 + -1 more**BUYER BEWARE** Called Total Yard Renovations to make an appointment to use the Angie's List Deal coupon that I had purchased for $405, the person who answered the phone went from pleasant to annoyed once they realized I was trying to use an AL Deal. They made an appointment to come to my home to understand where the work was to be performed; they never showed up or called. I have called repeatedly and left messages and no one has ever returned my call. I had to work with Angie's List to get a refund on my AL Deal. I would be VERY CAUTIOUS in dealing with this company.

 + 1 moreI called and left them a voice mail. No returned call, so I called back the next day and they answered. I had Dave and another young lady come by the house. They were nice, but Dave was rushing through at the end. When the lady and I were still talking, he was in the car trying to get to the next house. I never heard back from them! No quote, nothing. No business from me. Take your time to someone that cares. Communication is important to me. If it's important to you also, seek services elsewhere.
Description of Work: Needed a yard clean up- trim bushes, take out ivy, and remove certain plants.

The response to my email requesting an estimate; the estimate; the scheduling of workers; the hardest working two men who did the job; the cleanup all was perfect. The cost was extremely reasonable. These are very nice people who have a work ethic I admire.

When I first contacted them they were a little slow to respond in coming out to the property to give a quote but when they arrived they were very pleasant and helpful. The price they quoted was rather high and so we went back to them and they were prepared to negotiate a review of the quote. I was concerned then that the job they would do would not be to the standard they had originally quoted but I needn't have worried - they did a great job, worked hard in very hot weather and the crew were pleasant at all times. At the end of the job they walked me round the property to make sure everything was 'up to my standard of expectation' and left the premises clean and tidy.
Description of Work: Re-edged landscape beds around the whole property, weed removal, pickup, deliver and spread mulch on beds and around trees

 + -1 moreI purchased the offer from Angie's List after reading the good reviews and the seeing the fair price. After 4 days, the provider had not called us to setup the work. We called them and it took another two days for them to call us back. We agreed to meet at my house from 1-3 pm on a Friday. They did not show up or call to say they wouldn't be there. Again we called them and they said they would like to come by on Monday and we scheduled a time between 11 am and 12pm. This time I received a call at 11:15 saying they could not be there until 12:30. They arrived at 12:30 and began measuring to estimate the amount of mulch. The estimate was high by 300 sq ft or about 3 yards due to his inaccurate measuring. This concerned me for two reason, either he was trying to upsell or he wasn't concerned about the details. Either way, we agreed on 6 yards vs the 9 he estimated. When I asked him when he would schedule the work, he was non-committal. I explained that my wife and I worked and needed to schedule time off. He said he could guarantee it be installed by the following Wednesday (9 days later), but would call me tomorrow (Tuesday) to confirm the date and time. By 5 pm on Tuesday, we did not receive a call to schedule. I called and no one answered so I left a message. Wednesday at 8:45 am I called again, no one answered and I left a message again. At 9 am on Wednesday the provider called me back. I asked him if he could give a time and day for the installation. He still said he could have it installed by next Wednesday, completely disregarding our previous discussion about setting a time and date. He suggested that we didn't need to be home. Sensing a complete lack of commitment to the work, I politely explained we will be requesting a refund from Angie's List and we agreed to part ways. I called Angie's List and they have initiated the refund.

 + -1 moreIt went fine. I thought they were a little on the high side, but they did a good job of what they did. I paid them additional money because I had them do some additional things while they were there. They sent two guys and it was 4 man hours and they stayed for 2 hours, and I had gotten pine needles, and they sprayed and stuff, and I had them do everything. They did a good job. The guy who owns it is hard to get on phone. They were there when they said. They were great, and were ready to do whatever I needed done.

 + 0 moreDid a good job of raking leaves in the front yard. Did not remove a small bush as agreed, did not do any work int he back yard. Left the site without letting us now they were going, no chance to check the work or remind them to do back yard work.

