We are extremely disappointed with the hardwood floors sold by Moeen Niazi of Carpet & Flooring Liquidators of Pineville, NC, and installed by Axcel Gomez of Legacy Floor Services. We originally ordered 3.75-inch manufactured hardwood. Due to delays on the seller’s side, our closing was postponed. By the time we closed, Moeen Niazi informed us that they had sold the flooring we had ordered. The installer discovered that the 5-inch manufactured hardwood was defective. Moeen Niazi offered to install and finish unfinished hardwood floors at no additional cost. At no point, did Moeen Niazi or Axcel Gomez discuss the pros and cons of using different sealing materials on the unfinished woods. I only learned later that a salesperson should discuss different options in terms of look and durability, etc. We made it very clear to Moeen Niazi and Axcel Gomez that we needed to be in the house by Saturday, September 14. At no point, did Moeen Niazi or Axcel Gomez tell us that the work could not be completed in a timely or workmanlike fashion. Throughout the week of September 9, I visited the property every morning. The installation crew did not arrive before 11 a.m. On Wednesday, September 11, when I arrived at approximately 8:50 a.m., a crew member was there removing the sander for another job. As of Friday afternoon, the installation crew was still measuring and installing toe molding, and no polyurethane had been applied to the floor. Axcel Gomez subsequently stated that, it takes at least 24 hours between coats of polyurethane and, therefore, at this point there was no way they could be finished by Friday as promised. Axcel Gomez never informed us that they could not complete the job and/or that they needed more time. When I inspected the allegedly finished floors, I immediately noticed a milky/cloudy appearance in one of the rooms. In addition, Axcel Gomez failed to replace the covers on all of the HVAC covers. When I attempted to replace them myself, I discovered that all of the toe molding had been mis-measured and the HVAC did not fit. On Monday, September 16, I informed Moeen Niazi about my concerns, and he told me that he would have the in-house inspector at Carpet & Flooring Liquidators, Mickey Ledford, come out to take a look at the floors. On Friday, September 20, Moeen Niazi and Mickey Ledford came out to the property. Mickey Ledford barely said five words while he was there, and failed to answer my questions about what the installation process should have been and how long it should take. When I asked if the work could have been completed based on when the workers were present, he basically shrugged his shoulders. Moeen Niazi acknowledged that there were some rough patches, but told me that the milky/cloudiness was the result the light hitting the floor. Moeen Niazi offered to have Axcel Gomez come back to buff the floors. I paid $650 to have a certified NWFA inspector come out to inspect the floors. The independent inspection report confirmed the milky/cloudy appearance of the floors caused by solvent trap due to Axcel Gomez applying finish over stain, sealer, or finish before the previous coat had dried. As the floors have continued to cure the appearance has continued to degrade. White lines and cracks are appearing between and on the floor boards, and the finish is cracked/wearing off around where the nails were driven in order to secure the boards. I have also identified other debris in the finish, including dust and what appears to be a nail. Based on the condition of the floors, it is apparent that Axcel Gomez failed to follow industry practice: (1) they did not let the stain or sealer dry before applying the first coat of finish resulting in a cloudy appearance; (2) they did not sand and clean the floors between coats of finish which would have removed the debris and allowed the finish to adhere; and (3) they did not apply a second, and even perhaps a single coat of polyurethane finish, throughout the house.

They had initially measured a bedroom. They didn't sell me enough carpet. They refused to put down new tack strips. A new crew had to be called out. They then insisted they would need to use 3 seams and not just the one that was originally agreed upon and like it was in my old carpet. They eventually removed my old carpet and pad, didn't put down the new carpet with one seam, and left.
Description of Work: I bought carpet from them for a bedroom. It was supposed to be installed by them and wasn't.

