I hired Sean to perform a structural inspection ($195) of my house before I signed the purchase agreement. He provided an estimate of repairs for termite damage, installation of a moisture barrier, sealing off the crawlspace, and new doors for the crawlspace entries. After moving into the house, I hired the company to perform the work as estimated. The crew was punctual and worked steadily all day for 4 days straight. It was alot of money to spend, but gave me a peace of mind, especially, when I immediately noticed the floor was more sturdy and the house lost that musty smell. And I no longer have to worry about critters living under the house.

We had an absolutely horrible experience with this company. We were referred to Sean by our real estate agent and it turned out to be a disaster. The Facts: 1. He charged a $245 fee to bid the project and put his engineering stamp of approval on it. I didn't know the bid would cost money until I received the invoice in the mail. 2. He bid the project for 2 week timeline. A month later it still wasn't complete. I was paying for my family to stay in a hotel during the renovation. 3. He underbid the refinishing of the wood floors by $2,000. I ended up taking on that project in order to prevent him from cutting corners in other areas of the project. He still cut corners. 4. I had to inform him multiple times on what the contract stated to prevent him from cutting corners. Ex. When he replaced the back door he tried to reuse the old siding and trim, even though the contract said it would be replaced with new. He tried to patch a section of water damaged drywall instead of remove it and replace as stated by the contract. He tried to just add CO detectors instead of replacing the current smoke alarms with combination units as stated by the contract. 5. He said the city did not require a permit for this project. When things started going bad I called the city to double check his work they had no recollection of his conversation with them and stated that the renovation clearly needed a permit. He then failed the city inspection due to his work in the crawlspace. 6. The backdoor that he replaced leaked profusely and didn't fit right. He refused to take responsibility for his work and always tried to blame someone or something else for the problem. I eventually had to bring in another contractor to rehang the door and had no problems with it leaking or its fit since. 7. The drywall patch that he did was terrible. It sticks out like sore thumb every time I walk into our kitchen. 8. The paint job is the worst that I have ever seen. He spilled paint all over the floors, to include my freshly sanded floors, tile, countertops, cabinets and sinks. There were paint drips everywhere and his ability to cut in was atrocious. There was wall paint on the ceiling and ceiling paint on the wall. When I brought in companies to bid to fix his work. Most refused to touch it. 9. He also cleaned out his drywall putty tools in our sinks. When I cleaned out the traps under the sinks they were over halfway filled with the putty. He had complete disreguard for our home. 10. He was unable to replace our broken window during the month that he worked on the home. 11. In the bid he stated he would fix the moisture problem in our crawlspace with a code approved method. When he was done we still had major moisture problem. There were puddles of standing water throughout the crawlspace due to our HVAC lines dripping from condensation. When a permit was finally pulled and an inspection done, he failed the inspection due to inadequate vapor barrier coverage. 12. He also attempted other projects outside of the written contract that also went horribly wrong. He replaced a tub and in the process chipped two of my tiles. He didn't mention it until I pointed it out to him and then he tries to fix it by placing a large piece of quarter round along the side of the tub. It didn't even cover up one of the chips. He attempted to install an undermount sink. When he was done there was large gap between the sink and the granite counter-top that he tried to fill with caulk. In summary, his craftsmanship and integrity is well below that of the industry standard.
Description of Work: Provided contracting services for drywall repair, interior paint, refinish wood floors, smoke detectors, crawlspace improvements, replace broken window, install oven, pressure wash small section of brick, replace back door, subfloor, threshold, small section of wood floor, and the carpets.

The inspection report included detailed observations, conclusions, and recommendations. The report gave us confidence to continue on with the purchase of the home.
Description of Work: Sean conducted a structural inspection of a property that I am purchasing in New Bern. As a result of a home inspection, there were some questions of some structural integrity. Sean conducted a thorough examination and provided a detailed report via email. Since I am purchasing the house sight-unseen from Hawaii, his services gave us great peace of mind.

Very professional. Arrived as scheduled. Clear communication. Within estimate. Would use them again, no question!
They did a good job. They got in there, got to work, and were able to get the work done before we had any rain. They called before they came out because they were running a bit late, which wasn't any problem. They brought enough people to get the job done in one day.
Description of Work: They leveled the floor in our bathroom and brought the tub back up where it belongs. They also installed a dryer vent. The old vent just went under the house, now it blows outside as it should.

With a musty smell as soon as you walked into the house, and the air conditioning ducts 'raining' water, we called Sean who was advertized on WTKF Radio. The job went very well. Sean, the owner, brought sufficient workers to accomplish the task in a couple days, and cleaned up so well, you wouldn't know they were ever there at all. Three years later, there is no musty odor, crawl space temperature stays fairly constant and humidity never goes above 52%. We couldn't be more satisfied.
Description of Work: Clean and level crawl space, jack and straighten two sunken piers, seal foundation vents, remove old vapor barrier and install new 6mm barrier taping seams and sealing around piers, install residential dehumidifier w/power source, external drain and remote hygrometer.

Job went very well. Sean Cochran, a licensed engineer, visited the job several times to design fix and estimate because the structures involved (all brand new) were failing progressively. When the ultimate plan was formulated, the contractor showed up exactly as scheduled with a great crew, who set to work immediately, installing approx 10 helical pilings in 3 failed foundations, and 2 subsiding slabs, which were also mud-jacked. Sean was on the job full time--which made me real happy--and did the pile-driving himself. Did a good job on restoration and clean-up, too. Overall experience was A+. Very capable folks. Seemed like they did first rate work!

We have a minor crack in our foundation wall. I emailed the company and received a prompt call to get more information. They had to schedule around my hours and arrived when promised. They drove to Morehead City from New Bern and checked out the problem - even crawled into my cramped crawl space. He took plenty of time with us to gather information, answer questions and explain what was happening. He told us the crack was mostly cosmetic and did not require intervention and explained why. He discussed all our options and told us what to watch for in the future. Then - he refused payment because the company provides free estimates. We are certainly happy customers.
Description of Work: Polite, prompt and delivered free estimate.
