I wanted to take the next step and start working under my own name officially. Im not to good with technology so advertising has been hard for me I'm hoping with Angie I'll be able to start finding good jobs. I love to see my customers satisfied with my work. My time working with El Regio Contruction has been nothing short of frustrating. Our initial date was postponed due to a family issue on his end. He was supposed to be here 8 am sharp on a Wednesday. He did not show up until about 4pm. Well past the time to accomplish anything. Throughout the day he would respond as if he’ll be there to at least start something it wasn’t until he showed up around 4-430 that he said he couldn’t do anything because it was late in the day. He should have communicated that earlier to me and not lead me on. I missed out a a fulls day of work waiting for him. And in today’s economy no one can afford to miss an unpaid day of work. I’ve also learned after receiving quotes from other sources that he was overcharging. He was padding his labor rates because he did not supply any material. I paid him $1,200 for a patch work on my roof, a job that I currently did not need immediately, a job that did not even take 1 hour to do. The size of the repair was about the roof of a standard car. Nothing too drastic. I asked him to replace/repair the area around the kitchen hood vent . He swore that the leak was being caused by my shingles. Luckily it rained later that day after the job was done and there was still a leak. He then tried providing a sketch claiming it was coming from the ridge of the home. As I stated to him I didn’t pay you for guesswork, I paid you for assurances. I called someone else to come out and fix it. They informed me he didn’t work on what I thought was the cause of the leak at all. He also tried to charge me another 1200 to install a front door and replace a piece of subflooring. Once again he isn’t buying the materials for this price. I paid for the $850 door, $100 shingles, the $200 vent, the $25 subfloor. He supplied nothing. He didn’t even have to transport the material (minus the shingles. I went to Lowe’s and purchased them for him and he took them to his vehicle). I found someone else on Angie’s list. The same site I found him to do it for a fraction of that mainly because I already purchased the material. His poor professionalism also delayed the work of other contractors by a week. because they were waiting on him to do his part.Simply put I would not do business with him. He will come up with ways to extend a job or charge you more.
Description of Work: Fixing a leak around the kitchen fan which wasn’t performed at all due to recommendation from the Angie Pro.

Response from El Regios Construction Company LLC
Hello everyone! I would like to comment that when me and [Member Name Removed] agreed to work together there was a lot of mix ups. I got a call from my daughter’s school the morning I had to work for him and his wife. They told me that she was sick and throwing up. So as a father I had to take initiative action and prioritize my daughter for her well being it is what we all do as parents. I did in-fact reach out to [Member Name Removed] apologizing about the delay and lack of professional, I explained that I had to take my daughter to the doctors office so she could be treated. Doctors offices aren’t accurate with time it took longer than expected. Before I knew it was going to take so long, I told him I would be there asap and get started. We left the doctor’s office late. I went that day after taking my daughter to the doctors to [Member Name Removed] home I live in Newport,NC his home is about 45 mins from me. I went to talk to him about the job and what to we could agree on and that Im sorry about the delay. We agreed on Sunday, so that way he wouldn’t miss anymore work. He sent me a message the Saturday before about contacted someone else to fix the door and floor for security reasons. Which really only left me w so little to repair I told him if he paid the price that we agreed on I would still go.(I have to pay my helper as well) and as much as he needs his repair I need to profit as well. If I had got paid just for the little things I wouldn’t have made enough to pay the worker and me. If you don’t know construction work it’s not a 5 min process and down. Also I don’t know any construction company that provides materials in their labor cost? I wouldn’t profit anything if that’s the case. I tell customers to purchase material, in cases of some people in past references not wanting to pay for material and labor after job is done, basically them scamming free work and materials. The $1200 was not just for the roof it was for all the work I was going to do and I had a helper - Joists on the floor - Banding the joists - Removal of the front door - And storm door - Removal of the siding - The install the 2 door - And then put the siding back - Removal of the laminated floor and putting pack - Fix the shingles/leak I never tried to charge him another $1200 for that I don’t know where that came from. I’m only human from my experience just about a good 85-90% leaks occur from roofs. His roof isn’t in the best condition so from my point of view the damage on the roof and the where the leak was coming from lined up. After he told me the leak was still there, I was going to take a look at it because I was still going back on Sunday to continue working on what was left of the project. And of course I would take a second look at what the potential problem would have been. He stated that he need to put a pause in the project, I sensed the frustration. I assumed he was going to contact me again when he wanted me to go back. The roof was not a waste of job done. And of course I would have continued on with the project and looked more into the leak to get it fixed but the way the communication was at the end I was getting you didn’t want to continue, I was really just waiting to be summoned back. I do apologize I feel like this was all just miscommunication.
