AMBASSADOR FENCE & CONSTRUCTION

Ambassador fenced in my backyard and did a nice job on the work. They began and finished on time and did not even require much lead time. This was about 18 months ago, and at the time I remember being thoroughly satisfied. The problem came recently when the gate warped so badly that my dogs could squeeze through the opening when it was shut. I had chosen Ambassador over other contractors in large part based on a long explanation of the degree of quality, specifically about the quality of the gates they make and how their design is more costly but also more durable. I paid about a 25% premium over other quotes for this reassurance. When I called about the gate problem, Bob's response was that warping is normal and he told me I was on my own. He explained the potential fix and said it would be about a $15 & 10 minute fix for him, but also acknowledged that I may not be able to find the part at the hardware store and that it would be a lengthier project for me to do myself. He was unwilling to consider having someone take a look. He was not rude about it, and I don't think his position is unreasonable, but when he sold me on customer service and quality, I don't think he lived up to the standard he set for himself. I might use him again, but not if it meant paying him any more than a competitor. (this is the third house where I have had a fence built). For the record, I am now searching the site for an addition to the fence from Ambassador and I am not calling them.

Bob came out to do an estimate for us and showed us pictures of his past jobs. He got back with us with a price and we scheduled the job. They actually got to come four days early! The guys worked hard all day and knocked the job out in a few days. When one of the gates wasn't shutting properly, Bob made sure it was right by coming back out after the job had been completed. They also came back out to close in a space between the aluminum and wooden fences to ensure our dog couldn't squeeze through. Customer satisfaction is a high priority with this outfit. I would highly recommend Ambassador Fence.

Terrible experience. Called and spoke with Mr. Miller. He was very engaging. He set up an appointment time with me to come and measure for an estimate and to give us some guidance in selecting the appropriate fencing option for our project. Mr. Miller took down my name, address, phone number and detailed directions to my home. Then, he told me he'd see me the next afternoon. I never heard from him again.

THE PROJECT WENT GREAT WHEN THEY GOT HERE. BOB CAME OUT LATE MARCH, BUT HAD A HARD TIME GETTING A QUOTE FROM HIM. I HAD TO KEEP CALLING AND REQUESTING. HE WAS VERY NICE ABOUT IT, BUT IT DELAYED THE START OF THE PROJECT. AFTER 5 WEEKS, THEY CAME TO DO THE FENCE AND NOTICED A LARGE AMOUNT OF POISON IVY (WHICH WASN'T THERE IN MARCH WHEN HE LOOKED AT THE YARD) HE COULD NOT DO THE FENCE UNTIL THE POISON IVY WAS GONE (UNDERSTANDABLE). A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER, HE CAME BACK WITH A CREW TO WORK THE RETAINING WALL. THEY DID THE RETAINING WALL IN 2 DAYS... 60FT LONG, 3FT HIGH... HAD TO CUT OUT A LOT OF CLAY TO INSTALL. IT LOOKS GREAT! MEANWHILE, I WAS KILLING THE POISON IVY, AND IT TOOK 1.5 WEEKS. HE GOT A CANCELLATION AND WAS ABLE TO COME BACK SOONER THAN ANTICIPATED TO DO THE FENCE. THE POSTS WERE IN AND SET ON DAY 1, THE FENCE AND PICKETS WERE UP DAY 2. I HAVE UNEVEN TERRAIN AND THE FENCE LOOKS GREAT!!!!! MAKE SURE THE GATE IS WHERE YOU WANT IT BEFORE THE POSTS GO IN.

This was a wonderful experience and Bob's work is truly beautiful. I've had my fence about 10 months now and people driving through the neighborhood still stop me to give me compliments and ask who installed it.

I called and left a message for Bob on Sunday. No return call by Tuesday morning, so I called again. Scheduled an appointment for Wednesday at 7:30am. I had a conflict come up, so called him Tuesday afternoon to reschedule our meeting for Thursday instead. No call back by Tuesday evening I called again. He answered and we rescheduled for Thursday at 8am. He was a no-show and I haven't received a phone call.

