Our hybrid (gas/electric) heating and AC went down in February and I could only get ARS and one other company to come see it that day. They said that it would not be very cost effective to fix, which I then confirmed with outside help, so I asked them for a quote on a new system, along with 2 other companies. ARS's price was the highest, but they also had the best products, could install the quickest and just seemed to "have their act together" more than the others. They gave a bit of a hard sell and at times I was a little taken back by that, but he was always professional and worked with us well and explained everything from the system choices to financing. I gave the price a "B" only because it was high, not because I don't think I got what I paid for, but at the same time don't think I got a "great deal". I wish I could've given an "A-" The new system (a Carrier Infinity or Performance series I am little embarrassed I can't remember which) was installed 2 days later and is really great, they gave me some space heaters while they waited for the system to come in too. It has been humming along in both cold and hot weather for 6 months now and my electric bills are WAY down and my gas bill was almost non-existent.
Description of Work: Assessed and later replaced our heating/AC unit and some ductwork.

They expected the installation to take two days. It was completed in one day. I used their 1 year no interest payment option. The payment paperwork I received after installation was unclear. I discussed with their sales rep and he provided the detail I needed. There was also a minor uncorrected problem I discovered after installation. ARS sent their electrician back fix and he could not locate the problem. I hired another repairman to look at the problem and he fixed it he but admitted it was an easy item to overlook. I asked ARS to reimburse me for the repairman. ARS promptly sent me a check. I was impressed that they owned up to a mistake and did not hesitate to set things right.

I found a leak in the wall behind my toilet. I removed the toilet and knocked a hole in the wall. The plumber only needed to replace about a 12 inch piece of pipe. It took him less than 20 minutes. The work was done quickly and well, but at a rate of about $700/hr, the price was outrageous. I will use them again only if I can't find anyone else. They were able to come out to my house on a Saturday at 6 P.M., something that other plumbers could not promise. I am very satisfied with the work and professionalism, but very unsatisfied with the cost for a simple repair.
Description of Work: Replace a leaky pipe in the wall. I had removed the toilet and knocked a hole in the wall, so all that was needed was to replace a 12" section of pipe.

They were prompt as they came when they were scheduled to. They completed the job when they said they would. They cleaned up after themselves. They were willing to work with me in adjusting their quote based on other quotes that I had. And it was nice that they added the ultra violet light with no extra charge and just included it in the price that I paid.
Description of Work: They capped off all the old ducts and replaced them with new ducts. They put in an air handler in the attic. They also put in an ultra violet light that is used with the air handler.

I have never heard of such a thing. I would not use them again. The price was ridiculous for 2 3/4 hours of labor
Description of Work: My AC went out. I called them on a wed 6/4 they said they could not get anyone to me until that Sunday. I waited in 100 degree weather the whole time. The technicians came out and went through all the items for his seasonal checkup. But that is not to service the unit, he promised to come the next day to install the new part I needed. He did not come that day. I called to complain and they said the part was not in yet. They promised to come the next day, and would come between 10-11. They showed up at 9 and I had to go to a doctors visit. They were doing the work when I left and I got a call when I was gone that they were finished, they needed the payment right then or they would disable the system.

They were able to send someone to repair the leaky faucet the same day I called. The person who took the order was very courteous and accommodating. She indicated that the plumber would be there within the 2 hour window I selected and that I would receive a call 30-45 mins before his arrival. This is exactly what occurred. The plumber was very courteous. He explained what he was doing and showed me the washer that was causing the problem. Didn't leave any mess behind. I think that the charge for approximately 20 mins worth of work was high but probably worth it since he could come the same day I called and was there within the time frame requested. I would use this company again.
Description of Work: Rebuilt and repaired leaky shower faucet.

I was not pleased with there responsiveness. They made a time and a date and never showed. This happened at least 4 times. They didn't call us to tell us that they couldn't get here. We were not happy, to say the least. Finally, after 4 times of not showing, they finally came and moved the thermostat that shouldn't have been put in the family room to start with. With the fire place and the sun coming in the windows, the heat would shut off quickly and leaving the rest of the house cold, especially the master bathroom.
Description of Work: They moved a thermostat from the family room to the hall way. There was no money involved because this was under the 1 year warranty for a new home.

They were great,absolutely top of the line! They were very fast, and got a salesman out to us super-fast to give us a bid. They gave us an additional year of the service agreement for free. They came when they said they would and made the unit look nice as well. They went the extra mile for us.

The work was great. This company is very reliable and is well-respected in the area. They are very friendly and they seem to do good work. I really trust them, especially if there is something to be fixed.

During the recent routine heat check (which I have done every year), one of the seams on the heat exchanger had rusted, creating a dangerous crack. I was there during the servicing and was shown the crack immediately. The technician disconnected the heating function so the heat couldn't actually be turned on while I talked to Mike Langdon to get a quote. They were very quick and had the new unit installed the next working day. I have used ARS for all my HVAC work for years. The technicians have always been very professional, knowledgeable, efficient, and polite.
Description of Work: Replaced a 15-year-old system (combination gas furnace and AC unit) due to a rusted, cracked heat exchanger.

