Affordable Tile by Moses

Ken was very understanding and told me that I could get a refund for the Big Deal I purchased if I didn't want to move forward with the work. While he was at my home, I asked him to provide a free estimate for adding tile my kitchen floor. Again, Ken was very polite and kind. I just didn't like the details of the coupon I purchased. I processed the refund through the Angie's list.

The cost was reasonable for the job, and Ken was punctual, responsive, punctual and reasonably professional, but the quality of the work was just plain bad. The end result of our bathroom remodel was exactly what we were trying to avoid by using Angie's list. I'm confused by how Ken has consistently gotten good review when the quality of his work is so poor, despite what appear to be his best efforts. We had two other people come in to do separate work on our bathroom and they described his work as "shoddy" and "less than sub-par" and I agree with them. The large tiling on the floor and the walls is visibly uneven in numerous places. Some of the uneven tiling on the walls made it difficult to install and fully seal the shower door. The mosaic tiling on the wall and the floor is even worse. It's uneven in every dimension and jarring to look at. The seams/grout between the tiles is also very uneven. Finally, when Ken completed the job there were holes in the grout, some looked like they had been created by air bubbles and others were just gaps between tiles. Ken was kind enough to come back twice to try to fix his work but even after the second time, 99% of the issues mentioned above were still there. We had to have someone come back after Ken and fill in all the holes and seal the shower. Overall, the experience and the end result were deeply disappointing. It's been weeks and I still cringe when I walk across the uneven tile on the floor or look at any surface of the shower. We're hoping to be able to save up the money to completely replace the shower one day soon. I'll include photos if that's possible.

Ken is an honest contractor and does his best keep his word. He ran into some obstacles while installing the tile and toilet, but he continued forward and completed the job as promised. I would recommend him to anyone in the market for tile installation

This project went great. Ken came on a Saturday to give a quote on the spot. He explained that it would cost extra to take the demolition debris to the dump as Wake County charges commercial users to dump but not residential homeowners so I happily agreed to dispose of all the old tile and drywall myself. The actual work took place about 2 months later as he was already scheduled elsewhere and I needed to order all the tile. I supplied the tile and grout. He provided everything else. He showed up every day on time at 8am. He often stayed until 6 or 6:30pm to remain on schedule. I changed a few things I wanted done once work started and he wasn't bothered by this at all. I agreed he would need to charge me more for the extra work. The additional costs were very reasonable. He didn't try to gouge me and he could have because he was already there and halfway through the work. I would have been stuck but he was an honest guy and I appreciate it. I recommended him to my boss and his wife.

Ken Moses did a terrific job, from the start of the engagement to the completion of the job. He committed to dates that he kept, he was punctual, and he worked diligently through the completion of the job. His quote for the work was very reasonable, and the quality of the work is excellent. I would definitely recommend Mr. Moses to anyone looking for a quality tile job for a reasonable price from a true professional.

I wanted to have my kitchen floor tiled and began looking around at big box stores for pricing. While they were not too bad I still just wasn't sure. I was afraid to call a private installer or contractor because I had heard nightmare stories and you just never know what you will get. I decided to join Angie's list and check out some reviews. I found Affordable Tile by Moses. He seemed like a good installed and the negatives that I found seemed to be written by unreasonable customers so I decided to call him. I got a voicemail as I expected in the middle of the day but to my surprise he called me back in about 10 minutes. He scheduled to come to my house in 2 days. He came on site took about 30 minutes ( he also provided a quote for my bathroom) and left me to my decision. As i was thinking about it I had another question so I text him on a Saturday asking him to get back to me on Monday. However yet again in about 10 minutes he text me back. Wow, great response. This sealed it for me so I scheduled the kitchen work to be done. He came out on Monday and was done by Wednesday evening. Not a huge job about 200 or so sq feet. It looks great we are so happy we went with Mr. Moses, great job and best price All in all great job! I will be calling Mr. Moses when I am ready to do my bathroom, I have full confidence that it will turn out just as great. Thank You Mr. Moses!!!

