+ 1 moreI had always done my own lawn care. I now do not really have the time, but love being outside and enjoying our outside space. We had previoulsy used two other companies. One was overpriced and the other was very unprofessional. I was apprehensive about calling a third, but Jeff and team have been great. They do a nice job on the routine stuff and have been very responsive with the other ad hoc items I have needed. They are our lawn guys to stay now.
Description of Work: Jeff Kale and his crew take care of all of our yard needs and then some. They handle our routine mowing, edging and blowing. They have also removed a tree for me, taken out brush behind a fence line, mulch the flower beds and even spray killer down some poison ivy for my as I am highly allergic.

+ -1 moreKALE LAWN CARE they worked on my yard in September, October. I paid around $60. Everything was excellent except the attitude, they can't apparently deal with customers personal wise. He fired the customer. He was so great or whatever. But that's exactly what happened too. He was excellent, there was nothing wrong with that. He did the job. It says on the Internet he fires his customers. Excellent service, wonderful dude, unless your personal life gets in the way, that's all I can say about that. The yard looks great now. It's looks wonderful. He did what he had to do. Unfortunately when you have a personal issue, it gets in the way of whatever he feels. And I've heard this from other people too. Oh I'm sorry, we have an issue.

Nice discussion, went over all our thoughts and needs, agreed on a price and time frame. Work performed again, like clockwork, and they are here every week to maintain our yard.
Description of Work: They had a full calender, managed to squeeze us in to not only get our yard in shape and plant new grass in late October, we are now on their weekly service contract. WE have great new GREEN lawn in the middle of winter! Highly recommended! Thanks

His staff didn’t do what they were supposed to do and then he had to come back twice. Their lawn maintenance work has been fine.

+ 0 moreInitially, our project was delayed due to all the rain in September. However, once the work started the project was completed quickly and thoroughly. The team that was working on our yard was very helpful and wanted to make sure they got everything we wanted perfect. Unfortunately, we had a HUGE rainstorm right after all the work was completed (on the same day). To our dismay, all of our seed washed away and we were devastated. I called Jeff and without hesitation he came back to reseed and aerate. His team came back out and took care of the yard. The month of October gave us NO rain and so our seed wasn?t coming in as we had hoped. I called Jeff again to ask what we should do?and without question he sent his team back out to reseed and aerate. He told us that he wanted to get it right and he asked no questions. Jeff?s customer service is amazing! We have been working with him now for 2 years and have been very pleased with his attention to detail, customer service, and fair pricing.
Description of Work: Jeff and his team performed the following services: Killed off all of the existing Fescue grass that was full of Bermuda in both the front and back yard of approximately .35 arcres. De-thatched the entire front and back yards and then aerated the areas and reseeded with Fescue seed. Re-graded the entire front yard and pulled out A LOT of Lirope grass that surrounded two large landscape beds. They re-graded several times to make sure the drainage was going to work well during rainfall.

+ -1 moreI was very impressed with Jeff Kale, he was very easy to work with: always punctual, returned phone call quickly and sent email confirmation of estimates within 24 hours. His crew was professional and worked quickly. I had decided not to have my flower beds edged, but unfortunately the crew had already finished when I noticed. Jeff removed the charge from my bill. There was also a mix-up in which four trees to mulch. Jeff solved the problem immediately, and did not charge me for the extra tree. My experience with Kale Lawn Care was very positive. I would recommend them without hesitation.
Description of Work: Kale Lawn Care trimmed bushes, weeded and mulched two large flower beds and mulched around four trees.

