They removed damaged floor molding and replaced it with new. They also removed and replaced trim around many of my doors. Pete's electrician fixed a fan that other electricians could not. Besides painting the trim they replaced, he painted the ceiling downstairs and the garage.

Quote and work was done on time and in a very professional manner. Clean-up was excellent. Applied promised discount due to amount of invoice.

Work appointment at 9:00 AM. Al and his assistant were backing their truck into the drive way at 8:55 AM. Went right to work and completed work including cleanup in about an hour. Pete is very easy to deal with and provided a quick estimate, fast turn around - scheduled the job less than a week after I approved his bid. Happy with job results. I would not hesitate to use this company again.

His quote was the lowest one that we received. He was very knowledgeable and thorough. He gave us a very detailed quotation and was very professional.

Bergen's did an excellent job. The company owner, Mr. Pete Bergen, was always available and very responsive to my needs. His price was very reasonable. His work crews are very professional, and they cleaned the work site after every day on the job. Once they started the job, they continued until completion. I have used Bergen's several times, and will continue to use them in the future. I can always count on Bergen's to perform at a high standard.

Mr. Bergen was very nice and punctual for his appointment. He was very punctual with getting back to us with an estimate. His estimate was very thorough and easy to follow. His company was not selected because he was a little pricey.

Workers were competent, but did not clean up well, The original price and things promised; shingling repair over bay window and along side of garage were poor. Estimate (6750.00) and final bill (9575.00) was off by almost 3000.00. He did not remember the original estimate and had to point out to him that some of the work was not extra, but included in the original estimate. The discovered wood damage was not an issue and I had no problem paying for that repair, but given the repairs and cost, I could have had my entire house painted for what I was charged, my house was only painted in spot areas. He quoted 2000.00 per window for 2 replacements, which I declined. I received no updates on the price change, nor any discussion prior to receiving the final bill. As I said his workers are competent, but I did not like what he promised in customer service vs. what he delivered.

Siding replacement was good, but spray painting was like a beginner. Pete's team spray painted the siding and the spray was heavy in some places and ultra thin in others. Left a blotchy look. Without personally coming out to inspect the results, Pete tried to say via the phone that it was the type of paint used (I only use high quality Sherwin Williams Duration gloss). I've personally done a lot of painting in my time and I know when a job is not good. I was billed the full amount and I still paid the invoice on receipt. I stood by my committment to pay promptly and its siimply disappointing that he didn't stand behind his to do the job correctly. Note: Since job completion, I've had others comment about the poor quality of the painting.

all went as planned.... jacked up deck and replaced 2 of the support posts, poured concrete to bring front landing up to normal hight and level and removed numerous pieces of rotting masonite siding. replaced with hardi palnk. caulked and painted. only surprise was the crew finding 750.00 additional siding that needed replaced... not observed on initial inspection. have used bergens' several times and the workmanship is excellent.

This is a late review. Approximately January 2013 timeframe, I received quotes from 2 Handy-Man companies that I found on this site. The job entailed the removal of four sets of double doors (8 doors) and replacing them with two set of four windows (8 windows). They told me the job would take one week. Their prices were in line with each other, and were approximately $7,500.00. I thought this too high and decided to wait. In April, I decided to find a carpenter, since it is carpentry, and get the job done. Again, I went to the list and decided to call Bergen Contracting and Repair Inc for a quote. I called and got the company answering machine and left a message. Pete Bergan called me that evening and we set a time for the estimate. He arrived early and we looked at the project. He measured, photographed and asked numerous questions; What type of windows, did I want him to match siding, match outside and inside paints, etc. I also asked make two other minor repairs for me. The estimate was approximately $4900.00. The work was performed in 2.5 days; 2 sets of double doors per day. and each set of new windows were 'dried-in' the day that set of 4 doors was removed. The carpenters (2) were absolutely excellent. I watched them periodically and their attention to detail was great. Ismael and his partner were prompt, courteous and 'worker bees'. It was a job quite well done. Mr Bergen came out to inspect the job and the completed product. He only accepted payment AFTER COMPLETION. No upfront deposit. I was impressed. I am particular about the work done since those windows are on the lakeside of the house and provide the view from the master BR and the living room. I will Bergen Contracting and Repair Inc. again, and I strongly recommend him.