Bob Miller is devoted to quality and is a gentleman. This job was not complex, but he gave it every bit of his attention to detail and quality construction. The fence is perfectly graduated with the land slope and very symmetrical. The gate is exceptionally well constructed. Company does much more than fencing. I am planning to use Bob for additional work which includes railing and textured painting on a large porch/stoop.

I too am a service contractor, I figured I would 'pay' a 'brother' from church to do fence work needed on my property. I asked him to come out to give me a quote on having 1.5 acres of fence put in around my property, he missed our first appointment, but made the second appointment 30 minutes late. Once on site he was very professional. Made great recommendation of installation methods and on the different fence materials that could be used. He said he would have quote completed within a week. Months went by, I made several calls, and I even passed comments in church,eg: 'where's my quote, Bob?', still no quote. Has been six months. I finally had work done by someone else. Could be that he might have thought, being I was from his church, that I wanted installation completed for-next-to-nothing. I do not know. If he did not want the work, a simple phone call would suffice. But none. Very disappointing experience overall.

Bob was extremely nice when he came to our house to provide us with an estimate. He even called the fence builder to see if he could get us a discount. We also had an irrigation system put in by someone else and he took the time to coordinate with our landscaper to make certain the fence and irrigation wouldn't interfere with each other. It took 2 months for the materials of the fence to come in, which was a bit bothersome since we had to pay for that upfront, and we had to call Bob a couple times to have him get us a status (but we never had a problem getting a hold of him). Once the fence did arrive, Bob and his partner did an excellent job. Because of a lot of rain, they had to deal with our very saturated, muddy yard and despite that, the fence ended up looking beautiful, and it was put up in a reasonable amount of time. It was obvious that they took pride in their work. Bob and his partner were very easy and pleasant to deal with, and we would definitely use them again.

I DECIDED NOT TO BUILD THE FENCE BUT THE EXPERIENCE WAS GOOD WITH THIS COMPANY, OTHER COMPANNIES DID NOT KEEP THEIR APPOINTMENTS.

WE LEFT NUMEROUS MESSAGES THAT WERE NOT RETURNED. WHEN WE FINALLY GOT HIM TO COME OUT TO OUR HOUSE TO REVIEW THE PROJECT, HE TOLD US A DATE THAT HE WOULD BEGIN (ONE WEEK LATER ON A THURSDAY OR FRIDAY). THE FOLLOWING THURSDAY, WE CALLED TO FIND OUT IF HE WAS COMING OR NOT. HE TOLD US THAT SOMEONE ELSE HAD "SLIPPED IN FRONT OF US" AND THAT OUR FENCE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT A WEEK OR TWO. WE WENT INTO ANGIE'S LIST AND FOUND ANOTHER FENCE COMPANY WHO CAME RIGHT OUT AND TOOK CARE OF US. THE OWNER WAS VERY GOOD TO US DURING THE ORIGINAL INSTALLATION OF THE FENCE, BUT THIS TIME HE DID NOT TREAT US VERY WELL, ESPECIALLY NOT THE WAY YOU SHOULD TREAT REPEAT CUSTOMERS. WHEN OUR LANDSCAPER WAS REMOVING THE FENCE, I PUT IN AN "EMERGENCY CALL" TO HIS CELL PHONE AND HE NEVER CALLED BACK. WE WILL NOT USE HIM AGAIN OR RECOMMEND HIM.

I THINK THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND DID GOOD QUALITY WORK. THEIR PRODUCT IS OF GOOD QUALITY TOO. WHEN I HAD A PROBLEM WITH A GATE HE RESPONDED BY MAKING THE ADJUSTMENT.

AFTER A DELAY IN GETTING FENCE INSTALLED IT WAS FINALLY COMPLETED. THE CLEAN UP AT FIRST WAS NOT GOOD SO I HAD THEM TAKE CARE OF IT AGAIN. I HAD A FENCE WITH ARCHES INSTALLED. UPON COMPLETION OF THE FENCE I NOTICED THAT THE FENCE IS NOT SYMMETRICAL. ONE SIDE OF THE FENCE HAS THREE ARCHES AND THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE HAS ONLY ONE ARCH. I ASKED THE OWNER TO MAKE THE ADJUSTMENT SO IT LOOKS THE SAME ON BOTH SIDES. HE SAID HE COULD DO THAT BUT HE WOULD CHARGE ME MORE MONEY. I ASKED THE OWNER WHY HE DID NOT DO THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE AND HE INFORMED ME THIS IS THE WAY WE ALWAYS DID IT.

