Kale Lawn Care

I can't say enough about Kale Lawn care. They have always done a fantastic job. The things that stand out to me that you may want to consider if you are looking for a lawn care company....(1) they reliably come on the same day each week (if weather prevents them from mowing Jeff Kale always emails to let you know when they will be there; (2) SAME workers come every time so they really know your yard; (3) EXTREMELY responsive; in the 3 years I've been a customer Jeff has responded to emails within 2-3 hours (SAME day)! I've had very minimal infrequent issues over the years but for the ones I've had, Jeff has taken care of them immediately. I can't comment on price because I honestly didn't shop around too much. I picked Kale Lawncare because of its excellent reviews and good reviews for pricing. I can say my price has not gone up in 3 years and it seems like a fair price for all that I get. You can't go wrong with them!!!

The maintenance continues to be acceptable. The new lawn died the first summer and to his credit Jeff restored it. From spring 2017 - fall 2017, I requested several times that we have new pine mulch put in It never happened. The lawn looks terrible again. Four small bushes put in during the spring of 2016 died. None were replaced and were simply removed, but we paid for them a year ago. Our sprinkler seemed to be leaking -- I asked Jeff to look at it and he said at first that it was fine. Our neighbor noticed it and her landscaper said the system was leaking under the box covering a faucet like apparatus. My water bill was $100 over the usual fee. Jeff referred me to the sub-contractor who referred me to a plumber who fixed it. Now, I have a bill from Jeff for the repair which he did not do. I think Kale had gotten too big to fast. His array of services has increased, but the service has declined. Today, I hired a new landscaper who has three other homes on the street. He is much smaller and less expensive but my neighbors say the service is excellent.

you called them out for an assesment of my yard for instillation of shurbs . He informed me at that time that he wouldn't be able to get me in for quite a while for my grass cutting but he would look at my yard and determine if he would be able to do the installation job but they were 3 to 4 weeks out which was fine. He told me that he would let me know in a couple of days with the quote with a list of items to be installed . He did get back to me in a few days but let me know via email that he would not be able to do the job. I wasted three days waiting on him to get back to me with a quote when I could have been looking for another company. I feel like my job was not big enough for him to consider, and I also feel that he could have saved me valuable time if he would have told me upfront he would be able to do the job.

Original date to start was 20 April, 2017, rained all week so put off for a week 26 April, came removed old grass, laid down sod, the grass looked pale green and not healthy, like it was old or had been under water, the workers who put it down told their boss it was "lush", they left and didn't leave any instructions for how to care for it. I call Jeff and he told me to water it 10-15 minutes in the morning and afternoon for two weeks. This grass looked bad, it smelled like cut grass does when it's left in a plastic bag. The grass was laid down in pieces that weren't joined together at the seams. The next week they decided the grass was bad and replaced it with new sod. The grass looked okay when it was put down, but still following Jeff's instructions for watering, it soon started looking bad, patchy and less green. Water it once a day now. They said they would be back to put down a steroid/fertilizer. Said I'll have someone there tomorrow, when they didn't come I called and they said he wouldn't be there till Monday, it was Friday. Came and spread fertilizer/steroids, this person said to not water it at all for a week. Okay, not watering. The grass looks like it's been over watered, while I've been following their recommendations completely. The water seems to just stay on top of the grass. Finally the grass looks horrible, it looked better before we began this project than it does now. He says they will come and put down 20-25 rolls of grass and then that's it, says it won't cost $100. Well the grass was put down, still not much improved. We water as directed by Jeff, not the workers because they come and put it down as fast as they can and then leave quickly. So we get a bill for $125 and the grass looks just terrible. Not gonna pay that, I'll provide some pictures. The grass seemed to both my wife and I to hold the water on top and didn't allow it to pass thru and go into the ground. I don't know why it didn't work, we followed their instructions completely. The first two pictures are from 9 July, 2017. The last picture is from 24 August, 2017. I would never use these people again, after the last time they put sod down they became less responsive and finally the only communication we received was for $125 for the last bit done.

Great. We are so pleased with me results. Jeff is always available by phone. He was helpful throughout the process and offered tips regarding plant choice. He brought me to nursery for plant selection since I didn't have much experience. He met with construction team who were building a garage and driveway to discuss grading and overall design. We specifically chose Kale Lawn Care for lawn maintenance with knowledge we'd be rehauling our entire yard. The maintenance crew is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and respectful. Finally, we're happy to use a local business.

Our Japanese Maple and shrubs were showing signs of insect damage that we felt needed immediate professional attention. Kale diagnosed the issue and provided excellent service to solve these problems in a timely manner. Fair Pricing and 5-Star Service!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

They have taken our difficult lawn that would not grow grass to being lush beautiful grass.

Installation was great. Jeff got us scheduled very quickly, and the crew showed up on time, finished the work quickly and was extremely professional. Even when a couple of items didn't go exactly as we had planned, which always happens in major home projects, Jeff and his team were very quick to take responsibility and make it right for us. Overall, a great experience working with Kale Landscaping!

