were unacceptable. He used many additional tiles to try and make right but never succeeded. I also discovered he didn't have many tools and the ones he had were borrowed. His last cuts were made with dull blade and chipped the porcelin tiles. He found many things to complain about when it became obvious he didn't have the expertise to handle the job. A lot of whining which became very annoying. He cleaned his grout bucket at my outside spiget at front door instead of the one at back of house leaving grout residue on my walkway. He came at night with wife to clean interior tile while he steam cleaned our sidewalk. I was so fed up that I handed him the check and asked his wife not come inside to clean. Due to it being dark he spattered my front door and two windows and just moved the residue to the other side of sidewalk. Emailed him to come and clean again but he did not. I had another gentleman that I had worked with for years come out of retirement to help with the problems. He removed the tile off of caps of half walls and I had a piece of granite installed to disguise the fact that walls were not same thickness. Had tile around electrical box for towel warmer cut out so it could be wired correctly. Also had HVAC vent tile cut so vent cover could fit. I am thankful that tile tends to be a great design for hiding mistakes. Only when using shower or toilet do you notice the uneven grout lines and tile not be leveled when installed. Luckily out guests will not use the bath. I would caution anyone using Terry as he is not professional nor does he know his craft well.

Started out good. He was responsive to call requesting estimate. Good explanation of what he would do and his way of building shower pans to reduce chances of leakage. Very eager to start the job. Work was good. Disappointed he did not use a wet saw so some of the cuts were crooked but he replaced those we were concerned about. Replaced some tiles that were chipped on the edges but said if he continued removing tiles, there is a risk of chipping more. I was not pleased he did not notice chipped tiles as he was installing them. So he covered chips with the grout. He was very poor about punctuality. Was always late and rarely called. One day, he said he would be there around 9 or 10, I finally received a call from his wife at 4 in the afternoon that he would not be coming. While what has been installed is good, he has yet to finish the job as he left a hole much too big in the tile where the shower head installs and the escutcheon does not cover the hole completely. After talking with him and his plumber, I agreed to let him take the escutcheon of the new shower faucet with him so he could look for a part to match the finish that would cover the hole without replacing the tile. He has been paid in full for the job. Over the past two weeks I have left four messages on his work number and I left one message with his wife and asked him to please call me to make arrangements to return the escutcheon and replace the tile. He has not returned one phone call.

It is a one man company. His communication skills are not great. He is always late. When he comes, he is very personable. He explains what he is going to do. His work and end result is good. The only complaint I have is that he doesn't show up on time and he doesn't call to tell you when he will be there and when he does call, he never comes on time.

Was very friendly and professional. As others said he provided numerous references and is a plumber/handyman that does all the "extras." These include installing shower valve and general bathroom plumbing. We were very pleased with the final product. They took their time making it look great. Called back immediately when I made my initial call (I had a few people never call me back). Only complaint would be that during the week long project the timing of when they showed up to work wasn't always when they said. Although they usually showed up within an hour. Overall would definitely recommend and will use again on all tile projects.

I was so pleased as they called me back immediately. He showed up on time for the estimate. During the initial conversation, he offered references as all turned out to be very positive upon my contact. He truly took his time with the work to ensure a quality job. I am intending to rehire him to complete additional tile work. Since I was not financially ready to complete the job right away, he said that he would purchase the tile to assure the correct match. Then, he would store it until I was ready for the installation. He is very knowledgeable and offered suggestions for a unique design. I was so pleased of his willingness to correct the problem with the drywall as it was incorrectly done by a different company.

THIS PERSON WAS EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE. HE REALLY KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING. HE EXPLAINED WHAT HE WAS GOING TO DO AND WHY. HE GAVE US REFERENCES AND THEY ALL HAD THE SAME OPINION WE DID WHEN THE JOB WAS FINISHED. WE HAVE ALREADY RECOMMENDED HIM.