They do a very good job servicing my air conditioning units because I can trust that they will come out whenever they're supposed to come out and they tell me when something is wrong with my air conditioning units.

Brad from ARS came out and looked over the whole unit and found the problem very quickly. He did a wonderful job fixing the leak and was very professional. I have used ARS in the past and will continue to use them for my heating and A/C needs.

ARS is actually a huge outfit now. They are going into plumbing and everything major now. They are really good. The maintenance check turned out just fine and I am pleased with it. I actually had this same company install my units. One was installed 15 years ago and the other 10 years ago. They are a good company. I do have a contract with them. The charge really all depends on what you choose. We take the smallest contract because our units are getting older. I know they are reasonable, but, I do not recall off hand what the charge is.

They did a great job. A couple of things that I liked the most about them is that they did not push to do any unnecessary things and they showed my husband some areas to keep clear in order to prevent any possible problems.
Description of Work: We had a yearly cleaning and inspection done on our furnace and air conditioner. Our house is about 2300 square feet.

I bought my unit from them 6 or 7 years ago. They come out regularly to service it and keep it running. I have never had any problems with it or the company. They are a great company and I highly recommend them. The price is approximate.
Description of Work: I do not have a contract with Metro but they service my A/C and heating unit. My unit accommodates my 2200 square foot house.

Following the installation, there were two small problems. They immediately returned to correct them. They stated there had been a manufacture defect on some units, which was a minor problem. They offered a good price plus they were able to install the units within 2 days of contacting them. They truly went above and beyond to schedule me. They knew with the high temperatures it was miserable without air conditioning. The units are more efficient plus my electric bills are less.
Description of Work: I had a Trane electric air conditioning unit and gas furnace installed in my 1700 square foot home. They removed and disposed of the old units as well.

We have really been enjoying our new air conditioner this summer. It has been very rainy and very, very humid. That is a good test for our new unit. This company spent time informing us of our different options and we wanted to spend a little more to get something that would last.

I had a rep from ARS - Raleigh visit my home and was turned off by his very pushy presentation. After entering my home he spotted some literature that a rep from another company had left behind. He (without asking) picked up the quote and started finding fault with it....very tacky. He informed me that he was determined to get a commitment from me that very evening. I repeatedly told him that I would evaluate (five quotes in all) and contact him when I had reached a decision. After preparing three proposals he asked me: how does it look"? I responded once again, that I would let him know...so he asked me again!?!? I stuck to my guns and repeated that I would let him know. A very unprofessional snake oil salesman who talked about 'special incentives that were only available today'. Ironically, his quote was the lowest but he blew it by being an a**. I've heard good things about the company though so I'm sure that this guy is not the norm...I hope. ($4500.)

Purchased $5000 generator from ARS 5 years ago. Earlier this summer, unit began malfunctioning (would not come on automatically with power outage as designed). Called ARS who sent technician (Dean #296) to diagnose problem. Technician seemed confused, consulted frequently by phone with home office (Reggie). ARS technician stated that loud whining noise (which had been present since unit was installed but never mentioned by ARS installer) was not normal, and that circuit board would have to be replaced. After again consulting with home office, technician stated that ARS would pay cost of part, owner to be responsible for labor of approx $100. I was not offered chance to speak with supervisor, but agreed to this deal. After 1 month delay, 2nd technician (do not have name) arrived today stating repair costs as above. When I objected based on earlier agreement, technician refused to repair unit. Again I was not given opportunity to speak with supervisor who approved earlier deal.
Description of Work: None. Problem was misdiagnosed by ARS technician one month ago. Company at that time stated it would repair problem for cost of labor (approx. $100, company to pay for parts). Technician arrived today requesting authorization for repair costing $571, also stated generator required additional repair costing $200-300 not mentioned during diagnostic visit.

The disposal must have corroded over the years and on a Sunday night there was a big splashy leak and the sink wouldn't drain. I called them at 8:00 on Monday morning and they were here within a couple of hours (even though I didn't make it an urgent request). They said they'd be here between 11 and 1 and then called to see if they could come earlier. The rep was professional and friendly. The deal is that they charge you $85 to come and diagnose the problem and then if you choose to have the work done, they deduct the $85 off the job. He immediately said my garbage disposal needed to be replaced and he showed me the crack that had formed in the disposal. He told me what it would cost (high for the disposal, which could be purchased for about $150 at Home Depot). Problem is that if you supply your own disposal, they charge more to install it. Good service, quick repair... a bit costly. He left the old disposal in my trash along with boxes, which wasn't right.

It was GREAT!! This company knows what they are talking about, tells you straight up and performs the work in a polite and excellent manner. When our next system goes out(the house is aging)we will call them at once!!

Everyone of their guys has always been on time. They call ahead to let you know they are coming, and are always courteous. They are knowledgeable and make recommendations for any upgrades. It's always been a good experience.
Description of Work: I've used these guys to conduct a bi-annual service on the A/C (in spring) and Heating (during the fall). They clean the coils, check the pressure, etc., on the A/C and clean the furnaces, check their condition and ensure everything is running correctly and safely.

Not good. The price changed three times and we were able to locate a company that charged less and got a one year labor and five year parts warranty compared to a 90 day labor and one year parts warranty that ARS was offering.
