* Long/ detailed explanation* I am giving a D only because the first job I had with them was done in a professional and timely manner. I had some roots growing in to my plumbing and within a day Jeremiah came out to fix the problem. Which I am still incredibly thankful for because many other companies were not. That same day we discussed some other things that I needed done. Following a few weeks later, after I got my money together I had Jeremiah come back out to quote me on replacing some old copper pipes, replace and install a new clean-out drain, and put in a back-up valve. On January 10th, 2018 I put half the money up front to start the job which was required by the company. Jeremiah came by, explained some stuff to me and told me that locators will come out within 3-5 business days to locate and would come Monday to possibly start digging. Come Monday, no one showed up or called. I waited until Tuesday afternoon to call because I am understanding, and figured things got mixed up. Jeremiah calls me later in the day on Tuesday to explain that he did not mean to tell me that he would start on Monday that it would all depend on the locators. He explained that he was still waiting on locators and would contact me by the end of the week. Come Friday afternoon, I still did not hear anything, so I gave them another call. Jeremiah calls me back and explains he was still waiting on one more locator. I kindly asked which locator because when we talked he explained which colors needed to be marked, and I was positive all of them were marked. He became frustrated with me and got an attitude with me. Stating, he could not start the job until he received all the appropriate paperwork. I told him that I understand that, but I figured he would want to know and maybe he could contact them about the paperwork considering we were going on two weeks since first payment. He then explained to me that come next week the lady would contact me to set up a time to start the digging. I received no phone call at all that week and come Monday I called Jeremiah. He said that she was supposed to call me on Friday to schedule for Thursday and proceeded to ask me if that was okay. Told him, I would work things out because I would like the job to get done as soon as possible. Jeremiah also states that he has been busy with other jobs. Jeremiah calls me Thursday morning saying they could not do the job because it had been raining. It non-stopped rained for several weeks and they just informed me that it was problem. The following weekend, I heard some crazy noises coming from underneath my front yard/ porch. I had to call the emergency number because I was worried. Keith answered who was also the digger for my project. He said there was nothing he could do to help that unless something was clogged. Which nothing was clogged just crazy loud noises. I further told him my frustrations and I did not understand how they did not start anything to do with my project. He further explained why he couldn't dig while it was raining or if it rained during the 3-day period. It made complete sense, but I was still questioning as to why they haven't at least started down stairs. He had no answer for that and suggested that he would talk with Jeremiah and he would call me on Monday. I once again, received no phone call. I call Tuesday and spoke with the lady and she said the reason she did not call was because I spoke with Keith. I told her I did not understand why they have not started downstairs that is not affected by the rain. She said she would speak with Keith or Jeremiah to get some answers. Nothing for a few days and then get a call explaining that the downstairs can get done but they have been busy with other jobs. It made me feel like my job was not a priority and they were putting me on the back burner. Finally, the next week on February 21st, 2018 they start the downstairs. Jeremiah and two other gentlemen come to the property to start the down stairs. Jeremiah explained that the two guys were going to work on the downstairs, but he had to leave to go to another job. Also stated that he had to leave his last job to come to my house to talk to me. Made it seem like I was an inconvenience to him. Also, the two gentlemen got done with a job early and that is why they were there. Jeremiah also stated that Keith would be coming by in a few hours to relieve one of the gentlemen and finish the work. Due note, because I do not think I stated before, they estimated these two jobs to take 4-6 days to be completed. Keith called me to tell me he was on the way and told him I would like to speak with him in person. Keith gets there may be around 1ish. We speak briefly, and he once again explained why he could not get the front yard started. He goes to go downstairs, and the two guys come up to say they were finished. WOW that was quick! Yay! Keith before he left said that they probably would not get the front yard started until next week because it looked like the rain was not going to clear out by then. I receive a call the next morning from Keith saying the weather looked decent and he wanted to start digging. He was like let’s hope and fingers crossed that it does not rain for three days. This is where I felt even more disrespected. I can be a bit of a talker, I was explaining to them when I was a kid I remember a big hole in the front yard and I was pretty sure it was a septic tank. Keith told me that I should not say that to the inspector because I could be responsible for making sure it was filled with dirt. Keith said, if you give me a grand I will fill it in for you. Why? It was more than likely already filled in and just wanted more money. He also stated that they did not quote me appropriately and I should have been charged more for this job. I felt it was completely unprofessional at that point. I ended up just brushing it off and walking off because I just wanted them to do the dang job and finish at that point. They finished the front yard that day as well and Keith said it can take a day or two for the inspector to come out. Once the inspector comes out, they can fill in the pipe. The lady at Pendergrass left me a voicemail that evening saying she contacted the inspector and gave them my phone number, so he could come inside and down in the basement. The next morning, I slept in a bit and at 8:45 got woken up to the excavator filling in the pipes outside. I received no phone call from the inspector which worried me. I did call to make sure the inspector came out and he stated that he was only there to look at the outside and he could see into my house where the clean-out and back-up valve was. He did not need to sign off the inside work. By 10, they were finished, and my front yard was wrecked. Which I knew was going to be considering the work that needed to be done but it looked sloppy. Keith told me that it was because he did not have much room to maneuver around to make it look better. Also explained how the settling stuff goes etc. Keith knocks on my front door and says he is all good and needs payment. I said okay, I will call here shortly just needed to get a few things in order considering it was such a spur of them moment finish. He said, the lady does not take payments over the phone and he needed the money right then and there. Which was different from the first go around, said they upgraded to some new payment method that goes through their phones. I thought to myself, wow okay. They can take over 6 weeks after receiving my first payment but cannot even give me 30 minutes to get things situated to pay the other half. He waited on my front porch while I figured stuff out. They sure were adamant about getting their money asap which worried me even more that things were rushed, and inspector literally slapped a sticker on (which is what Keith said to me). Lastly, I received the receipt the other day and according to receipt services were rendered on January 10th, 2018 (correct) and due date was February 9th, 2018 which is false. Payment was given on February 23rd, 2018. It took 6 week and two days for the job to be completed. I now also have to pay extra money to get my neighbors yard fixed because there are tread marks in her yard. It is not a lot, but they should have still been a little cautious about someone else’s property. I can deal with mine, but I do not want to cause problems with my neighbor.

I was quoted a price of $85.00 per hour plus parts. They charged my wife $127.50 and they were there less than an hour and used no parts. I think they took advantage of my wife because I wasn't at home.

Response from PENDERGRASS & HOLDER PLUMBING
Service was completed. Payment was made. No counter offer is necessary. Our service technician had at least 1.5 hours (including travel time to the job) on this service call. Perhaps (member name removed) is unaware that our technician has to wait for the cabinet to be cleared out before he could begin installing the faucet and that our technician was asked to unstop an upstairs sink while he was there. The charges are correct and are happy to explain further if (member name removed) so desires. Andy Benifield-Office manager

The person who came out to do the estimate did not seem to know any more about plumbing that I do! The quality of the work was at best average. They had to come back at least twice to fix problems with various parts of the job. Most significantly the installers left a plastic part in the sewer holding tank which then became jammed in the impeller of the pump necessitating an emergency service call. The sewer alarm (supposed installed new) also failed resulting in yet another service call. During that service call the plumber broke the cover of the sewer holding tank (which the company did replace at their own cost.)
Description of Work: The company installed a new water service from the main to my house. They also did some preventive maintenance on a sewer lift pump.
