MISUNDERSTANDING AS TO ONE EXACT AREA FOR REPAIR. THE SUPERVISOR & I UNDERSTOOD WHICH AREA, BUT PETE MEANT ANOTHER. THE SUPERVISOR, PETE AND I WORKED OUT A SLIGHT ADDITIONAL COST TO ME. THE SUPERVISORS AND PAINTERS WERE WONDERFUL. PETE WAS PROMPT IN RETURNING MY CALL. PETE USES HIS OWN KIND OF SHORTHAND TO INDICATE WHERE WOOD NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, SOMETIMES CONFUSING TO CUSTOMERS.

Overall very pleased with the work, including the estimate process. Had several other handyman services who would not show up for estimates, or show up and promise an estimate but never hear back. Mr. Bergen was pleasant to work with and very professional. He was one of the few that were willing to provide a detailed written estimate and actually deliver it on time. It was also nice to be able to call an office and speak with a human being. His crew did excellent work and was always willing to answer my questions. They were even able to repair band sill and sub floor rot without breaking or taking up my tile floor. I did spot a couple of minor finishing touches that needed to be addressed (it was a big job) and they came back when they said they would and took care of them. Would definitely recommend them as a choice and would consider using them again.

Bergen Contracting is top notch. They were honest, prompt, and did a high quality job on all the work they completed for us. We priced several companies, and their pricing was fair and reasonable based upon the other responses we received. We found them on Angie's List and would highly recommend them. We will be using them again in the future for additional work.

They did an excellent job painting our house. They were prompt, finished quickly, and were very flexible with us when we changed trim color (prior to them starting but after initial paint color discussion). They continued to be very responsive during the process to whatever we needed and asked. We plan on using them again in the future for their other services.

Painters arrived on time and worked very long hours to get painting done on time. After the work was completed I noted some drips and missed spots under cabinets in kitchen and someone came back the next day to repair. Workers were tidy and always polite. The estimate I received from Bergen was less than I had received from other companies and the final result was very good, with one exception. The paint in the bathroom has always become marked up by water (one spot of water leaves a dark mark that only goes away when wiped down). Bergen had the bathroom repainted twice but the problem remained. Eventually I just gave up on the whole thing and I still have the problem. No refund, etc. was made.

We bought an older house with ugly yellow countertops. Company refaced with laminate to match new appliances. Over time laminate has peeled up in some places and had to be reglued. Also, when laminate was applied, edges were not properly sanded in place and appear unfinished. I also recorded a review of this company's interior painting work, which was far superior to the kitchen work. I would rehire, but NOT for carpentry.

I THOUGHT THE PRICES WERE A LITTLE HIGH.

PETER BERGEN RETURNED PROMPTLY MY REQUEST FOR AN ESTIMATE AND CAME OUT THE NEXT DAY. SHOWED ME THE MATERIAL HE IS GOING TO WORK WITH AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING. I RECEIVED THE ESTIMATE THE NEXT DAY VIA EMAIL AND THE SECRETARY EVEN CHECKED BACK BY PHONE WHETHER OR NOT I RECEIVED IT. THE ONLY REASON WE DIDN'T HAVE THE WORK DONE IS THAT WE ARE NOT GOING TO STAY IN THE HOUSE SO WE DIDN'T NEED THE ''FOREVER'' VERSION WHICH OF COURSE WAS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN JUST REPAIRING THE WOOD.

WE REALLY DIDN'T LIKE HIS ATTITUDE. WE WEREN'T HAPPY WITH THE JOB, AND HE SORT OF BRUSHED US OFF. THE WORKMEN HE HAD WEREN'T BAD, BUT THEY DID MISS APPOINTMENTS. IT TOOK THEM 3 MONTHS TO GET THE JOB DONE BECAUSE THEY SAID THEY WERE TOO BUSY. THE WORKERS WERE PLEASANT AND NICE PEOPLE OVERALL.

OUR DECK LOOKS BETTER THAN IT EVER HAS! THE CREW WAS GREAT. THEY ARRIVED ON TIME, WORKED NONSTOP, ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS AND LEFT MY YARD CLEAN EVERY DAY. WE FEEL THAT THE PRICE QUOTED WAS EXTREMELY FAIR, THE WORKMANSHIP IS EXCELLENT, AND WE WOULD NOT HESITATE TO RECOMMEND THEM TO OTHERS.

