"Never before have I been so thoroughly convinced this is a company I would never hire again. My first experience with Atlantic Glass and Mirror (AGM) was positive enough - they removed a heavy glass shower door and replaced the rollers, which had corroded. I was out of town when they sent a team to replace the door in its track. AGM repaired the rollers. When I returned home, I noted that the door was re-installed with great satisfaction. Then I slid it open to find a hole in the shower basin that extended through the sub-flooring into the crawlspace below. Their “explanation”: A worker stepped in a preexisting hole that he could not see due to a rug in the shower. That was a completely unnecessary lie. The issue was that when the workers found the hole, they should have stopped the installation, informed me of the hole, and allowed me to repair the floor. Instead, no one at AGM mentioned to me there was a hole. I had to ask AGM about it, and they responded by essentially telling me I was lying about both the hole and the absence of a rug concealing it. For the first time in my 74 years on this earth, being accused of lying is quite shocking. Tragically, COVID-19 was raging, and AGM was the only game in town available to me. So I was stuck with AGM, forced to ask them to return and remove the door so I could replace the sub-flooring, shower pan, and floor tiles. AGM’s owner wanted me to pay a trip charge of almost $150.00 for the removal because “the hole was not their fault.” Once I repaired the floor, I reluctantly called upon AGM again (still no other choice) to replace the shower door (another trip charge). When the workers left (giving me no opportunity to inspect their work), I found the glass door would swing back and forth within the frame, and the track was sliding on the curb. Again, AGM took no responsibility for those deficiencies or the poor quality of their “technicians” work. AGM returned (another trip charge), removed the glass door, dismantled the frame, replaced a missing gasket, and reassembled the frame and door. It seemed like solid work, even though the door still moved back and forth within the track more than it had before AGM removed it for the first time. According to the AGM technician’s invoice, a missing part allowed for that movement. This morning, while cleaning the bathroom floor, I found the missing part behind the bathroom bidet. Thankfully, I could put it on by myself, without the “help” of anyone from Atlantic Glass and mirror (and another trip charge). I will never hire Atlantic Glass and Mirror again, and I do not recommend their work. I also have no commendations for their poor work ethic. AGM’s reliance on prevarication and equivocation is an unfortunate permutation to taking responsibility for their deficiencies."

Carolina Home Exteriors spent 23 years on Hwy 70 E just outside New Bern, NC, where our outdoor sunroom display was hard to miss. We want everyone to know that we ARE STILL IN BUSINESS, we have just moved to a nicer building at 252 KALE RD. just a mile up the road, across from Creekside Park. We still have the same great products and the same professional staff building quality home improvements for Eastern North Carolina. We invite you to visit us anytime or ask your neighbors about us, chances are, we have helped them make a home improvement dream come true.
"I was very pleased with my experience with Carolina Home Exteriors. Our job was difficult as we were replacing old windows on the 2nd floor and the home exterior is asbestos siding. Brian and Danny were wonderful. The job took longer than anticipated but that is because they had to be very careful working around the asbestos siding. Their work was top notch, excellent quality. They cleaned up beautifully every day, vacuuming debris and cleaning the new windows. They were very professional in their interactions with me throughout the week. In fact, I was so happy with the quality of the framing they were doing around the window exteriors, I asked them to do an additional job to frame the inside of a window in our bathroom that is going to be tiled soon. I would definitely recommend them and use them again."

Whether you should repair or replace your window screens depends on the severity of the damage and the screen’s age. For large tears or holes or multiple points of damage, replacing your screen may be more cost-effective than attempting to repair the damage. If your screens are more than 10 years old, they may continue to give you issues after repair, so it’s likely worth replacing them. We recommend hiring a local screen repair technician, as they will have tools on hand for a repair or replacement and can recommend the best course of action.
It’s possible to make minor screen repairs yourself using a waterproof adhesive for small tears or a screen patch kit for larger tears and holes. However, it’s usually a better option to call in a professional window technician. It’s very easy to use too much waterproof glue, resulting in a messy appearance that might demand a full replacement anyway. A screen repair technician will not only be able to carry out clean repairs and patches that aren’t obvious, but they can also let you know if replacing your screen is a more cost-effective option.
Window screen repair costs around $310 on average, ranging from $100 to $480, depending on material, the type of window screen, the window size, the accessibility of the window, and whether you need to replace the window screen frame. You can save money on window screen repair costs by using a more affordable material like vinyl or fiberglass, rescreening instead of replacing them, and swapping multiple screens at once to combine labor costs.
Screen repair is always worthwhile, as tears and holes in your windows and door screens are unsightly and allow pests and debris into your home, rendering the screen useless. The faster you repair your screens, the faster you can open your windows and doors freely to let the fresh air in. Consider repairing multiple door and window screens during one appointment with a screen repair technician to make the investment and labor costs worth it.
Some hardware or specialty window stores in your area may repair damaged screens, but it’s less time-consuming, more convenient, and potentially more affordable to hire a screen repair technician to come to your home to do the work on-site. The screen technician will have the tools and experience to get the work done the same day, and they can inspect other screens while there to help avoid repeat repair costs in the future.