Ken Moses did an exceptional job. The coupon that I bought on Angie's List did not exactly match the amount of work that I needed done, but Ken was very flexible with me and allowed me to apply the coupon to the work that I needed done. We got the date on the calendar, and Ken kept in contact with me until that date arrived. On the day he was scheduled to begin work, he was on time and prepared. He showed up every day at 8:00 and worked hard. The snow and ice delayed the project one day, but Ken arrived early and worked late to catch back up. Ken was very consciences and cleaned everything up before he left. I felt very comfortable leaving him alone at the house to work when I had meetings that pulled me away. He was able to give me some great advice and saved me a lot of money. I would use him again for any tile project that came up.

Ken was prompt and diligent. He did an excellent job and worked continuously every day to get the job done quickly. The shower looks great!

On time for initial meeting. Quote given on spot. Actual work about 90 days later. Ken left materials list for finish tile that we had onsite when he started. He brought everything else. 4 day job. Showed up early every day. We had a couple small changes to what we wanted done that he did without changing the price. Finished work looks great!! On time, on cost, looks great. Can't ask for anything else.

My Appt. started with him calling me on the Sat. Dec 28th about 10 or 11 am and asked if he could come by right then and measure because that worked best for him, I happened to be at the house at the time so I said okay. He said he would be there right away so I waited for him. When he didn't show up I called he said he was still coming so I waited... when he arrived he was clearly flustered and angry for having gotten lost and blaming us for not having more clear house numbers. Let's just say we started off with a bit of a personality conflict... his deal was for a tiled tub/shower combo we had a floor to ceiling shower but the numbers did not work out and when I would question any thing he would get frustrated and then he told us he could not do it until mid Feb. He had a very strong accent and he talked very fast he was very hard to understand and communicate with. It just didn't work out...

It did not go well. My kitchen is in the same condition it was when he started. He did not do the entire floor only an area because he said it did not need to be done under the large appliances. He has been very belligerent with me about the situation. I have requested a refund. I would not recommend him to anyone.

We started a bath remodel and found the service provider on Angie's List after we signed up. He had an A rating. We didn't feel comfortable with him, strange behavior. We asked him to remove the tile in the bath. About 2/3 ways through he said he was tired and left the job. We had a problem with communication because English is not his first language. He didn't provide us with paperwork or contract. We found a leak under the shower and had to replace part of the floor. He said he couldn't come out and finish the job so we had hire another company to complete the work he had started as the dirt under our house was exposed. He didn't want to put paper down to protect our hard wood floors. We provided the paper and he didn't put it down correctly and complained the entire time. He also complained while he was removing buckets of debris out of the house. He damaged the wall on the other side of the bathroom about 4’x4’. He is calling and demanding the full amount we agreed on even though he did not complete the job. He is very aggressive and demanding. He is also asking us for additional money for a restocking fee for supplies he purchased but didn't use. He was unprofessional and told my husband that had he known how hard it was going to be he would have charged us more.

Ken did a very beautiful job. He was neat and professional at all times. He worked quickly and was very accessible when I had questions. I was very pleased with my bathroom when it was completed.

It went well. I bought this for my older mom and he was courteous and punctual and easy to work with. The plumber was supposed to do one extra part that they didn't do and Moses did it for a very small charge. He came a few days before the plumber to take everything out before the plumber had to do his work and then came the next Monday-Wednesday to do the rest of the work. It looks nice.

Mr Moses a very nice fellow and a hard and steady worker. The final job looks great, and so much better than the old tile. We had originally scheduled for a Thursday, but he was able to start a day early, and was done before the weekend. Some things to consider if you have similar work done: Kin does not haul debris away from the demolition of the old tile, so you'll need to make other arrangements. We ended up using a Bagster from Waste Management. For us it was about another $100. We had an issue with the valve on the toilet and I had to call a plumber. But that was a good thing because it gave me a chance to go out and purchase new bathtub fixtures and have them installed while the old tile was off the wall. This worked out 'cause Kin was able to be cutting wallboard while the plumber did his thing. Now every time I take a shower I feel like I've gone on vacation and using their fancy bathroom even though I haven't left the room.

