Anderson Moving Service is a subsidiary of Anderson & Anderson Cleaning Service. Website claims bonded and insured but when asked for specifics no company or contacts were provided to confirm; the website also guarantees moving quote for services: My quote was $2900 and I was charged $4900; Storage facility is an old tobacco barn by railroad tracks with no HVAC & tin roof; holes and cracks in wood floors; no insulation and eaves with no protection from elements; items were tossed haphazardly and mixed with other customers stored items in various parts of the building exposed to the elements. I paid one month's storage fee in advance: items were stored for approximately 3 months; stored items were 18th century and 19th century antiques, oil paintings and boxed art, mirrors, decorative accents and household goods. Many items were damaged due to improper if any packing by company during relocation, or extreme heat and physical conditions for which they were stored: Several painted accents have finish damage from the excessive heat as several oil portraits. Was charged $800 total ($200 for Friday, June 6 and $600 for Monday, June 11) for unauthorized labor fees neither contracted verbally nor written statement: When attempted to contact owners were unavailable despite repeated requests to Anderson contract employees. I contracted with private moving service to remove all of my real property to another location so there was no need for Anderson employees to assist. Upon completion was presented a bill for $1700 for storage and employee labor which was never contracted. The total invoice presented was $800 for labor and $900 for 3 months storage of which one month was paid in advance. As owners were unavailable I provided a personal check written to Anderson Moving Company, postdated so I could speak to the owners about the charges with in the meantime and for a total I believed to be correct for $1030 (I relented on paying the $800) and ($230 for storage charges as principal owner verbally agreed at time oforiginal packing at a reduced rate of $100 per month despite the fact I had already having paid one month in advance of $300. I also paid a prorated amount based on 30 day for the time the items were stored from June 1 to the 13th). Several items at the end of the day which had been purchased by my third party contractor were left on the loading dock to be picked up immediately after my property was unloaded at another location. Mr. Anderson's workers agreed to this arrangement. Upon my contractor's return his items had been seized and returned to the "warehouse". A lock was also placed on a second moving van temporarily left at the site loaded with items my contractor had purchased. This illegal action against a third party was instigated and approved by Ms. Crystal Anderson, the co-proprietor of the business, who had been unavailable all day after learning that the total remitted by my personal check was prorated and postdated. I contacted Ms. Anderson and was berated for not tendering check to "Herbert Anderson , her father, rather than "Anderson Moving Company" for which I had originally contracted to pack and store my property. Further, Ms. Anderson refused to release my contractors? real property until she was paid in full and remitted to Herbert Anderson. As the dispute was between me and the "company" I relented and paid the $1700 in full as Ms. Anderson was holding my third parties property "hostage" until I paid in full. The Wendell Police were called but the officers informed my contractor that this was a civil dispute and there was nothing they could do. The next day Ms. Anderson released my contract employees? real property after he presented her with a cashier's check for $1700. At that time my contractor requested the return of my original check and the original invoice: She refused. I relented and paid full amount as to protect my third party contractor from his real property being illegally confiscated about a matter of which he was not a party. The dispute was legally between me and the Andersons. I filed a complaint with the NC Attorney General?s Office and the Better Business Bureau. I was informed by letter that the Anderson?s did not respond to either inquiry by the agency or the bureau. The Andersons have not contacted me since Ms. Anderson called to berate me for the original personal check presented. On the evening of Monday, June 11 Ms. Anderson nor her father responded to repeated voice message requests for them to call me.