WE HAVE A FAIRLY LARGE BACKYARD THAT IS NOT LEVEL AND THEY DID A GREAT JOB. THE FENCE LOOKS AWESOME! THEY DO A LOT MORE THAN FENCES, THOUGH, AND WHEN WE DECIDE TO DO SOMETHING ELSE OUTDOORS WE WILL DEFINITELY BE GIVING BOB A CALL.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! AFTER 3 WEEKS OF GOING OVER WHAT WE WANTED, WE DECIDED TO GO WITH THE CONTACT SO I CALLED HIM TO LET HIM KNOW HE GOT THE JOB, LETS FINALIZE THE DETAILS AND SIGN A CONTRACT, HE NEVER RETURNED MY CALL. AFTER A WEEK I CALLED HIM AGAIN AND CAUGHT HIM ON HIS CELL, HE SAID HE DIDN'T HAVE HIS APPT BOOK WITH HIM TO SCHEDULE A TIME TO GO OVER THE CONTRACT AND HE WOULD CALL ME BACK THAT AFTERNOON. TWO WEEKS LATER, HE STILL HAS NOT RETURNED MY CALL. IT ALSO TOOK HIM WAY TOO LONG TO GIVE ME A QUOTE. HE REALLY JUST WASTED MY TIME ALL THE WAY AROUND.

THE OWNER GAVE ME SOME GOOD IDEAS BY SHOWING ME PICTURES OF OTHER JOBS. I THOUGHT THIS WAS REALLY HELPFUL.

NEVER GOT BACK WITH HIS PROMISED ESTIMATE

I AM VERY PLEASED WITH MY DECK - BOB WORKED WITH ME DESIGN AND LAYOUT AND IT LOOKS GREAT. HE HAS A GREAT EYE FOR DESIGN. ONCE WORK STARTED ON MY DECK, BOB AND HIS CREW WORKED EVERYDAY TO GET IT FINISHED AND REALLY PAID ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS AND THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF THE DECK. ALSO THE WORK AREA WAS STRAIGHTENED UP EACH NIGHT AND WHEN THEY LEFT THERE WAS NO MESS. ONLY PROBLEM WAS IN RETURNING PHONE CALLS TO FIND OUT WHEN WORK WOULD START. (DELAYED BY A MONTH OF RAIN) BUT BESIDES THAT, NO PROBLEMS. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.

DID GREAT WORK, CLEANED UP AND LEFT PROPERTY IN PRISTINE CONDITION. EVEN CLOSED THE DOG GATES! IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT FENCING, CALL THESE PEOPLE FOR A QUOTE. THEY DO QUALITY WORK FOR A FAIR PRICE. THEY MET THEIR EXPECTED INSTALL DATE EVEN WITH ALL THE RAIN WE HAD.

VERY COURTEOUS, KIND, VERY GOOD QUALITY FOR THE PRICE. OTHER COMPANIES QUOTED THE SAME PRICE FOR LESS VALUE. GREAT TO WORK WITH.

HE DID A HAND WRITTEN ESTIMATE WHILE HE WAS HERE AND SAID HED MAIL A FORMAL CONTRACT ONCE HE GOT IT TYPED UP. AFTER A WEEK AND A HALF, I REACHED HIM ON THE PHONE. HE SAID HE WAS SORRY AND SAID THAT IT WOULD BE IN THAT DAYS MAIL. AFTER ANOTHER 5 TO 7 DAYS, I CALLED BECAUSE I NEVER GOT IT. HE CLAIMED THAT HED MAILED IT. NOW I WONDER WHY ID EVER WANT TO HIRE HIM?

THEIR BID WAS THE HIGHEST AMONG ALL THE BIDS RECEIVED, BUT THE COMPANY WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL!

THEY HAVE LOTS OF BUSINESS SO MAY BE DELAYED IN RESPONDING TO CALLS. THEY ALSO HAVE A WAITING LIST WHICH WAS BETWEEN 2 TO 3 MONTHS LONG WHEN I USED THEM, SO BE PREPARED FOR DELAYS.
