Mark took care of the problem while I was out of town and left me a message when he got the job done.
Description of Work: Mark put did on a new roof for me about 8 years ago and did a great job. In fact, I have since recommended him to friends and neighbors, several of whom have signed him on. Recently, I noticed a stain on my garage ceiling, which turned out to be a broken seal on a roof vent. Mark worked a visit to my place into his busy schedule and took care of the problem. What made an especially fine impression on me is that Mark remembered the job that he did years ago and still saw me as a current customer whom he wanted to satisfy. He did.

We bought a house, knowing that it would need a new roof asap. I shopped around to the local roofing companies and received quotes for both composite shingle and metal roofs. Of all the roofers, Mark Stith from Roof Crafters was not only the most responsive, but he also had the best prices. Mark took the time to explain everything in detail, and he was a pleasure to talk to. We decided to go with a metal roof, and the price of his roof was very competitive. Once the work started, Mark and his team were professional and got the work done in a timely fashion. We are really pleased with our new roof. I'm really glad we decided to use Roof Crafters. I feel confident in recommending him to our friends.
Description of Work: We needed our 10 year old shingle roof replaced.

I talked to four different companies before deciding on RoofCrafters. Mark Stith, the owner, came to do the estimate. He came on the day promised and at the appointed time (which is more than I can say for some of the others from whom I'd gotten estimates.) From the start he treated me with respect and sincerity. I didn't feel like I was getting any sort of sales pitch or bull about the roof. He just gave me straight answers and didn't try to convince me to do anything other than the work for which I requested the estimate. Mark and his crew worked on the house for four days. With predicted storms, they made sure that my roof was intact or covered with a tarpaulin when they left for the day. I also had a special concern related to my small dog and any debris left on the ground on the side of the house where she goes in and out. They were very conscientious about cleaning that area up each afternoon before leaving and they left everything all around the house very neat and clean at the end of the job. My new roof looks great and I couldn't be happier. And the price was also the best of the four estimates I got. I would highly recommend RoofCrafters to anyone.
Description of Work: Re-roofed my house, porch, screened in porch, and shed with metal 26 gauge rib-lock roofing.

When we designed and built our Orange County, N.C., timber frame house in 1995-96, we couldn?t afford metal roofing or solar electric photovoltaic (PV) panels, but we wanted both, for many reasons. We had to go with quality profile shingle roofing on our 12/12-pitch roof and hope we could make metal roofing and PV happen when it came time to replace. We were finally forced to make it happen in 2015, when the ?25-year? shingles started leaking at 20 years (we?d experienced unusually good service life, we discovered). So with the threat of disappearing state and federal tax credits on solar PV panels to generate electricity for our house, we decided it was time to install new roofing to stop the leaks, and in so doing, to provide the necessary infrastructure for PV. We narrowed it down to a very few roofing contractors after scouring websites, friends and other resources, but amazingly (to us), only two actually came to the house and surveyed the job. Our preferred vendor was one of them ? Mark Stith, owner of RoofCrafters. A sales representative from another highly regarded, big-name roofer came to our house, measured, left samples and compiled copious notes, but never followed up, despite his promise to do so. Too much difficulty? We?ll never know, nor do we really care. In October 2014, Mark embraced the challenge of our house, admitting this was more than he had encountered in his 25 years of roofing. But he relished our throw-down, and took the job, honoring our request that because we were doing some financial juggling, we didn?t want to start the project until mid- to late summer 2015. The work started in June 2015, which, unfortunately for the roofers, turned out to be an especially hot time, with temperatures hitting 100-plus several days. But RoofCrafters showed up every day. Incredible heat, incredible challenges. Mark and his delightfully efficient and courteous crew crafted a fabulous roof for us, on schedule and on budget. We?ve waited to post this review until we?ve had at least six months of experience with this roofing system so it might be meaningful. Bottom line: we?re confident in recommending RoofCrafters as a truly reliable, top-quality company. We now delight in hot North Carolina sun, rain, and crazy North Carolina snow, hail and sleet, knowing that our home is well protected and that we can enjoy the sounds on our metal roof (it?s really not loud, as some might expect ? it?s just nice). It?s aesthetically right for our home and our setting. It has been great, even through a recent mid-January 2016 ice/sleet mess. And, as Mark predicted, it?s been even cooler inside the house on really hot days. We?re truly relieved that we hired RoofCrafters for our metal roofing project, and recommend Mark Stith without hesitation as a detail-oriented, delightful-to-work-with, highly intelligent roofing professional. He?s the founder of this company, yet he has been actively involved in every aspect of the crafting of our roof. So have we. That?s rare. Thanks to this partnership, we have a relationship that we cherish, and the best roof possible.
Description of Work: RoofCrafters installed top-quality 24-gauge Galvalume (specially coated) metal roofing on purlins over our existing single layer of shingles, which meant we didn’t have to pay for shingle removal and send tear-off shingles to the landfill. We knew going in that this would be an expensive roof. So this much was a big help. We have a big, steep, high roof (12/12 pitch) with lots of skylights (18 counting the wraparound porch) and other “penetrations” such as our Solatube and various fans and vents. There were many complicated cuts and seals involved. Roofcrafters tackled it with true craftsmanship. If I can figure out how to do it, I'll try to add photos of the "before, during and after" of this project.

Three homeowners in my neighborhood banded together, getting multiple estimates for new roofs, one metal, 2 asphalt. All three of us found Mark Stith to be endlessly patient in answering our respective questions, adding information of which we were unaware, and problem-solving issues as they emerged. We all chose Roofcraters for the above reasons, also getting a group discount. Mark is personable and responsive to concerns. I'm tooting the Roofcrafters horn from here on in!

