Horrible service!! Paid $2,917. 78 trusting he would have my 1989 Mazda up and running as he promised! Not even close! The $400 car is not worth $75 now that he has worked on it. First of all we paid a $500 deposit to expedite a 2-3 day turn around. 3 weeks later we flew in to get our car and retrieved a nightmare! He recommended replacing the transmission (& other components) and we trusted his professional guidance. Well obviously he was wrong it was the motor! He claims to stand behind his work with 90 days warranty. It’s okay to be wrong, but own it!! Fix the car, cut your losses!! What is a reputation worth? Well 6 weeks later (and counting) we haven’t heard a peep! Well I’ll see him in court!! This business will be on the attorney general radar after I finish with them!! It doesn’t pay to be greedy and unethical. We paid in good faith to get our car running and all we’ve gotten is excuses and a no operable car that’s sitting on his property that smokes like it’s on fire!!! I’m sure Mr Todd ‘Greedy’ is adding storage fees on top of it all! Tick Toc, karma will catch up with you!

Rebuilt transmission suffered catastrophic failure after only 25k miles. Business chooses to stand by faulty product and/or service - will not perform warranty service to determine whether the issue is the product or the work, and denies any wrongdoing. Claims no obligation to honor the warranty due to alleged ownership change. Claims previous owner took all records with him. Have seen no evidence to either of these facts. Business did continue to take money from us for work relating to the warranty during the period they claim the warranty was not valid. Did not, at any point, disclose this fact to us while continuing to take our money for said services that we would not have had them perform otherwise. They also claim to have performed 2 checks on the transmission prior to its failure. Due to the extent of the failure (repeat: CATASTROPHIC) it is physically impossible that a company who specializes in performing hundred point checks to determine transmission issues found absolutely no indicator of a problem only 3-4 days prior. It has become abundantly clear they either lied about performing the checks, or about their findings. Very dishonest company that feels comfortable claiming they offer a quality product and service that only lasts 25k miles. I would highly suggest seeking out any number of the other transmission options in this area that last twice that, as this product should.

The receptionist has terrible customer service! The staff are a bunch of crooks. DO NOT bring your car to be serviced at Affordable Transmission; they will try to keep your car hostage. I was one step from seeking legal action. Do not waste your money or time!

Transmission rebuild was good, however, I had to take it back twice because the steering wheel was not aligned properly. Wound up taking it to my regular mechanic for an alignment and it was still not properly aligned. Not sure what they did but it would not align properly. People were nice, car seems to run well after 12 months and about 6,000 miles, but it was very pricey. Not sure what the normal rate is but it was nearly $2600 for a 2004 Accord v6 transmission rebuild. That's almost the value of the car. Hope this helps.

Price and time was good.No place for parking in the lot it's always full.Other than that all went well.

Fixed the problem at a reasonable cost. Would use again.

They did a good job. I am still driving around and I don't have any problems ever since. It wasn't the best price but for the time he'd get it ready for me, it was a good price.

They're excellent, we've used them before, they were quick.

We didn't end up using them because we decided not to repair our transmission, we are just going to get a new car. It was a pleasant interaction and I felt like they were a straight shooter who gave us us an honest appraisal, but we were astray.

Reasonable price. On time. Fixed my leak. I'd use again.

It has been a good experience. I have not had any problems. They were on time and the price was good. They were professional. They were honest and straightforward. I would use them again.

My 2004 Honda Civic had been making a whirring noise for many years that got progressively worse. I had repeatedly mentioned it to the dealership and was told my transmission was fine. When the sound got worse, I was told it may be due to a bad bearing in my transmission and that it would cost over $4000 to repair, which may have been more than what I could have gotten for my car if I sold it! But since I have always taken good care of my car and it only has about 80,000 miles on it, I would rather keep it. When we researched this problem online, it appears we were not the only ones to have this problem with this year and make of my Honda. Then we checked on our other options and found some excellent reviews of Affordable Transmissions on Angie's List. So we called and got a far lower estimate, so we made an appointment and dropped the car off just before Christmas. We were told it may take about two weeks, which we expected since it was just two days before Christmas. Todd Goodman and his team of excellent mechanics not only got the job done within that first week, but their work far exceeded our expectations! And they performed a number of extra services to prevent future problems from occurring, thereby saving us much future labor costs, not to mention headaches. So in addition to the big transmission job, they also included the others listed above. They included a one year warranty on the replaced parts and a 30 day labor warranty. Not only were they courteous and accommodating, but also gave me a wealth of tips and information on how to get better gas mileage. When I first took my car on the road, it was like driving a new car! In fact, it seems smoother and quieter than it was when it was new! I have already recommended Affordable Transmissions to a number of my clients and friends, so keep up the great work, guys!

August 31, 2013 I live in Annapolis, Maryland: My wife drove from Annapolis, MD to Eastern NC in the VW Golf to visit our son and his family (a 400 mile one way trip). When she departed our son's house several days later, the transmission in the Golf did not want to shift properly. My wife left the car at out son's home and returned home to Annapolis, MD via Amtrak. There were no automobile repair shops in the vicinity of my son's home in Eastern NC that were VW proficient. I began a Google search for auto/transmission repair facilities to the West of my son's home, and settled on the Raleigh area as the most likely location for foreign car experience. I made a number of calls, and when I had a conversation with Todd Goodman, owner and operator of Affordable Transmission and Auto Repair Center, located at 2900 Capital Blvd, Raleigh, NC, I felt mostly OK. How does one know about a shop you have never dealt with before, located 400 miles from home? Each conversation after our initial chat left me with more confidence; Bottom line: An exceptional experience from beginning to end; price was competitive, Mr Goodman was (is) very knowledgeable, and made every effort to make my experience with his shop A+. And it was. One of the best automobile repair experiences I have ever gone through, and due to Mr. Todd Goodman and his exceptional shop! Excellent experience!

I tried to find a place to replace the transmission on my Accord but they were all $3,900 and up, some over $4,500. The car is only worth $6.000. Called Affordable and Todd explained that they do almost nothing but Honda vehicles and they rebuild the transmissions themselves instead of just ordering a rebuilt one and installing it. I admit I was skeptical but I had little to lose. The car was on its last legs. Good Move! Todd and his team did the work on time and on budget and the car runs like new. Nice smooth shift, no annoying clunk and no red drops in the driveway.
