Description of Work: First I am as disappointed with Angie's list as I am with the provider, if not more so, because the names suggested and listed on this survey as to whom we selected do not even do this type of work! Choices provided to consumer by Angie's list should have more precision without the need for multiple calls from me or Angie's list customer service, which would have done it for me. |Second, we felt like the proverbial captive audience because of a seeming scarcity of providers. In fact I thought that the technician was being sent from Richmond but he came from Raleigh. So I gave provider an overall "F" because of the price, which I perceive to be a gauge. Moreover I felt that the technician could have found the leak in 2 hours for the established price of $475 for two hours instead of 2 and 1/2 hours for $ 542.50. Now to be fair, the price structure was fully disclosed and agreed upon in advance, but the providers of this type of service seem to now have near monopoly power in setting the prices as evidenced by the run up from the past cost in this case as discussed below. |Third, and importantly provider's technician did meet the requirement and one cannot argue with the success of finding the leak and clearly marking exactly the spot for one leak and reasonably close for the other. So maybe the selection of "F" on professionalism based on my feeling that 2 hours could have worked has to be tempered by the expertise and professionalism of the technician required to locate the leak. So the survey scoring does not provide for that mixed consideration. Still previous experience several years ago with a different technician from the same provider located a leak for much less cost, and his work included suiting up and diving, which was not the case this time. So the price from then has nearly doubled. |Fourth, the provider never followed through on my request that the technician ask if they would fix the leak. So I had another company do that and yet another to resurface the patio that was dug up and cemented after leak repair. |Finally, all I can say is that all these expenses might ultimately lead to less folks keeping their pools going. There are two within 100 yards of my home that are closed. Another experience like this might result in a third one. When that happens provider might have less business. I can assure that I will shop harder next time and hope that Angie's list also works harder to keep a reputation that is being scarred here and there from what I have been reading. | |

Description of Work: Leak detection equipment was hooked up to the water line and various tests performed to locate the source of the leak.