They came out once in the fall to aerate and seed. Never came out again but have been sending us bills for months for services they didn't provide despite us calling multiple times to say they didn't perform a service. We have called them to cancel us as well, but we still continue to get bills. I don't know how they have an A rating with such poor service.

Great work ! Jeff Kale and his crew did a nice job of prepping the soil, adding additional soil as well as laying new sod in a large area in our backyard. Also trimmed a few trees. I would definitely hire again!

Showed up promptly to give me an estimate. Scheduled time to do work. Crew showed up when they said they would be there and performed all of what I needed done. I have never seen 3 guys work so hard and in a very organized manner. They were quick to respond to what i wanted.When they left everything had been installed and work site was immaculate. I would hire them again for sure.

They did what they said they would do and for a good price.

Jeff was able to find some good specimens and his crew did a great job of installation despite some minor timing setbacks/scheduling conflicts. This is the second time i have used Kale Lawn Care Services and i have to say, they are by far the most professional landscaping company i have dealt with in my 10 years in the south. Jeff personally ran the estimates and scheduled the work on this particular job, keeping me up on the project via texts and emails.

The cost of their services was about $185 a month. I disliked the fact that they tended to be spotty. Sometimes they showed up and things that they said they were going to do did not happen. I know it is a lawn so I can't blame them for everything -- things grow or they don't. I just kind of expected more out of them because they had such a high rating. I was with them for over three years. Jeff Kale is a great guy and my interactions with him were great. I have had three or four different crews that did the work. One crew was great and I would accept anything from them. The other three off and on I did not know about. I wasn't crazy about them. They are one of the highest rated on Angie's List, have gotten over 300 reviews and most of them are A's. I don't want to hurt them and feel terrible that things did not go well, but by the same token I felt like I was spending money and not getting my value out of it. I think I could have bought specials that would have been the same as their price.

It went well. They showed up on time for both appointments and did an excellent job. Looks great!

The crew did not show up until 5:15 PM!!!, after I had texted the owner who said they would be at my home around noon. They rushed the job in 3 hours and left at 8:20PM. The top dressing was of a poor quality. It appeared it was landfill compost, because it had plastic bags and garbage in the compost and tree bark. Not a quality top dressing compost that would melt into the existing ground, After 4 weeks the grass has come in very weakly and in some areas the grass isn't growing at all. The grass that I previously had has died. I texted the owner about the weak grass and areas and never received a reply. I've paid my bill and quit using the company.

It went very well once the rain stopped and they were able to actually do the work. They come back when the monkey grass and ivy start growing in again. It takes a few trips. The only issue I have is the 1/3 of the petunias planted in one section died but the same thing happened when I replaced them myself. For some reason the middle of that section doesn't like petunias! The neighbors think it looks a LOT better...and so do we. Great job!

Jeff looked at my drainage issue and suggested a way to improve it and get rid of standing water after a heavy rainfall. His solution was $10000 less than the quotation I had from the company who charged me $359 for an design plan. Jeff's solution worked as predicted and I now no longer have a drainage problem. I asked Jeff to quote on a landscaping plan with bushes, flowers and pine straw. The bid was $18000 less than the other company's and I am happy with the results. I don't have as many plants as were in the higher quote but we have enough to make the yard look a lot better.

Kale Lawn Care did a fabulous job trimming all the bushes and scrubs in our yard and spreading 40+ bales of pine needles. We needed fast service because our house was going on the market soon. They gave us an estimate and completed the work the next day. We had seven showings of our house the first day the first day it was on the market and the yard work was completed before the 1st showing. Awesome service.

Kale Lawn Care did a great job with our privacy tree project. Jeff's team takes great care in their work and the end result looks fantastic. We also used them for a prior project in which they cleared out a wooded area and planted new grass, which added significant acreage of usable space to our backyard. We have worked with Jeff and his team several times now and definitely plan to use them again for any future landscaping work we need done. In addition, Jeff is very responsive answering any questions that come up about a project which is very helpful in ensuring everything goes smoothly.

Jeff and team did a great job, they were on time and came in at budget,. I am very picky about my landscaping and after looking at the job they did I would highly recommend them.

I absolutely will continue to use them in the future. They do the best job in my neighborhood. They're reliable. If there's a problem, he answers the phone directly.

It went very well. Before the job started, Jeff came out multiple times to walk the site with me to ensure I had a clear understanding of the project. He is very responsive and made sure that all of my concerns were addressed upfront. Jeff's crew was very punctual, professional, and respectful. They did a great job executing the work exactly as discussed and even added some nice finishing touches. At the end of each day, they cleaned up the job site such that everything was in the same and/or better condition before leaving. At the end of the project, the guys walked the finished site with me to make sure everything was up to or exceeded expectations, which they certainly did.
