I went to this company because I had heard of it for years, and I have a friend who is related to the owner's. As it turns out, the gentlemen who started the business was not even given my machines to check. An employee did the work herself, and could not see the problem. When I showed her the samples of the stitching that I had brought in with each machine, she said the stitches were fine. I know a good stitch is where the top thread and the bottom thread are joined perfectly between the top and the bottom, such that the bottom thread is not visible from the top, and the top thread is not visible from the bottom. When I should her the puckers and such, she agreed to check them out. I had every incentive to give this company every benefit of the doubt because of the connections I mentioned. I do not like to speak disparagingly about anyone, but this was a HUGH disappointment. The owner is elderly and some of the siblings are trying to keep the business going. Unfortunately they do not have the skills to do the repairs. I am sorry to say how bad this went for me, and it was only made worse because I still had to pay for and quot;work.and quot;

Nice to support a family-owned business, though, and they certainly know what they're doing!

It's hard to find someone who really knows their vintage (mechanical) machines today, but this is the place! It was recommended to me by several fellow quilters when I moved here, and now I'm recommending it to all my friends as well. The location is a bit off the beaten path for me (35 miles from home), but the drive is well worth the peace of mind from knowing I've left my and quot;babyand quot; in good hands. Mr. Johnson was both knowledgeable and personable. The work was done correctly within a week. (BTW, I'd already taken this machine to two other shops which were more expensive and didn't solve the problem.) FYI, as of the date of my visit, they only work on mechanical (i.e., non-computerized) machines.

The service was completed in 4 business days and once completed I received a phone call letting me know.

I have a very old White sewing machine. It had not been serviced in at least 10 years. In that time a couple of dials became stuck because I had not taken care of it and only used it for occasional mending. The dials that I had allowed to become stuck were not able to be fixed, however, Archie Johnson and Sons had another machine in my exact model. I was given the choice of taking the second machine and keeping my own (for parts) at one price, or taking the second machine and not keeping my own for a slightly lower price. I chose to take the second machine and leave my old one with them. In all, I paid a little over the price of the service call. The new (to me) machine works well, and I chose to take it because as they explained to me, the insides are mostly metal as opposed to the new machines which are mostly plastic inside. They were most accomodating, fast, and communicated with me about everything. Small shop, very easy in and out. It is also a great place to pick up needles for your machine.

Excellent customer service, efficient in completing the cleaning and servicing. The owner and his daughter were friendly and obviously had many years of experience in servicing machines.

I would give them an A rating and the pricing was good. I would definitely use them in the future.

I was in one of the local sewing machine shops and asked who they recommended to work on older machines and they recommended him. It is an old style mom and pop shop and they are very delightful and pleasant people. I think they were very knowledgeable. This is the first time I have used them. They were very down home and friendly.