+ 0 moreThe owner was on time for the initial appointment and was very quick to respond with his estimate. His price was fair and was in line with the 3 other estimates I received. I choose this company based on the responsiveness to my request for an estimate, the detail of the work to be completed, and the price. After talking with Mr. Kale indicating that we had chose his company for the job, I received a call within a couple of days of when he could work us into his current schedule. The work was to be done within 2 weeks and he gave me an exact date that the job would be done. The work was to only take 1 day and his crew showed up on the date he had indicated and got the job done!!! I came home at lunch time and the yard had already been cleared and I spoke with the crew about a few details. After arriving home in the evening, I was really impressed with our newly sodded yard and the great job they had done with the drain!! His crew went above and beyond what we had previously discussed and I had 2 messages from Mr. Kale inquiring about how I thought everything looked and if I was happy. I arrived home late that evening and immediately returned Mr. Kale's calls to let him know what a great job they had done. He stated that he would be by the next day to also check out the job. I would DEFINITELY use Mr. Kale's services again and would not hesitate to recommend him to friends!! Which I have already done!! It has been a month and the yard still looks fantastic! Mr. Kale even e-mailed me instructions on the watering schedule as well as when to do the winter fertilization.
Description of Work: Cleared and Sodded the front yard and installed a drain system for the low part of the yard and a downspout.

+ -1 moreI called Jeff to tell him about a warranty issue with one of the trees Kale planted back in February of this year. He was quick to call me back and set up a time to meet at my house (the next day when it was convenient for me to leave work) After seeing the tree, Jeff said the tree would be replaced at no cost to me. After checking with the nursery, Jeff let me know how long it would take to get the replacement tree. It actually came in earlier than expected and the tree was planted the next week. Jeff stands behind his warranties. I am happy with the replacement tree! The other trees and shrubs that Kale planted back in February are doing very well. Kale had also transplanted a couple of shrubs which are much happier in their present locations. The garden wall installed around my crepe myrtles adds definition to that part of my yard. My neighbors, family and friends often comment on how good my yard looks since I began calling on Kale Lawn Care for my landscaping needs.

+ -1 moreWorking with Jeff and his team was a great experience. The entire team was very professional. During the course of the job, the job site was well maintained. Jeff himself was on site the majority of the time. After the sod was placed, I had some challenges with some of the sod dying. Jeff was also keeping an eye on how well the sod had taken and immediately replaced the pieces that appear to be dying. Jeff refused to take the final payment until both he and I were completely satisfied with the project. I continue to use Jeff's services to maintain my lawn and landscaping. If I could come up with one complaint I would share it, however I have none.
Description of Work: I had my yard re-sodded (front and sides). I also had some landscape lighting added and all my bushes trimmed. Jeff's team removed the existing "grass" and prepared the yard on a Friday then completely laid the new sod the following day. To provide a perspective on the size of the job, the re-sodding required over 25 pallets of sod.

+ 1 moreOverall, Kale performs an adequate job cutting the grass on a weekly basis, edging and killing the weeds. I asked them to add mulch and was not impressed with the distribution. They added mulch where is was not needed and not enough around my tree bed. I do not ever get follow up communication to ask if I am satisfied and I do not have the energy to complain. The price is too high for the quality of service that Kale provides.
Description of Work: I am currently still under contract with this vendor. The owner of the business does not perform work on the property. He is a very nice personable salesman. I waited until I had enough time to give an adequate evaluation of this service provider. My initial research involved trying to decide whether to go with a small landscaping company or a commercial provider. I have already had experience with institutional lawn providers with sketchy results. I learned of Kale through Angie's List. The owner was very prompt in meeting me for the initial assessment. I liked that because some of these vendors do not feel it necessary to meet you in person. The overall problem I have with lawn contracts is being assured that I am getting what I am paying for. I was dissappointed that this vendor does not provide notices after they have come out to service the lawn. Luckily, I work from home so I can see when the guys come out. Otherwise, I would never know when they come to add fertilizer or weed control products. I now have a dog and it is very important for me to know when my lawn is being treated. But, apparently, this operation is not organized for that level of administration. In one instance, I asked for additional service to have about eight plants installed in my front yard. The men came by and had not been instructed to remove the plants that were already there. Once we got past the confusion, the work commenced. When the work was completed, I noticed that a hole was dug into the clay soil and the plants were simply stuck into the ground with no topsoil at all. I will have to do this job over because the plants are not growing. My sister and I planted two Knockout rose bushes on the side of my house and they are growing so beautifully. I had never done this before. However, I thought I would save my labor and get the "experts" to handle the front of my property. Needless to say, I am very dissappointed with this provider.