The company was very graciously allowed me to change the install date twice due to problems with my scheduling. Workers were very polite and quickly installed the mulch, cleaned up after themselves and thanked me for my business. Excellent experience.

 + 1 moreThis was another excellent experience with an Angie's Listed company....maybe THE BEST. Amun Bey and his sister came by to provide an estimate within a day or two of my calling them. Turns out they were already working on a yard in my neighborhood. They had their crew out the very next day...such a nice, thorough crew, very polite, helpful and knew what they were doing. I was so impressed with them, I asked Amun to suggest additional things we could do and he said mulch would be a great next step. Again, he had his crew here thievery next day and a huge trunkful of mulch. They spent all day putting it down and getting it perfect. They cleaned up after and our yard looks amazing. I will definitely be using them again for additional work....my neighbors were so impressed with the way the yard looks, the professionalism of the crew and how quickly they responded to my initial call. Could not have gone any better....great company...owners are a brother and sister team and delightful!

 + 1 moreInitially I had bought an Angie's coupon for debris yard clean up off of Angie's list, but the job became too big for the allowed time, so I had to purchase additional time to finish the job. Then I decided it would be nice to add on mulch for the areas. They were very nice, and took care of the problems within 4 days. Neighbors stopped by to ask if they would be interested in doing their yards too. The yard looks nice, and I am glad the two large front yard landscaping beds are now clear of debris and ivy and have nice mulch to the area

 + 0 moreThe new broken piece was not broken to begin with, and they weren't supposed to install there - let me say again! update- I am going to take the company up on their offer to fix the entire problem, as it is too much for me. . I will change my review if the correction goes well. FINAL UPDATE- after trying to fix the mulch myself, I sent 2 messages via Angie's to this company, one with pictures showing how the mulch was installed, and asking to take them up on their offer to correct the problems. We never heard from them, so I had to hire someone else to correct the situation. I stand by my review, glad some people had good experiences but I definitely would not hire them, or purchase a deal for them, again.
Description of Work: I purchased the 10 yds of mulch and install with shrub fertilizer. I said at original meet and the day of service that I wanted the 10 yds placed around perimeter of yard - 8 yds had done it before so knew this should be enough. Said repeatedly didn't need it fancy or thick, wanted it around yard. Also said specifically not to place in my flower bed; said this 2-3 times. When I had time to check after service, it was placed curled at ends and very thick- also placed all the way up to base of every tree/shrub which I know is not correct and can kill plants. It was installed at about 3/4 of the yard because so thick, and - in my flower bed. Plus, they broke something and threw something else out into my yard. | |Because I was not able to check right when they called to say they were finished, (originally wasn't supposed to even be home- was leaving town after pt) I as made to feel it was my fault. Granted, they said a couple times they would come out and fix, so I will give them points for that. But I don't think ey understood that meant basically redoing the entire yard because they would need to spread the mulch thinner and remove it from my flower bed. And they couldn't fix what they broke and threw into yard. | |But my main point for giving this review is basically this- I feel I shouldn't have to babysit service providers. I gave specific instructions, numerous times, before the service was provided. And they weren't followed- simple as that. The people were very nice (though said would call before arrived and instead jus showed up), but again- why ask for information before if it isn't going to be followed? I was specific on what I wanted and where, it wasn't followed, period. They shouldn't need to come out and fix, it should have been correct the first time- why wasn't the person who my instructions were given to there to confirm the job was correct? | |And I hate giving less than positive reviews, because the back and forth emails always start (see it on here many times). But because specific instructions weren't followed I felt the need to post a review.

 + -1 moreIt didn't work out. They didn't charge any additional fees, and their work was about average. I had to wait three or four weeks for them to come out. When they came out, and they did it quickly. They didn't split the boards or take the nails out. Since then, I have taken care of all of that. It took them a long time. They put the stuff where we told them, but leaving the wood with nails in it wasn't professional.