PETE CAME OUT ON TIME FOR THE FIRST APPOINTMENT AND DIDN'T MIND GETTING DIRTY TO THOROUGHLY INSPECT THE SILL AREAS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. HE HAD NO PROBLEM AT ALL HAVING THE WORK INSPECTED AND PULLED THE PERMIT WITHOUT HESITATION. WE SCHEDULED THE WORK 5 WEEKS OUT AND HIS EMPLOYEES SHOWED UP ON TIME. EVEN THOUGH THE WORK TOOK LONGER THAN EXPECTED, I WASN'T CHARGED MORE THAN THE ESTIMATE. THE GUYS CLEANED UP ANY DEBRIS EACH DAY (NO CIGARETTE BUTTS IN THE DRIVEWAY, NO NAILS, ETC.) AND WERE VERY COURTEOUS. I CALLED THE CITY INSPECTOR AFTER THE JOB WAS COMPLETED AND EVEN HE SAID HE WAS IMPRESSED WITH THEIR WORK. THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST I'VE HIRED. I USED TO WORK IN CONSTRUCTION AND I KNOW GOOD WORK WHEN I SEE IT. THESE GUYS ARE GREAT!

THEY CAME TO MY JOB, TO GET MY KEYS, AND GET THE JOB DONE, AND THEY WORKED WITH MY TIME SCHEDULE. I TRUSTED THEM ENOUGH, FROM WORKING WITH ME EARLIER, TO TRUST THEM WITH MY KEYS. I RECOMMENDED THEM TO MY NEIGHBORS. 2.THEY CONTINUE TO DO A GOOD JOB.

NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE. STARTING IN DEC 04. APPOINTMENT WAS MADE AND NOT KEPT. INSTALLERS WERE LATE AND DIDN'T WANT TO BE HERE. POOR INSTALLATION. JAN. 05 - TOOK WEEKS FOR MR. BERGEN TO RETURN TO CAULK THE OUTSIDE AND TO HAVE THE TRIM REPLACED ON THE INSIDE. MARCH 05 -- DOOR LEAKED SEVERELY. IT TOOK TWO WEEKS FOR HIM TO COME TRY TO REPAIR. NOW IT IS LEAKING AGAIN (6/7/05). A WATERFALL WHEN IT RAINS - ON THE INSIDE. CALL HAS BEEN PLACED AND WE WILL SEE HOW LONG IT TAKES THIS TIME. HE IS VERY NICE WHEN HERE BUT SLOW TO RESPOND TO ALL CALLS.

ALL OF BERGEN'S EMPLOYEES ARE EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL, ALWAYS ON TIME, ALL OF HIS QUOTES ARE REASONABLE AND NEVER RESULT IN EXTRA FEES, THE INTERIOR IS ALWAYS LEFT AS CLEAN AS WHEN THEY ARRIVED - NO MATTER WHAT THE PROJECT. HONEST AND TRUSTWORTHY, I WOULD RECOMMEND AND USE HIM AGAIN.

THIS WASN'T AN EASY JOB BECAUSE OF THE TIGHT SPACES. IT TOOK SOME IMPROVISING AND THEY DID A GREAT JOB.

WE WERE HAPPY WITH HIM AND HIS EMPLOYEES, BUT I WAS UNHAPPY WITH THE SUBCONTRACTORS THAT THEY USED.

VERY PROFESSIONAL OVER THE PHONE AND IN PERSON. HIS EMPLOYEES WERE VERY COURTEOUS AND DID GOOD WORK. OVERALL A GOOD EXPERIENCE.

WE HAD HIGH EXPECTATIONS, AND THEY MET THEM, PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS.

THEY DID NOT FILE DOWN MATERIAL WHEN THEY INSTALLED A NEW WOODEN BOARD. I MENTIONED THE NEED TO FILE IT DOWN, BUT THEY JUST PAINTED OVER IT. OTHERWISE, THEY DID A GOOD JOB AND THEIR PRICE WAS COMPETITIVE.

THEY ARE VERY REASONABLE IN PRICE, VERY RESPONSIVE, WORKED US IN RIGHT AWAY, AND FINISHED ON TIME. THEY ARE A VERY PROFESSIONAL COMPANY.