Job was not done as well as I expected. Also did not haul off debris as stated in ad.

When Lowes told us they would install our floor at a cost of $1300, but would not demolish the floor we had then, we checked Angie's List and found Ken Moses. Ken arrived within an hour of our call and gave us an estimate lower than Lowes' estimate that included demolition of the floor! We were thrilled with the bargain and even more thrilled when Mr. Moses completed our floor and it was more beautiful than we had even envisioned. Ken Moses arrived on time every day, and called/emailed/texted to keep us informed and give us plenty of notice of scheduling and progress. This man, who is not only a skilled craftsman (he is an engineer!) but an intelligent, extremely pleasant, and considerate person, moved our refrigerator though it really was our job to do so, even though he had to remove the doors to do so and they were a hassle. The floor, the first layer of which was installed about 1960, gave him a huge hassle and took literally all day to demolish. The tile I wanted needed to be ordered (I really should have ordered it before I called him but I didn't know) and took far too long, but Mr. Moses was patient and kindly managed to fit us in as soon as the tile arrived. I work at home and cannot stress how considerate this man is. The floor was laid in two days, and his placement of the tile and application of the grout was artful. If I had placed them myself I would not like the pattern any better than the one he devised. Mr. Moses would not accept a penny from us until the job is done, though it stretched out over a couple of months, and we did offer. When there was a problem with one of the pocket doors catching on the tile, he arrived within one hour of our call and immediately addressed and solved the problem with no additional charges. Trusting Affordable Tile By Moses with your project will be the best decision you have made in a while. We cannot say enough good things about Ken Moses and plan to ask him to undertake all of our home improvement projects.

I've been through quite a few contractors over the last year working through the issues with this house, and I'd have to say that Ken Moses is the most trustworthy and hard working. Consistently on time, worked until the job is done each day (even if that ment staying late), met all deadlines, good end results, honest and trustworthy in my house, even follow up to make sure I was happy with everything.... I can't name one bad thing about Moses and how he runs his business. I will be using him for future jobs, and would recommend him to a friend without hestitation. Thanks Ken, Ryan

Nicely done watch of new tile to existing tile on area of flooring. Lists to customer and does a wonderful job. Highly professional.

The service was EXCELLENT! We are so satisfied, in fact, that we are considering doing a tile backsplash behind our new sink and counters, since we now have such a terrific "tile guy"! He is nothing but polite and professional, he was always on time, neat, and cleaned up after all the work was done. The quality of the work is impeccable - we just keep getting compliments on our new tile floor! His pricing was very reasonable, and he was so accommodating with regard to scheduling and doing a larger area than was originally included in the big deal. His materials were all contractor-grade, and he explained what the results would look like so that we could preemptively plan how to manage the transition from the tile to the adjoining room's floor. Overall, our experience with Tile by Moses was fantastic, and we highly recommend him!

Mose's arrive on the agreed to date to do quote estimate. With quote in hand we agreed to proceed.(fair estimate) After day one, of laying shower, it was decided that it was time to have my plumber come back. Mose's returned quickly after plumper work was completed and job was completed has agreed. (cost & timeline) Our overall review is to say Mose's did what he said he would do and did it on time and at agreed the cost. I am a non-licensed general contractor with a plumber and electician working in my home under Wake County Permit. I need folks who say what they can do and do what they said. Mose's did that and I am very pleased with the work he did and the cost of same.

I was unable to use the big deal due to the fine print and extra cost involved with the deal. Also the circumstances regarding the bathroom set up was an issue. The company was on time, very polite and professional.

He did a top-notch job with the removal of the existing tile and installation of the new tile. Highly recommend him and his quality work. Will have him return for my next project.
