I highly recommend Comfort Central. Owner Kevin Schumann and his co-workers, Jay and Thomas, did an outstanding job installing the new HVAC system at our house. Over a four-day period, they set up in our crawl space a furnace/AC unit, a new plenum box, pipes for venting, and a dehumidifier with its own elaborate duct and water-removal system that will help keep our huge crawl space dry. They also put in a new heat pump in the backyard and a thermostat in the house. I was so impressed by the people and the work they did. Kevin and Jay are remarkably knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to HVAC issues. Thomas did a very good job with the aspects of the project that he handled. Every installation presents its own challenges, and one of the best things about Kevin and Jay is their ability to improvise as the project moves along. They considered different options when deciding on the size of the new system, where vents should go, how the duct system should be repaired and improved, the placement and venting of the dehumidifier, and many other things. They always kept the code requirements in mind. They were on time, friendly, communicative, and always considerate about how their work affected us while we were in the house. Kevin, Jay, and Thomas were also terrific when it came to answering my many questions. Kevin’s wife Laurie, who manages the office, responded quickly to my e-mails and helped with scheduling. HVAC projects can be expensive and complicated, and we wanted the right company to handle ours. We learned about Comfort Central from our home health specialist who had worked with Kevin in the past and had received very positive comments about his team from customers. I can recommend Kevin and the Comfort Central crew without reservation.

Bad. They (2 technicians) came on a Wednesday. I told them I had a similar problem a few years ago, and it was fixed by adding coolant. After spending a relatively short time, that came and told me that it was a problem with a TXV valve These control the volume of compressed coolant being released into the evaporative coils. They said it would take quite a job to replace it, as the whole system would have to be drain and refilled. They suggested I consider a new unit to replace the old existing (R22) unit. They were to check to see if they could find a replacement TXV valve, and get back the next day with a quote. Also, a sales person would come by and develop a quote for the new unit. I was told the next day that no replacement could be found, so only option was to scrap the existing unit. The sales person came the next day, and I was to get a quote on Friday, when he called, and gave me a quote for $4800. What they did not know is that I had another HVAC tech coming Friday. He came, and said his initial guess was simply adding coolant as I had suggested earlier, and that it is very difficult to identify TXV problems, as it could not be directly tested as installed. I went under the house with him to the unit, and he noted the evaporative panel (where the TXV valve would be) had not been opened, as one screw had to be drilled out to get at it. On opening, as he expected, there was NO TXV valve - only a manual valve as shown in the unit manual, which the other HVAC tech had been not interested in looking at. He fixed it by adding 2 #'s of R22. He said it would take a lot of work to find the leak, so suggested they should look at it occasionally to see that it doesn't get much worse. I contacted Comfort, and besides the quick wrong determination, they had not done any other work covered by the $95 fee below, which was then refunded. I am writing this so anyone going forward who gets a quote for replacing rather that repairing their unit not just get a quote from other HVAC's for that - but to GET ANOTHER TESTING OF THE UNIT FROM ANOTHER HVAC ALSO ! Reading the earlier reviews made me wonder about the several $ replacements that were done, not just because mine was done wrong - but how superficial the way things were done. Also, I was told that Rheeme no longer had parts to support the unit TXV, while they should have been told that there was no such part used in that unit.

Install went well. They were quick, prompt and professional. Always showed up when they said they would. Cost was right on the estimate, no surprises.

They did a great job, on time, no problems

Comfort Central responded quickly, sending a technician within 24 hours. He found and fixed the leak VERY quickly, and minimized the cost.

They usually call to set up an appointment to come out and are usually right on time.

Out of four bids, this Comfort Central is the only one who acknowledged the need for an extra return, a small motor to force condensate out of the building, and new style vents. Told me exactly when they would need to be in my home; came at exactly those times. SO happy with this company!

Well, I missed several hours of work, had another day of a cold house in freezing temps until I could get an appt. with Gentry, who repaired it. If the business does not repair certain furnaces, the office staff who make appointments should ASK what type you own!