I hired Carpet and Flooring Liquidators to install 697 sq feet of exotic hardwood. They arrived on time and completed the work in one day. I was pleased with the work and the quality. I even tipped each installer $20.00. The problem came when we used the diswasher the next day. They had installed it but did not hook up the drain hose. Within seconds the floor was covered with water. Luckily we were in the kitchen at the time. While my wife put down bath towels I got a shop vac and screwdriver and removed the dishwasher and vacuumed up as much as possible. Next I put a heat lamp in the cavity behind the dishwasher. I phoned the manager and he agreed to come check things out. When he arrived in a day or so he measured the moisture content at 16% compared to 11% in unaffected areas. By then all the boards in the kitchen area had cupped dramatically. He asked that I check the area daily and make notes which I did. The moisture content dropped over a weeks time but not enough per the manager. I left the dishwasher pulled out for a week with the heatlamp on the floor behind it where there were no boards, so much of the water went under the flooring. I purchased a dehumidifier and put it under the house and plumbed 30' of pvc drain pipe and put a box fan under the wet area. The fan has been running down there for over a month. While I was under the house the insulation fell on me dumping a large quantity of water on my head and back. I had to replace several bundles of insulation. More than a month later the floor is still 14% moisture. The manager agreed that they were responsible and would replace the affected area. He scheduled his installer to come make the repairs to the affected area on three occasions but they never came. Each time I spoke to him he was polite and understanding but it appears that I am getting the run around. It has been more than two months since I paid for the installation and it has not been resolved. I have taken time off to meet them, spent additional money and many hours due to this mistake. I have been overly understanding and trusting.

Response from Carpet & Rug Superstore
We contracted with Mr. (Member) to provide and install 697.2” of solid ¾” Kempas hardwood. Mr. (Member) was to remove all of the existing floors before we installed. He removed all of the wood except under the toe kick beneath the cabinets. He did not have the proper tool so we did this for him at no extra charge to expedite the installation. When the job was complete Mr. (Member) was very pleased with the wood and the installation. The following day Mr. (Member) called and stated that the dishwasher had spewed water on the floor due to the fact the drain on the dishwasher was not properly hooked up. WE DO NOT MOVE OR HOOK UP DISHWASHERS. We do not do any plumbing. Mr. (Member) told me the steps he was taking to remove the moisture and I concurred that we was proceeding correctly. I went to the house to see the floor and noticed the floor was cupping, which occurs when water is introduced to wood. I left my moisture meter for Mr. (Member) to monitor the readings. The next time I inspected the floor the moisture readings with almost normal and the cupping had gone back to normal. It is quite unfair to blame us for a problem we did not cause. We will be more than happy to do anything to address any problems but it cannot be at our expense. We are willing to this at our cost. Thank you Michael Ledford Carpet and Flooring Liquidators

We didn't buy anything there. My girlfriend had seen a guy there and she wanted me to go look at the carpet and I did. When I went it was a different guy and he didn't have time to mess with us so I wasn't real pleased with that. The guy was rude and didn't have time to mess with us. It was a different guy and the guy she dealt with was nice. It was so hot in the place because it wasn't air-conditioned. It was a great big warehouse and it was terribly hot in there the day I was there. Her experience was different because she talked to a different guy but she liked to have smothered when she went in there. The original guy was there but he was with another customer. I wasn’t too impressed with them.

Tim's crew of two guys did the removal/installation in one day and they moved the big furniture around as necessary and disassembled/reassembled the beds. Their work was fantastic! The new carpet looks great and it is far greater quality than the stuff that came out. They did absolutely no damage to anything - furniture or walls. This is certainly more money than I had expected to pay for three bedrooms of carpet, but Tim assured me that this was his best price on what he called very high end carpet. Overall we're very satisfied with the results.
Description of Work: Tim's crew came out and removed the old carpet and padding from three bedrooms and our master closet and replaced with new carpet and padding matching the carpet that the same provider had installed in our lower level about five years ago. We have been so happy with our carpet that we wanted the same pattern/color/quality in our bedrooms on the main level.

The guys who came out to install the carpet were very helpful and professional. They even helped to fix a squeaky piece of flooring before the carpet went on, which was something that they didn't have to do.
Description of Work: They researched some information on a piece of carpet that we liked and found it. They removed the old carpet and installed the new piece for us.

The carpet was ordered in March and I was given 2 installation days and when installation time came I was told the carpet did not pass inspection. In May the carpet arrived and was installed. After the carpet was installed I went to their store and told them I saw seams in it and that I wanted someone to come out and take a look. The seams in my master bedroom looked especially bad, it looked like three pieces of carpet were put together. A manager came out and looked at the carpet and said he thought it was just a seam. He claims the installers did a bad job. The installers had to come out and explain the installation and they said it was not a seam but a defect in the carpet. They offered to install new carpet but it was the same carpet with the same defects. I quickly called the manager back and told him the new carpet also had a seam in it. I told them I wanted them to redo the carpet in the master bedroom and I would forget about the other rooms!
Description of Work: I hired them to install carpet in my entire home, 7 rooms.