Could not have been more satisfactory. Well, it would have been nice to have it done a month earlier and avoid additional water damage from a failing roof, but that was not the fault of the provider. Let me explain. When it became apparent that the roof would need to be re-shingled, I spoke with several roofing companies. Mark Stith of Roofcrafters was the first to respond, the first to look at the job and was the first to provide an estimate. He came very well-recommended by trusted sources, his estimate was competitive, and we had friends and interests in common, so I looked no further. He advised me that it would be a month until he could do the job, which was disappointing, but I agreed to his estimate and paid 10% of the estimate. I liked the fact that he was a small company and the work would be done by experienced roofers and I knew that the work would be done honestly. Worth waiting for. A month later, just as Mark had promised, Roofcrafters was ready to do the roof. They parked their work trailer in the drive and the next morning Mark's two partners, Jose and Gustavo, were on the roof at eight AM. For the next four days, they were on the roof at 8:01AM each morning and worked until 0730P when it became too dark to see. The weather was good; they worked diligently; and the job went without complication. I spent some time on the roof every day and they were glad to explain the job and point out the progress. I note that Roofcrafters seems to specialize in metal roofs, but this was an uncomplicated job, installing standard shingles on a modest house and at each point they seemed to do a careful job and attend to details. Some of the roof decking needed to be replaced, for which Roofcrafters charged a very reasonable additional hundred dollars for materials. Otherwise, the work was completed for the original estimate and I have every reason to believe that the work was done to a high standard. Looking over Angie's List, I see a number of roofing companies with excellent customer satisfaction, but if you are looking for a small, local company with a reputation for good work and honest dealing, with guys who show up on time, work hard all day, and are a pleasure to have around your home, I would recommend Roofcrafters.

I am completely satisfied with the job done by Roofcrafters and I would definitely recommend the company without any reservations. Mark Stith and his workers were very pleasant and courteous and a pleasure to have at my home.
Description of Work: The owner of Roofcrafters is Mark Stith and he and two helpers replaced the roof on my home in November of 2012. They did a beautiful job and were finished in a little over a week. My home is approx. 2700 square feet, so it was a large job. Unlike other roofers I contacted, Mark did not tell me that I had to remove and replace all my gutters and gutter guards or remove and replace the sky light in the master bath. They removed the gutters and gutter guards before starting work and replaced them on completion with no damage. They cleaned up every bit of trash that had fallen to the ground each day, and before leaving on the final day, they swept out the attic where dust and particles had fallen.

My roof is a fairly typical design with shingles. The total roof required and quot;26 squaresand quot; of shingles. I asked all of the contractors to provide me a quote with the same brand and model of shingle, which I pre-selected by going to Lowe's and Home Depot and looking over their selection. They all offered almost identical services such as 15# felt paper, ridge venting, complete cleanup, etc. etc. Also, I learned that almost any of the 'dimensional' style shingles are now covered by a 50 year manufacturers warranty, while the roofing contractors will offer 5 to 10 years on their labor. The pricing that I got from the seven contractors I interviewed ranged between $ 9550 and $ 6500, or a $ 3,000 range! Therefore I believe it is well worth your time to get estimates from at least three contractors. Also, be sure to ask about who'll actually be there at your home doing the work and how the job will be coordinated.
Description of Work: I interviewed 7 roofing contractors before making my final selection. RoofCrafters were my 1st choice, however due to a scheduling situation I had to end up using my 2nd choice. The reason I'm writing this review is because I wanted other Angie's List members to know about RoofCrafters as their professionalism and moderate pricing make them a great choice for roofing work. They are not your typical big roofing operation, rather the owner/operator is one of the three guys who actually do the work. Mark Stith (owner/roofer) began his business right out of college (UNC) many years ago and is very quality oriented. Having him personally involved in each job is a significant difference from the other roofing contractors with whom I interviewed. Because I didn't actually have RoofCrafters do the work I can't personally validate how their job would have turned out, but everything about my experience in dealing with Mark supports my belief that their work is first rate. Based on my interviews with the seven roofing contractors I learned that the usual roofing business model is where they have a sales person (sometimes the owner) come out and give an estimate. These estimators are skilled at what they do and easy to talk with about your roof situation. However, there is a big disconnect between them and the actual people who show up to do the work. For example, the company that I ended up using did a pretty good job, however, only one of the crew of eleven (11) men who did the work were able to speak English, and in fact, I didn't even realize that any of them spoke English until their second day on the job. This communication barrier left me feeling a bit concerned because I wasn't able to follow what they were doing and they finished and left without ever letting me know.

The project went very well -- excellent, we'd say! RoofCrafters folks began on the appointed date and worked from about 8:30 am to 6 pm including Saturday, finishing the entire roof in a week of very windy, rainy, cold weather. We were so impressed with their diligence, fortitude and professionalism. RoofCrafters cleaned up thoroughly after the installation and the new metal roof looks gorgeous.
Description of Work: Installed 25 gauge blue-grey metal roof with matching flashing on chimney, vents, walls, solar tubes and skylights on top of 1x4" purlins and existing shingles. Overhanging shingles were trimmed back. The house is a 2200 sq ft ranch.

Mark was relatively quick to respond to my request for a quote. He came to the house, walked through all my options and provided quotes for the three different options we came up with. His crew was there within a week to begin the project, which was expected to take 3 days. Due to poor weather it took longer, but they came out on a weekend to ensure the job was done before our family came in for Thanksgiving!!! Overall, it was a great experience and we have a beautiful new roof to show for it!