They were less expensive than some other that we got. There were like 5 companies that came by and they were like in the middle. They were knowledgeable and professional. Workers were excellent.

I can't even begin to say how great these guys were (are). Professionalism, courtesy, promptness, promises kept. Nothing more to say. Thanks so much!!

We previously used another company for tuneups. When I called to ask them to send someone out because the air upstairs was cool, (on the warm side) but not cold, the receptionist said that's because it's a heat pump. I tried to explain to her that it had previously been cold but again she said it would just feel cool. I wasn't going to argue, their loss. I called Comfort Central after looking at the reviews on Angie's list. Kevin and his son came out and all I can say is, unbelievable service! We had the upstairs and downstairs units serviced. They were here approx 2.5 hours for the tuneup! They really took their time. Other company in and out in 15 minutes for the tuneups. Also, the unit upstairs has also never heated in the winter. The other company told us the upstairs unit was too small and it needed to be replaced. Kevin, the owner of Comfort Central said it was the right size. A LARGE loss of freon was the culprit for the cool air. Kevin said that sooner or later the upstairs outdoor unit would need replaced due to the amount of freon lost. Also, the capacitor needed replaced. There was no pressure, gave the option to refill with freon or look at a new unit. Told them they would have a decision the next day. Decided to put in freon for the time being and replace the capacitor at this time. The nicest tech came out, tested the unit again just to make sure and we were up and running in an hour or so. The upstairs is now colder than EVER before and the unit doesn't run constantly. This is an A+++ Company! Owner, technicians and office staff!! ** As a side note for women - Although my husband was here, they also talked to me. I didn't feel talked down to, or ignored/annoyed when I had questions. I also feel very comfortable that they would have given me the same price as a single woman, as they gave my husband. I know this is important as sometimes we don't know much about fixing mechanical items and we do get charged a higher price than men. Very courteous and trustworthy gentlemen!

They spent approximately a half hour changing the filter and checking the inside and outside units. With their semi-annual maintenance, we have had zero problems since installation. They are a dependable, friendly business whom we are so glad we found.

It was okay. It was a good service; no problem; average.

Excellent service and communication, the service man even recommended we purchase a service agreement which would help us maintain the unit and save on the cost of replacing parts as they wear out. We will purchase it this summer when our next service call is due. Very helpful company to work with and honest.

Did an amazing job, professional, courteous, were there almost 12 hours and never stopped. Not too many companies install furnace - hot water baseboard head - were very prompt.

Angie's list really ought to have a "gosh, I never used this service" option right at the beginning. Having members have to deal with irrelevant pop ups every time we try to use Angie's List rates Angie's List an F.

The unit was installed in 2008 in our vacation home in Brevard, NC, and had not been serviced since installation because we have been using the house so infrequently. It is now our permanent home. The AC was not working properly so I called Comfort Central based on recommendations on Angie's List. I placed the call on a Friday morning and two hours later, Brian was at our house diagnosing the problem. The blower motor was not functioning and needed to be replaced. Brian called to confirm the availability of parts and warranty (it was still under warranty) and came back the next day to finish the work. All told, he spent about four hours working on the repair. And the AC is working great. I appreciated the quick response from Comfort Central and the total professionalism of Brian as he handled our repair. I was very satisfied with this service, and we have signed up for regular tune-ups of our heat pump with the company.

After the check up was done,I asked for an evaluation of the system. Instead of trying to sell a new system, the owner advised me that the system had a few good years left, and he recommended just doing regular maintenance on the existing sytem

Installatiion was as promised. I had guests in the house when the installation took place and I had no complaints.

The first time we turned on the Air Conditioner for the summer we realized that it wasn't cooling right, Ran all day and didn't cool. We called our previous company that had worked on our unit and they didn't call back until much later, we were on their list for servicing since late May and they still did not come out or schedule us. We had called them several times and they kept saying they would get to us. I call Comfort-Central and they came out within two hours. We signed up to keep them as our servicing company for the air and heat.
