The Century Customer Care is a maintenance plan for your home or office heating and cooling equipment. It is prepaid and will help eliminate those crisis situations on extreme temperature days. At the heart of the program is our expert technician. They will thoroughly clean and inspect all functions and components of your gas furnace, electric furnace, air conditioner, and heat pump. No matter what brand your system is, we can keep it operating at its peak. These inspections will be twice a year and heating and cooling will be checked each time.

Description of Work: This is a long review, but very worthwhile to read if you need an honest opinion of Century Services in Hickory NC. |The behavior of Ted, the Service Manager can only be described as unprofessional. |I paid ahead for a service contract with them, and I had a problem with my gas furnace ignition. Their tech named Fred was very honest with me and told me he was not able to diagnose the problem and needed to consult with Trane, the manufacturer. He then stated that he had installed a switch that was not the correct switch for my system, and he didn't want to leave it in too long, but that it would prevent my furnace from misigniting. After a few weeks I called to find out the status of the issue. I was then told that the part could stay in my system and no further action was necessary. I asked that Ted the Service Manager come to my house to meet me to discuss. He arrived around 4:30 pm. I was detained slightly at work but was on my way home when he arrived. My wife tried to explain the problem to him, and asked him if he wanted her to call me on my cellphone. He replied to her "Not Really". He then left the house with no action taken, other than telling my wife the system was fine. |When they sent me an invoice, I sent a letter to them asking for assurance from Trane that the part was ok to leave in my system, since their tech Fred had told me he didnt want to leave it in too long. In my letter I stated that I would pay the invoice in full when they provided me written assurance from Trane that the part was ok, since they had told me they consulted with Trane. When they received my letter, Tanya the person who schedules the appointments, called me and asked if Ted the Service Manager could meet with me. I of course said yes. I met Ted at my house and we went down to the basement to look at the furnace. I explained to Ted that I just needed something in writing from Trane that the part was safe in my system. Without my permission, Ted reached down, opened the furnace and removed the part. I asked him what he was doing and he said he put the old defective part back in because I "don't pay my bills". He then said he would not provide the information from Trane because I was "no longer a customer". He then left my house, leaving my system with a defective part. I then filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Ted responded to my complaint with several misrepresentations. |Century Services has since refunded to me the money that I had given them for payment in full for my 2014 service contract. |In conclusion, my opinion is that Fred the tech is an honest person. He was honest enough to tell me he needed help to properly diagnose the problem. |Tanya, the person who schedules the appointments was always courteous and professional. |Rick, the owner of Century Services, spoke with me on 2 occasions, but never offered any assistance to get the matter resolved. He let Ted handle the situation. |Ted, the Service Manager, is not a professional. He obviously thought that I was not entitled to the safety information that I was requesting. He removed the component from my furnace without my permission. He knowingly left my system in a potentially unsafe condition. He accused me of not paying my bills, when I obviously had paid ahead for the service contract for 2014. When I asked him why he wouldn't speak with me on the phone when I was on my way home from work, he said it "wasn't neccessary". I thought it was very necessary. In my opinion he regards the customer as a nuisance when they ask for information. |Please visit the Better Business Bureau website and read the details of the complaint and draw your own conclusions. They were on time and very knowledgable. They fixed the problem with my unit with parts they stocked on the truck. I would definitely use them again if the need arises.

I received three quotes on a new heat pump. All quotes were comparable equipment specs and warranty, just different brands. I was fully expecting to do business with Century, as I had good experiences with repair services. Phil Pringle, former owner of Pringle Heating and Air did the quote. He was very friendly, pleasant and seemed very thorough in his inspection of what I had and our heating/cooling issues. Quote was not delivered when initially promised, but I did receive it within a week. I was surprised to find their quote was significantly higher than others I received - over two thousand higher than lowest, and over a thousand from the middle quote. Needless to say, I chose to have another company do the work. I did provide feedback to them via email.
Description of Work: they had performed repairs on my old system. Usually responsive when other companies weren't. When they indicated that the system needed repairing, I got a quote from them.

Description of Work: After being released from the hospital over the weekend and my husband had a prior appointment I was at home alone, just for a few hours. Sitting in my den I started to smell something like rubber burning, the room started to fill with smoke and the smell was terrible. I called the FD and they had me leave the house immediately with my two dogs. I called hubby and a friend, as we live in a rural area and I was pretty much alone. The FD response was quick and the ambulance, that had transported me last week all came. They went through the house and thankfully there were no flames. They said it seemed to be coming from the ductwork. They shut off the breakers to the a/c and heating until, and went over the house thoroughly to make sure all was okay. I cannot say enough nice things about our local services. Well I knew I had to call someone so I did call Century Services again, was real pleased with them from a prior service almost two years ago. I asked for the same tech, Fred, and they gave me a time that he would be out. He came without that time, calling first to let us know he was on his way. As usual he was thorough, clean, a genuinely nice young man who did a fantastic job and the motor and relay on our heat pump had to be replaced, the servcie call was reasonable and the price of the parts as well. This is an unbelievably honest company and Fred is an asset to the company as well. If you need work done on your a/c or heating don't hesitate to call Century Services. They also have a yearly maintainence program which we will most likely sign up for in a few months, as our financial situation allows.