+ -1 moreTheir price is a little higher than other companies we have used for the same type of service. I was willing to pay more, if the work is done correctly. I had pointed out some things that I would like for them to change, like picking up sticks from the lawn that they are stacking in the naturalized area instead of removing them. Also, they don't fully blow the leaves and debris off of our sidewalks, despite the fact that I've mentioned it them a few times now. I asked the owner if he'd like to come out and I could show him exactly what I had asked for, but he has not taken me up on that offer.

+ 0 moreKale Lawn Care did a great job! Scheduling was a breeze, they showed up when they said they would and did a great job. Since we had rain prior to the scheduled date for aeration I was unable to get the lawn mowed before they came, so they mowed it as well and still did it all for the price we agreed to. I have scheduled them to come back this year and will continue to do so. I mow my own yard, but if I get in a pinch in the future and can't get to it, they will be my first call! Highly recommend them!

+ -1 moreWhat I noticed about Jeff is he showed up on time to do the estimate. I always pay attention to whether a contractor shows up on time. If they cannot do this then I can expect the job to reflect this. He delivered the estimate when he said he would. He showed up to do the job when he said he would. I was out of town so Jeff sent me pictures of the job. When I got back in town I noticed they hadn't used the tractor to scrap as we had discussed. Jeff never flinched, he applogized. Jeff sent a tractor out the next morning first thing. The gentleman who showed up (Sergio) was an expert at driving the tractor and did a fantastic job. Jeff had told me more than once that he would ask me if I was happy and would come back until I was satisfied. That's the kind of person I like, customer oriented. I still have not received a bill, which is a good thing. I called him and told him I am satisfied and he can send a bill. Great job Jeff! John

+ -1 moreCALL JEFF KALE! WE ARE THRILLED! Recently our lawnmower stopped working and we needed someone to come in and take care of our lawn before it grew into a jungle. Where do I start? I'm a firm believer of Angie's List now because I chose Kale Lawn Care based on fabulous reviews. From my first call, Jeff picked up the phone...yes, a human picked up the phone! How great is that? He was extremely accommodating and very pleasant. His crew just left five minutes ago and I couldn't be more pleased! They were like a hurricane of activity..going up the steep inclide at the back of the yard, edging everything perfectly, making sure they cleaned up grass with the leaf blower...it looks beautiful! Bottom line, I don't think I want to fix my lawn mower! THANKS JEFF! We'll be calling you for future landscaping work! Keep up the great work!

+ 1 moreKale Lawn Care follow through on what they say they are going to do. They are very punctual. They are always there and when they couldn't get to our yard they came back the next day even though it was off their normal route to make sure the yard got done. They are reliable.

+ -1 moreSo far, things have gone well. My wife and I have been impressed with Jeff's responsiveness. He arrived for the evaluation early after confirming with me that this was okay. I have been happy with his communication style and professionalism. As he promised, his crew has arrived on the same day, three weeks straight without issue.Initially they did not cut all of the grass or shrubs on my property. It can be confusing since it is unclear that my property line ends where my neighbors driveway begins with part of the lawn shared. However, I was able to promptly get in contact with Jeff Kale and they got it right during the last cut and also trimmed the other side of the shrubs and small trees.I have walked my property with each cut and so far so good. It is refreshing to have use of my lawn on a regular basis versus the inconvenience of having to spend my weekend cutting it or having the unreliable neighborhood kid cut it. I look forward to seeing what Jeff and his team can offer with regard to landscaping in the future. Overall I am very satisfied to date.
Description of Work: I had an evaluation for weekly lawn service, which will be paid on a monthly basis. Services will include lawn care, shrub and small tree trimming a few times a year, and leaf pick up for just over half an acre.
