Description of Work: The gentleman that came to my house was top-notch, young and extremely knowledgable. I get turned off when part of the assessment was to completely evaluate every inch of my plumbing and point out everything that is wrong in my house plumbing-wise. I get why it is done, but i had a bathtub diverter that needed a repair, that is all. Again, i do appreciate his thoroughness and knowledge but i know i cannot afford ARS to do "all the work" that he says i need to have done.

Description of Work: My AC was fried. Shorted out. After I waiting for two days for another HVAC specialist to tell me he could not get the parts, I call ARS/Rescue Rooter (Durham) at 5pm on a Friday afternoon. They sent Michael over early Saturday afternoon to assess to problem and order the parts. He returned on Tuesday and finished the job. ARS was dependable, professional, and repaired my AC problem. What more can you ask for?

Description of Work: This was an unusual experience for the young man who did the work, as it involved yard hose connectors rather than the usual plumbing fixtures I'm sure he normally deals with. The young lady dispatcher never did listen carefully to get the details of our problem, so the hose leak issue was a surprise. It turns out all ARS could do was to competently wrap white plumber's tape around the connectors, and point out that I needed a new fixture on my hose reel. He tried to fashion a new connector, but to no avail. I'm glad, because we'd still have had a leak at the reel, and he'd have added $125 to my bill (less $50 credit). As it was, there was no additional charge. He was a very pleasant young man, and we'd use these folks for a plumbing issue in the future.

Description of Work: The system they installed 7 years ago was not installed correctly. Heat strips were missing from the unit. Subsequent yearly inspections failed to identify issue. After 3 1/1 years, a technician FINALLY alerted us to the issus. The slab they installed was not level, resulting in water accumulating and remaining in the unit. The duct work for which we paid was not completed. The ARS salesperson who came to give us a quote on a new unit promised big discounts and to make us whole. We never received a quote from ARS, despite numerous calls and requests on our part. They were totally non-responsive. Obvioulsy, they did not intend to fix their previous mistakes, despite our willingness to pay for an entire new system. Tremendously unprofessional, unresponsive, inept company.

Description of Work: We needed a new heat pump. They recommended a high-efficiency model, which so far is trouble-free. They arrived on time, as scheduled, even working during one of the worst rainstorms, so that we were able to get our climate control up and running (it was a heat wave).

Description of Work: Maintenance agreement cool check on a rental house we own. Cost above includes cool check in the Spring and heat check in the Fall, for around $80 each, including senior discount.

Description of Work: Via use of camera and drain snakes, determined underground run-off water drains on both sides of the house were clogged. They had to dig them up and reconnect drain pipes. Waiting for a heavy rain to see if the drains are working properly.

Description of Work: What we thought would be a free spring ac check turned into 1000 in bills to pay for broken parts in one of our units. After paying 400 for one set of parts and ordering a 600 part, we contacted someone else for a different opinion. We found out that ARS overcharged us, made unnecessary repairs to one part, and took much longer than another company to get us a replacement part for our heater. (ARS said it would take a week to order. The other company was able to get us a new part the same day that they came at a 33% cheaper rate).

Checked other parts and suggested the capacitors on the outside unit be replace. | |Then came the hard sell, they wanted me to look into replacing the units to a "new, better, etc." system are the low low price of $2500 to $6000. I told them no, they came up with a bunch of reasons why i was making the wrong decision. I still told them no and they left. | |We did purchase a maintenance plan, and there were a few minor problems: cam to check the freon on the coldest day of the month and could not get the ac to turn on; each time they come they ask if anyone had explained to me the new systems that were available. | |Not too pushy, but pushy enough.