Very professional service and top notch quality workmanship. Thank you Pete and crew! We used this company to prepare for home sale with results beyond our expectations. After home inspection, we called them back to help address extensive bathroom shower repairs needed. Upon re-inspection, the comments we received were, "your contractor did a fantastic job, some of the best work I've seen." Our concerns of repairs and limited time frame became Pete's concerns; he was in daily contact with us and met our deadline with high quality workmanship!

They are very reliable, responsive, and they do good work. They have reasonable prices.

I have had a good experience with them. We use them all the time. We just used them and we got them from your list, and we have been using them ever since. They are very professional. They give excellent quality. They do just beautiful painting and I would say they really can paint. They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Everything went rather well. The final product looks great, and the wood rot is gone. Pete was great to work with, as was Chris who did the final paint work the following day. They quoted a price higher than many, but not the most expensive. We chose them because we liked Pete and trusted that his men would do an excellent job, and they did.

The job went well, completed and in a good time frame. (Though Pete never told us when the work was planned to be started, we found out the workers were going to start when they showed up at the house!) The work was ok- I struggle on how 'great' the work was due to us saying we would do the finishing work ourselves (caulk and paint). We went through 2 full tubes of caulk.. not sure we expected that many gaps, but next time we will just pay for a 'finished' product. The bill/invoice came promptly once the jobs were finished, though no update or communication about the bowing in the roof. Turns out the bowing was 'ok' but would have been nice to have been informed without asking. Wasn't a fan of the cigarette butts or nails left on the ground at the work site.

All work was to quote and expectations.

We have used his services several times. He came out within a day for the estimate. He does great work and we plan on using him for this work.

This was a total professional experience from the quote to the finish. Pete worked with us on the price and we were able to save $200 by keeping the chimney cap. It wasn't rusted through and only needed to be sanded and painted with rust proof paint. The old wood was replaced with Hardiplank to last longer and deter woodpeckers. We appreciated the great clean up work by the crew and are very proud of our "new" chimney. Highly recommend this company for quality work and professionalism.

He was excellent. The experience was pretty good. The guy didn't get in a hurry and he even sealed it too. They were very conscientious.

Mr Bergen provided a reasonable estimate on cost and timing. His team performed the services well and cleaned up the work area upon completion. I have been very pleased with my doors. I even asked for an estimate on another home improvement project and will definitely consider Bergen to do the job.

While my wife and I decided to hold off on this project, I wanted to comment on Pete's professionalism during the estimate process. The project we were looking to take on was replacement of all our exterior (plastic) shutters with wood shutters. Pete was able to come before our appointment, but made sure to call to make sure that was okay rather than just show up. Before the estimate process even began Pete went into great detail regarding what materials price we could expect for wood shutters, different methods of install, and the pros and cons of the wood vs. the plastic/vinyl ones we have. He even went into detail about the preferred wood to use to avoid rot. While the price for this was a little steep for us (and Pete was very upfront about that too), I would have no qualms about consulting him for any future project.

He has done a great job on anything he has done for me. He is usually available within a reasonable amount of time. His workers are also good about cleaning up after themselves. He may not be the cheapest but his prices are competitive.

From the initial bid process through the performance of the work, it was a painless process for us. Bergan's performed the work quoted, did the power washing and repairs first to our satisfaction then proceeded with painting. The paint products are recognized as top quality in the industry. They were very neat and professional, no landscaping was impacted. They came when they committed and finished when they said they would; and, most important, I would use them again.

Received a phone call back in less than two hours. Got some great tips and overall had a wonderful conversation regarding my situation. No pressure, they provided their POV and left it in my hands to call them back for an estimate or not. Enjoyed the conversation and assistance that was provided. If I need actual work done, I will likely call them back in the future for this project or others.
