Description of Work: I called @ 10:00 a.m. on 12/30/13--in midst of holiday period--& asked A.H. Plumbing tel. receptionist to send a plumber to estimate cost of cleaning out an almost completely clogged kitchen-sink drain & installing a replacement sump pump in my home's crawl space. Proprietor Mike Price of co. showed up on afternoon of that same date, installed the sump pump, &--only after MUCH rotor-rooting, etc--finally succeeded in speeding the sink drain up somewhat--but to a still-rather slow, barely acceptable extent. He said that was about best he could do at the time, opining that some extensive old pipe replacement might be required in order to get the drain flowing more satisfactorily. That visit cost me $365.00, and left me less than pleased. On 1/17/14 I called him back complaining that the sink was again backing up to an almost completely clogged state. His response was he was very busy,he MIGHT get by my house again later that same day, but definitely would do so between then and Tuesday,1/21/14. He didn't show up until the afternoon of the latter date, by himself. And he worked on trying to unclog the drain using his rotor rooter, etc. again, but to no avail. So he went under the house, took photos of old piping in question for me, again opining that was the underlying problem. Unconvinced, I told'im I'd had it clog some years ago like that, only to discover that the problem was the plumbing ventilation pipe on my roof, which had been clogged with small Willow Oak leaves. So patiently & as a last try, he went up on the roof that very cold windy day at almost dark to rotor root that same old roof plumbing ventilation pipe; but that didn't work either, which convinced us both he'd probably been right earlier about the old galvanized water piping under the sink, house, etc. needing replacement due to rust, solidified debris, etc. having caused narrowing thereof over the years. He estimated cost to replace the piping would be $425, but when I balked he dropped his estimate to $350, which I agreed to. He charged me nothing for that visit. and we made an appointment for him to come by at 8:00 a.m. on 1/31/14 to do the job. He & his helper didn't show up until 11:00 a.m that day--but given there was some snow on the ground and early a.m. temperature had been 16 degrees, I wasn't about to make too big a deal of that aspect. And the 2 of them worked a pretty long time replacing the pipe in question, etc.; plus were so considerate and careful, they took off their shoes each time they came and went into the house! I especially liked Mike showing me a piece of the over half-clogged pipe he'd replaced, to verify it indeed had needed replacement. Too, they cleaned up their mess well afterwards, and as I was about to write the check I--over HALF jokingly--asked what about a senior discount...whereupon, danged if he didn't give me 5% off as a result! So that second fix cost me $332 instead of $365. Mike clearly cares whether or not he pleases his customers--& I suspect that my mentioning I got his name from Angie's list didn't hurt either. But the bottom line is he proved to be a polite, conscientious, dogged professional overall who pretty much earned his money in the end--based on the work I saw and the fact that the sump pump and drain have been working just fine during the 7 1/2 months since he & his helper finished the job. Therefore, I'm definitely likely to use him again someday.
